I can’t imagine the hours of rebuilding time that breakaway nut would have save me. One reason I quit flying helis is the time it takes to repair them after a minor crash. This little dude is awesome and im sure the price will come down like with all technology. Great video!
Is it a good time to get back into RC helicopters??? The E-Flite Blade Mcpx had a plastic main gear with a D shaped hole that pushed onto the bottom of the main shaft and would rotate in a crash, like a fuse or slipper clutch. I absolutely loved that, you really had to try hard to break it. They're so light that grass can completely catch em, stoping it from hitting the dirt. Untangle and try again!
Hi Justin , nice to have someone I can understand, great job . I was talking to my dad a week ago. I told him I bought a FW 200 Heli , silence. I don't talk to my dad about rc helicopters. He made a bet with me if you get all A's in school hole year,I I will buy you that rc helicopter you keep talking about. Well this was 1976 5th grade, a Heli cost 7,500.00 dollars well the one I wanted, and I think the only one they made. He said you will never get straight A' and he's right , but his ex's girlfriend was my 5th grade teacher, she loved me and hated him. She gave me a big hug . He was a jerk to woman
For removing & tightening that 'breakaway nut' , take a look at the bottom of the nice hex tool provided! it has the nut socket built in, pretty clever. Also using the loctite is pretty risky if indeed weakens plastic as that nut is obviously plastic & could fail prematurely!
I have a question and I would be very grateful If you could answer, if I don’t change take off locations, do I get away with doing the drone-dance just once and not every single time I takeoff?
I was very interested until you mentioned the self centered collective. I've been out of the hobby for years and want something I can grow back into... Also, a tip (Nick Maxwell told me) to get really good is- hover with the tail stick pushed a bit to the side so the heli slowly pirouettes. Try to keep it in one spot just using the pitch/ roll stick, slowly increasing the piro speed as you gain confidence. Once you got that down, try flying in circles then figure 8's while keeping the rotation at a steady speed. Do that clockwise and counter then repeat the whole thing when you learn inverted flight. Once you get it all down I promise you'll be doing half piro-flips before you even think to try. You'll have mastered every orientation and flight direction in level flight, both normal and inverted, leaving you with a huge comfort zone/ buffer to pull into when things get hairy.
20:30 Yeah, pretty cool, BUT, what was with that total airborne meltdown!? Shall we assume you flew the battery out? 25:56.. Sure looks like you could get a socket on that. I was cringing watching you with those pliers on it. ;) A nice deep socket, with maybe a short extension on it I'll bet would give you all the torque you'd need to not even need a wrench to tighten that up to German torque specs.... "Goot-en-tight" Been watching all these 2 year old videos on this heli, and figure now they've probably worked out a few bugs.
That was an awesome design feature you discovered hitting the tree. Great test/repair review. I didn't see anything in product description about that safety feature either. Makes me want to add a heli to my Kwad collection but price is out of my comfort range for now.
@@dronecamps That's what I loved about it too. Had to make you feel so better I bet when you did. Expecting the usual (worst case. Like taking a garbage bag with you on the walk of shame to put the pieces in) and discover wow, I got lucky!
hello, I am happy to see your video because I experienced exactly the same behavior of the FW200 (at 18min30s on your video), while I was doing an acrobatics, it was upside down, and suddenly it beeped and he left on the horizon without any more control on my part.... after 2 hours of research I found him 1km away in a field thanks to the audible alarm that I heard while looking for him by bike . I have since been afraid to use it.... Have you found the cause?? THANKS
Hi , What's the other connector on the battery, one end is xc30 but I'm not sure if the other end is your balanced lead. Is it possible to charge this battery using my smart SkyRC charger for a balanced charge? Thanks
Oh Man, I have like 5 helis Blades 450, 120 and spent several hours on simulator and gave up trying to fly. I now fly FPV quads, much easier and I do freestyle. Maybe one day I’ll bring the helis back out . Expensive when you crash.
@@dronecamps Yeah that’s crazy. Great invention on that breakaway nut and the head survives. I tried back in the day to get DJI Naza-H installed on my 450 for stability but never got it to work properly. Nice to see this technology finally in a smaller scale.
Hey Justin, your content is top quality as always! I watch most videos you release! Just a side note, I noticed you started using this Insta 360 for some of the outdoor shots, I don’t think the quality of that camera footage is any good…. Just wondering if other viewers ever mentioned that?
I really wanted to get the 450, but since the the 450 V2 is not available, and there's no telling when it will be, is this a good alternative? Or should I wait for the 450?
Would you recommend the FW200 over the FW450? I'm looking for an RTF that is 450/500/600 sized so i was leaning towards the FW450 but do you have any recommendations? Thank!
That's great. The initial cost of the heli becomes more affordable with the break-away nut. I think I may purchase this in the future. However, I would like to find a flight controller for my existing align 450 with those same features such as return to home, position hold etc. I know some helicopter purists will not like this but after years of flying I am thinking of having the same relaxation I have on my drone, which I interchange between modes.
I think the H1 controller is designed for a brushless tail rotor motor not a drive shaft or belt drive like Align 450. I have a Maxx ASG controller that should work but haven't tested it yet.
I would say it’s more difficult because it’s flown line of sight. You have to be able to instantly reverse the controls in your mind when the nose is facing you or if it’s inverted versus when flying fpv you don’t ever have to do that when goggles are on.
Awesome video.... Thx.... What's the range? How far can you go?.... can you do FPV long range with that helicopter?, I which you can, I'm about to get one of this for myself....I do FPV with drones, rc plane, Traxxas Summit and I will love to do it with an Heli.

The bottom of that tool they gave you with it is the tool for the Nutt. Turn it upside down and have a look.
Josh, u have to wait for the tail light to turn SOLID green for GPS lock and RTH. That's why u had problems...
Which helicopter is better: the fw200 or the fw450L V2.5? Which of the two helicopters do you recommend?
So in low battery mode does it land where ever it is and you have no control?
Quando coloca em 3d o GPS fica ativo ou desativado?
Tendo que controlar a todo momento os sticks

Very interesting helicopter. Thanks for your detailed video. Can you tell me what speed is reached in forward flight in stabilize mode?
What exactly caused the crash? Sounds like you said it was beeping right before?
Low battery but I was inverted! 😬
Just turn the tool and the handle is the driver for the little nut.
can it be set to mode 1? Great review mate. Thxs
I wonder how this compares to the OMP M2?
The OMP does not have the stability mode and no GPS.
I have seen other videos were the green light was solid green, so maybe since yours was blinking green it wasn’t full gps and that is why it crashed?
