    Hey Rob,
Thank you so much for your honest and thorough review!
I agree the spine could be sharper. it was one of our critiques towards TRC but they couldnt do it without effecting their level of finish and we didnt want a small part on the spine with a different finish so we agreed it was good enough.
really enjoyed this honest review! and i'm proud to hear this praise from a knife maker and someone who is a scandi fan.
our aim was to make an allround Jack of all trade knives for the things we love. It's basically a camp / survival knife that is suitable for bushcraft. thats the idea. Also the convex should make it nice for hunting as well even though the handle design is not perfect for that

I think you did an excellent job, I really like the knife, far better than the F1PRO, X and standard, I have them all.
I've been into knives since I was a kid and I'm almost 50 now, I've had hundreds of knives and used almost all of them,
I don't bullshit in my reviews, I know what works and what is a gimmick, I've also made hundreds of knives mainly zero scandi grind and this knife is definitely in my top 5 utility knives now.
      Well done lads .
There's is another video filmed on this knife which is mainly a carving project and I might do another one with survival tasks more than woodcraft.
      All the best, Rob.

Considering the price I'd say the Cold steel master hunter in sanmai 3.
The 3v model is quite different as it's thinner stock , I sent mine back as I thought it was too thin for my needs.

Great review! Glad you finally got yours. When I compared mine with my R2 I found the blade shape extremely similar. Which is kind of remarkable because they were developped simultaneously and could not be a copy of the other. It may explain why both are such good knives. I find the R2 a great neck knife, carrying it upside down with the sheath modified by sawing the belt loop and side loops off. I carry my DBK in a spare Enzo Trapper sheath as I also don’t like the original sheath that much.

Nice review. When I look at this knife I see a BRK handle but you can trust TRC to have the fit and finish perfect where I hear some bad reviews on the fit and finish of current BRK's. Mine are all older ones and have perfect fit and finish. When I look at the blade it's more the TRC model Bushcraft. When the spine doesn't feel that sharp to the touch but is sharp enough to use it, that's perfect for me. Some spines are way to sharp. This is the first field test review I could find by any experienced guy and maybe even the only one.

Where I did find Cedric (cedric & ada) doing some home cutting tests you are the only one I could find who actually took it outside.

@RobEvans Woodsman I can kind-of understand the "non-ego" outlook - but you have a level of skill that few can emulate; - that said, your work deserves to be celebrated and shown-off - without a website or anywhere to go to browse a current catalog, the only way for a newcomer to find out what you can do and what you have for-sale is to view your videos or call and ask. You already know that you'll never please all of the people all of the time and there will always be someone that states a viewpoint that can cut deeply into your confidence. With a Skeletonised tang and a slippery Micarta handle batoning is not advisable.
Falknivens are way overpriced but I'm very happy I never bought into the hype and paid the ridiculous price they want for it.
I bought the current TRC Apocalypse but I am disappointed mainly because the top of the handle is too narrow for large/muscular hands.
TRC seem to be drifting into form over function now.
Success often swells heads and monetary gain becomes a priority unfortunately.
I watched your Apocalypse review and I agreed with the vast majority of your analysis but I don't recall you touching upon the handle being narrow but maybe your hands aren't as muckle as mine! lol!
Wearing gloves help with the grip but I rarely wear gloves because the skin on my hands is like tough leather! lol! My wife says I certainly don't have tender hands to hold her, but at least she loves my bear hugs! lol!
My best wishes to you and all of your family and loved ones friend, 🤝🏻👍🏻.

I'd sell the Cos because it was second hand and we'll sharpened when I bought it and I'm not that keen on the black blade, it's not an issue with the steel, I have 4 other Fallknivens in COS.

Your feather sticks are world class! I am surprised I missed this video. You did a wonderful job showcasing this knife. How would you say about the magnacut steel's edge retention compared to other premium steel? For the price and the size, and the fact that it has a skeletonized tang, I don't think the value there for me. I don't have a need for a + $400 small knife. I agree that the Coldsteel Master Hunter is a great knife for 1/5 the price. The 3V Taiwan model is alot thicker blade out to the tip! It is no longer black like the Italian model, the 3V has a stone washed finish.

@@RobEvansWoodsman May I ask, have You owned/tried a knife, with a 11,8 cm (4.65") blade and 11,8 cm handle? For many smaller tasks a 10 cm blade will work, but as a one knife to do it all, I find that too short. The extra length of a 11,8 cm blade makes it versatile enough to handle almost anything.

Yes my friend it's all been done before, I think that's the reason why people are fixated on expensive steels, all I'm hearing these days is magnacut, magnacut, magnacut, if people knew how to sharpen, at home and in the field then they could save themselves a fortune.
