I've been watching this channel for almost a decade now. Started my first year of University in 2011, now i'm 27 and still enjoy these relaxing videos. The difference today is i'm now financially independent and can actually afford good knives. Bark River is definitely on my list. :)
Evert video you make is so relaxing to me. I would love to hunt, fish, eat a meal, drink sake or just sit around a firebox with you. Keep up the good work
i know Im asking randomly but does any of you know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot my password. I would love any help you can offer me!
@Colson Stephen thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I am an old man too my friend got the same stove when you got yours and use it the same way it works fine have no need to replace it Would really like to see a family campout again those were awesome especially the scenery take care
I absolutely love your knife sharpening and your outdoor adventures I got set up with wet stones and strop and sharpening my hunting knives I whatcha your method very close and I am trying to duplicate it and I'm seeing good results on my knives cant wait for derr season
Because of you and your experiences with hunting and bushcrafting, I ended up buying a few bark river knives, and got some great gear from watching all your videos. Thank you for your inspiration 🙏
Relaxing, much needed after watching that Kenosha vid, all this rioting & chaos over here in the states! Thx for reminding us we just need to get away now and then : )
My favorite fire making knife is my Bravo 2 in 3V which also has a high saber convex grind. The 7" blade length and .25" spine is awesome for batoning and would be good for defense against large predators. I do a lot of overnight/multiday camping and process larger wood to make longer burning fires. The high saber convex grind is great for feather sticking. I believe you have said in a video years ago that you can only have up to 6" knives in Japan. It is a silly law -- they should change it. You would enjoy this knife , I am sure

Wonderful video Waiko!!! I will say your fish are small in your creeks!!! The creek where I grew up was similar to this one, but the trout we were catching were 8 to 16 inches long, but we never kept the smaller ones until they were about 12 inches or more.
i dont eat flesh or animal fats but i always find these vlogs so fascinating and very helpful because if i got stuck out in the wild with no food you better believe ill eat what ever the f i come across that is eatable!! many thanks for this video Virtuovice
Doc, I really love your mountain streamside fishing video. Heaven on earth. Once the Covid19 restrictions are past, I hope to visit Japan and tryout some of your mountain stream fishing. Are your trout streams in the same mountains where you hunt stag?
Beautiful as always! Do you tie your own flies? I would love to see close-ups of the fly. Also, is that public land/water? Available to everyone? Do you often meet other people on the river?
@@dermotmcgreevy5220 You are making a moral argument about killing young fish vs old fish? Or is there an environmental reason that he shouldn't be doing that? I know nothing about fishing
Very beautiful there. Funny it almost looks like where I go fishing. I've never been good at fly fishing i use a spinner. Or bait cast. I also enjoy fishing. That is some beautiful water I like were you can see the different color water. That was a very active river. I would think in Japan you would be using a Japanese knife. Why do you choose bark river just wondering I've heard so much about Japanese knives that they don't ship some of their best stuff. An is American knives expensive there. What knife do you like from Japan fixed blade. You don't see a lot of Japanese fixed blades in America mostly Taiwan. Also doesn't Japan have strict knife laws. I really enjoyed the video you have a new subscriber
@virtuovice : can you please tell me what fishing rod and what lure / fly you use .... thank you so much in advance ...I would like to do this with my wife ! Greetings from Switzerland! Adrian
Mol73 Nature and Outdoors there are a few reasons why he may wear bells. One bell is a “Bear Bell”. Another is a Shinto thing something about protection and gods. It’s pretty common for “hikers” to wear bells in Japan.
Hello doctor! Any idea where I could try to get one of these Bark River Bushcrafters these days? Everywhere online is looking empty. Cheers from Canada
@@virtuovice thank you for this magnificent adventure video Dr.Wako I'm very happy you are doing well I've been with you for many years you are my favorite content creator. Please be safe.
Yes. The handle of the BushcrafterⅡis a little too thin and the knife itself is too heavy for the blade length. For the Firebox a 4 inch blade is enough for batoning.
@@jn3750 I keep a Bravo 1.25 as a winter hunting survival knife to make a large fire on a snow ground and a Bravo 1.5 as an earthquake survival knife to split thicker logs out of broken houses. I once used the Bravo 1.25 in mountain stream fishing after recontouring the handle myself to confirm it works better for feathering. That's it and I don't have any particular reason that I take Bravos as a good bushcraft knife. The handle of Bravo knives has a decent guard design between the grip and the blade and it reduces leverage for feathering.
Great! Thanks doc.!!! How bout. Cooking some backstraps this year in the woods!!!!!🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌👍from🇺🇸how bout , best folder for hunting too!( cutting up deer)
Ho long do you cook the rice in the German cooker? I have the same one and would like to try it. I know to fill it to the first line with water for one person, but how much rice do you put, and how long do you cook it?? Thank you
Put 180ml rice for a single person. Put water twice as high as the rice level. The first line simply means 500ml of water which is just appropriate for instant noodle cooking not for rice cooking. Leave the pot for a while in order to make the water infiltrate into the rice. Cook it until boiling stops. Feel the boiling through a wood stick held on the lid. Leave it on the ground for 5 minutes to steam it. The water level is the key. A little higher level makes the result a little softer. Be easy.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give such a detailed explanation. That is exactly what I needed to know. I’ll give it a try next time I’m out in the mountains. I wish you and you family well. Take care

Titanium is pretty but yes it does deform with heat and will require adjustments from time to time. Stainless is tougher it that regard.
