Great video Wako! Still unbelievable that you use our knife! Fun fact: the handle geometry is almost identical to the gunny scandi you sold me years ago! (We based our handle on that knife) You might have sold it to me because you thought the same of that handle back then around 10 years ago, who knows! Anyway, till this day it remains my favorite knife my friend, i think that handle is perfect and I will cherish the knife forever. Cheers, Mikkie B
I'd be interested in seeing you use the knife on a deer indeed. Convex grind then will surpass any low scandi grind (or scandivex like your Garberg), which while awesome for battoning, won't be much fun when trying to neatly cut precious fine meat as from a deer.
What on earth are you on about? If I was field dressing a deer, I’d use a proper HUNTING knife and not a bushcraft knife. I’d probably use either my Bark River Classic Drop Point or Fox River, both CPM 3V and convex going as I’m sure you are aware. Anyway, what concern is it of yours?
Got mine in the mail today, Pete. I noticed your comments regarding availability in your videos. So here is the latest take: knife costs 429euro + shipping in the EU. Prices went up since the kickstarter campaign due to material cost increase. Availability is good, the DBK guys do a couple of drops per year but it takes a few days for them to sell out. So whoever wants one, can get one. The knife comes with the kydex now. With the option to buy the leather sheath extra. Great experience overall, fast shipping, great service. The knife is just perfect.
Awesome! Ive been watching you for years, you inspired me to buy a firebox about 8 years ago and have been doing bushcraft and cooking ever since! Thank you for this skill
Again another beautiful video. A very good honest review and demonstration of the DBK and the Mora Garberg. I like the under water video, some nice size fish still to catch in that stream. Good to see you back.
It's amazing to see this come full circle with the DBK boys following and being inspired by this channel, to making their own channel, then making their own knife only to be featured on this channel hahahaha what a world we live in
I like the the thin handle. Reminds me of why people like me like the 1911 pistol. Its subjective because everyones hands are different when it comes to ergonomics. You also changed the thickness to your own liking on the Mora. And my botoning and feathering had a different experience with the knife last winter. Also you sharpened your Gerber to a comfortable specification to the point its perfect for you. And you had a lot of practice and hard use with the Gerber. The DBK is still fresh and new to you so its easy to have a knife you practiced with hard use and refined the blade to be better than something you just got. For the DBK. I like it. Its better than most of my knives. The DBK, Falkniven F1X and my Dulo knife is my best knives out of the many I got.
many people say that the Garberg is not a good knife. I convexed it like you do nearly at the same Time. And now it is exzellent. I hope you and your family are doing well.❤🇩🇪
I couldn't agree more doc since I got my garberg I haven't used any other knife, it's simple but very effective I wrapped the handle as well and put a convex grind on it is just perfect.
At 28:20 he's putting any flame out by smashing everything down with the blade...it'd catch quickly if he did it from a foot away, and let the sparks do their job. Great video Good Sir!
All very well, but the DBK knife is supposed to be a bushcraft knife after all so it should have performed much better. Also, the edge clearly wasn’t up to the job of battoning (steel issue?), whereas the edge on the Garberg performed as expected.
If the TRC Knives, made their handles thicker (even the handle on Cuori and Apocalypse, are very thin), then they would have been by far, my favorite knife company!! Their designs always have features of a hunting knife design. Even the handle on the Apocalypse as also the Southpole, the Classic freedom, K1, all of them! Mille Cuori's handle, SHOULD have been a thicker handle. Check out, Ka-Bars, Beckers, Ontario etc, all those soldiers knives, combat knives, all come with very thick handles.TRC knives, not only are not thick, but even worse, are on the thin side. Hope they fix that issue someday.
nice way to spend a day, some good times near the flowing water 😊 would you mind making a sharpening video of the Rapala marttiini filé knife? i've never sharpened mine and its so bendy i would like some pointers.
He refined the blade to his specification and also made the handle thicker as well and used the Mora for a long time. Plus the ergonomics is different with each person. I like Virtuovice but it was a bit of a unfair comparison. It would have been a bit more fair to have a Garberg straight out of the box no changes vs the DBK.
@@vagabond4576 The DBK guys said they made the best bushcraft knife...but anyway batoning wood is not the primary criteria in order to evaluate a knife's performance, primary criteria for a knife performance should be ability how a knife cuts, slices etc...Garberg is better at batoning because it has a wider angle wedge blade cross section than a DBK knife not because Wako refined the edge or made a handle "thicker
Wako said he didnt like the handle. And his handle was changed to make it more thicker with a rubber sleeve. And he had his Mora knife made and sharpened to his specifics because he had it for a long time. The original Gerbergs grind is a pure low scandi and is even not prefered by Wako in the past with that type of grind. He actually doesnt like scandis. So Wider Wedge BS talking out of your ass when he changed the grind on a knife comparison. Your that same fool who went after me on my other comment with a snide remark. So this is the last time I reply cause I got better things to do than debate. I wont read further. So if you reply anymore. I moved on fool. Best to do the same.

@@peter2814 I agree, however the main problem of DBK knife is its skeletonized tang which is of course shit, a weak point...DBK knife is just another vastly overpriced knife item...
Geometry is king, the Garberg has a very fat bevel angle even with a convex edge. I wish Mora had made the main scandi bigger especially at the belly portion. I also hate their micro bevel my carbon version was horrible so I removed it. The DBK knife has a tall or high convex grind so its going to get stuck more in the wood. BUT I'd take that geometry over the Garberg any day. I do like the Garberg but I dont love it like so many seem to do. Its much better now with my edge on it but its still a thick cheese wedge of a knife. The belly curves up to aggressively and makes sharpening for most users difficult. It also causes people to eat away at the bellys Apex slowly blunting the grind until the belly can no longer cut bread let alone wood. They should have gave it a higher grind , more edge like the Real Steel Bushcrafter designs. I have a FLISSA Scandi bushcraft knife I reviewed from China in D2 steel. It can out perform the Garberg for almost all bushcrafting tasks and its only $25 .... I will be making a video to compare both knives when im able. I'd love to see a DBK knife made with 80CrV2 for $100 with a good sheath. That would be awesome but it aint gonna happen in this economy.
The knife has probably other benefits also, but when you name your knife "Bushcrafter" you can expect that it will get compared with other bushcraft knives.

Your knife feels versatile rather than only for bushcraft. I will try it again for deer dressing this coming fall or winter. Cheers, Wako.
Stick to the clowning about and leave the knife making to the experts!

I had higher expectations for the DBK knife, with all its premium materials. However this proves that geometry is what makes a knife a good knife.
Hes been using that Mora for a long time and refined the blade and thickened the handle to his specification. So its not a fair comparison.
