i love them as a couple: i really think that the characters are well developed and that they make so much sense together, but watching this is so hard. you can clearly see how manipulative jane can be when he decides to be. he knows lisbon has feelings for him and he decides to exploit them one last time, showing the viewer that he never, for once, thought about not killing red john. she would have never let her guard down and let him near the car alone if he hadn't hugged her like that and if he hadn't made that speech. i'll never stop loving how heller decided not to show red john's death in the very last episode of the season. that way, he was able to write a new life for jane and he didn't make it look rushed. jane slowly becomes "whole" again, more communicative and dare i say, happy, finally becoming deserving of teresa in his own (and our) eyes.
Yes I agree, for me this scene and season 5 with Lorelei was hardest to watch, I felt so bad for Lisbon then and at the time I thought she deserves better, but like you said after killing RJ I loved watching new Jane with the new life and him becoming deserving of Teresa was my favorite part because in my opinion she suffered a lot during the course of the show, emotionally and professionally but that is just my opinion I could be wrong
Arguably, one of the worst things Jane ever did. I understand why, but still a terrible thing to do to Lisbon after all they had been through together!!
I so agree. Aside from being shabby, it´s also plain stupid because more dangerous to face the killer alone. But it´s not reality and therefore building up the suspension is all what counts.
He couldn't risk her trying to stop him. Remember, his intention once he identifies Red John is to bid the other suspects adieu and torture Red John to death slowly. He only settled for shooting him in the stomach and strangling him because Abbot was closing in. Lisbon's a good person, she wouldn't go for that. She also wouldn't want Jane to do that, because she thinks he's a good person too. Which is impressively innocent, as to this point she is aware of him killing at least one person in cold blood, torturing several people, burying someone alive, setting up two people (Panzer and the guy who was killed on the fake Red John list) to be tortured to death, and at least 5 or 6 others to be killed.
i can't put up with this scene while she's all happy about it and vulnerable.... i mean holy shit man thats like kicking a puppy and that puppy (lisbon) is literally my favorite puppy in the whole world
He’s being honest about how much she means to him: he felt he had no one at first. The years they spent together working side by side is when she picked up the pieces for him and became the balm he needed most despite his vigilante in his revenge towards red john. She did save him but he also saved her by killing Red John….it wasn’t just about getting revenge for his wife and child but it was also for her otherwise they’d both be looking over their shoulders living in fear. He was letting her go cause he knew it wasn’t the life he wanted for her to live while he was still an emotionally broken man, so he took her phone.
I usually don't like dramatic tv series , because they are not believable . The Mentalist is the exception . i was alias hoping they would declare their love for one another and of course they finally did . Contrary to most , my favorite character was Lisbon because her most powerful moments were facial expression with no or very little words . you have to be a really great actress to pull that off.
Yeah..it was still a great moment though! What Jane said and Lisbon's reaction brought a tear to my eye:') gahh now I want to make another Jisbon video..
Jane do that was necesary to do to avoid a misery to Lisbon. Is very sad but both knew that from the begining.Jane at the first season said what him will make to RJ and Lisbon refused it. She will avoid that and she will leave RJ at the justice. Even finally Lisbon change his mind, the risk for her job and integrity is very higth.Jane must avoid that.
GOD.. this scene is so beautiful in itself and for the meaning it has. 😭😭 He was saying goodbye to her to keep her safe and also because he didn't know if he was going to survive her confrontation with Red John. This is curious, because even so, Jane feeling that maybe he could die and that this was the last time he would see her, even so he couldn't declare his love to Lisbon... maybe he didn't want to tell her because he didn't want her to bear the burden those feelings (besides that he couldn't express it for the obvious reasons that we all already know!) and she... it's so cute to see how she gets emotional when he tells her about the surprise, you can see her happiness... it's as if she to find out that he loves her too and is so happily baffled about it. Then he breaks my heart 💔😞 but he did it to protect her.. and the explosion proved him right. If she had gone with him she would have ended up dead.
He didn't use her or manipulate her. He was telling her the truth, a truth he's been wanting to tell her since Season 3 finale. At this critical juncture, he had to leave her there to assure her safety. Her death would have destroyed him. 6x01's ending was a prelude showing that he could not have forgiven himself if something happened to her. She didn't take it personally. She knew what he was doing and went after him, in time to save him. They each wanted to protect the other.
The music here is so good and so sad. I know Jane saved her life by leaving her behind but it was still heartbreaking to see Lisbon react to all of this.
Ohh, I nearly die while watching this scene. I was all the time saying "tell her you love her, kiss her, fucking Jane!!" xDDD But well, it didn't happen :(
@@smurfyday deep down Lisbon knew that Jane didn't want her to be there when he confronted the suspects. She was concerned for him and he knew that and played on it by leaving her at a very remote location without her phones.
It's because it wasn't scripted. The show was conceived as a revenge tale. Even after s3 the writers were adamant Jisbon wouldn't get together. But the leads' on- and off-screen relationship were so lovely that it forced their hands. That kind of thing is once in a lifetime. There's a video of Robin Tunney giggling like a little girl when Simon Baker surprised her with a visit during an interview. I think they would've been happier if Baker weren't married when they met, as bad a thing to say as it is.
I love the cold pragmatism of this scene on Jane's side. He knows that if Lisbon is at the house she'll try to stop him from killing Red John. She has said as much every season. Hell, even if she would let him kill Red John, she certainly won't go for what Jane has planned for Red John. Jane made it clear over the course of the series that he fully intended on slowly torturing Red John to death. Hell, the only reason he settles for shooting him in the stomach and strangling him is because Abbot was closing in. What I always loved about The Mentalist is that if you take Jane's background, up through the deaths of his family, and replace getting psychological treatment and joining the CBI with him becoming a vigilante who tracks down and kills/tortures the various Red John associates you see over the course of the show, with the ultimate goal of torturing Red John to death, he would make a lovely sympathetic season-long villain on a procedural, or even a more episodic show.
She also likely would have been blown up so Jane did right thing in the end here for sure. Its possible Red John would have dragged her to safety to but its just as possible and likely hed have finally let her die to and blown her up so in hindsight and etc Jane was doing the morally right thing here and also taking it as a genuine opportunity to reveal his true feelings.
I hated Jane here. I knew that he had to do that but I was so angry. He used her and her feeling AGAIN. The smile Lisbon gives him when he says he has a suprise omg... and then the face when he starts the car. I was so sorry for her and he really is a jerk leaving her that way...
@@brunafelix7767 she was understanding and forgiving person who had soft spot and feelings for Jane, she was helping him for 10 years in finding RJ and I think she only understood him and helped him in next episode because she realized that in order for him to find peace and move on is to get his revenge, and Jane no matter how much I loved his character and I think Simon is great actor he at this point didn't have same feelings for her ,he manipulated her feelings so she couldn't come after him and tried to stop him, for him they were all means to an end in find RJ but it did happen that in 10 years working side by side he let Lisbon in and her suport and trust meant a great deal to someone like him she became his partner and good friend ,so do I think he was cruel sometimes? I mean Yes and No if I look from his point of view I can justify everything he did because of what happened to him and serial killer had to be stopped, but if I look from Lisbons point of view I feel so bad,she loved him at this point and some things he did were cruel like putting his trust in Lorelei instead of Lisbon after all she was his partner, he could see how much that hurt her but didn't care that much because catching RJ was always the goal,so in the way he always manipulated her but he also cared and didn't want anything bad to happen to her because of him.
And yet if he didn't there's a very good chance Red John would have let her die in that explosion, Jane used manipulation here obviously but thats not all it was he also meant every single word he said 100 percent so he used this as a tactic to both be honest to her and show and express gratitude while also at the same time yes tricking her to try and keep her out of danger, it was both not either or, so in hindsight he did the morally right thing here.
I get annoyed when this scene is misinterpreted. He's not manipulating her feelings to trick her here. These are his feelings. He's saying goodbye. He's intending to kill red John. If he succeeds he's on the run. If he doesn't, there's a good chance he'll die trying. It is also a convenient way to ditch her at the same time. The only lie he spoke was, "I've got a surprise for you." His is whole demeanor & tone changes from serious to jolly when he lies
how is he doing this without laughing😂 i would have laughed so much if i left someone like that lol even if its to save the person i would have laughed😅

Her death would have destroyed him. 6x01's ending was a prelude showing that he could not have forgiven himself if something happened to her. She didn't take it personally. She knew what he was doing and went after him, in time to save him. They each wanted to protect the other.
Who’s cutting onions at 5am in my bed ???
Sorry, didn't realize you were there.
This show was so great so much better than most of the crap on network TV and cable… if you watch Big Brother you need therapy
jane clever priceless gifted unique.

Genial esa escena
This was their goodbye, neither knew if they would see each other again. Their hug was so heartfelt, just like when they met again in S7.
Jane knew they were separating, she didn't. She could've believed he was gonna propose to her.
@@smurfyday deep down Lisbon knew that Jane didn't want her to be there when he confronted the suspects. She was concerned for him and he knew that and played on it by leaving her at a very remote location without her phones.
The Mentalist it's the best show burn since the x files. There's no show like... Every couple now happen its so fast,it's so superficial.
Jane you son of bitch! 😂😂LOL
Song in this scene?
lisbon secrets
IT not same
Imagine thinking he's FINALLY going to say he loves you then he leaves you at the side of the road
:))))))))))Yaaay! I loved it too!! But i didn´t know he´s gonna left her there....
And i was too!!:))) Btw, in my mind was Lisbon kissing to Jane after all he said... Maybe next time?
jane lisbon drive safe.
priceless.
jane drive safe.
E depois disso tudo o que ele fez com ela ela AINDA o ajudou a ir atrás de Red Jon sem impedi-lo
Ele mereceu sofrer quando ela estava com Pike
OMG I LOVED this scene!!! .....until he drove off and left her. Hah..typical Jane:P somehow I knew he was gonna do that and ruin the moment.
I hated Jane here. I knew that he had to do that but I was so angry. He used her and her feeling AGAIN. The smile Lisbon gives him when he says he has a suprise omg... and then the face when he starts the car. I was so sorry for her and he really is a jerk leaving her that way...
But she understood him, after that, considering that in the next episode she helped him getting away from Abbot to go meeting "Bertram"
Jane always trick her and she always let him do 😂. Love makes people weak
Idk why i found it so funny when he drove away
JustAnna I totally agree

Ele não quer coloca-la em perigo. Mas deveria deixa-la ajudar. Amizade e amor .
Ok one thing how she get to the town?
I get annoyed when this scene is misinterpreted. He's not manipulating her feelings to trick her here. These are his feelings. He's saying goodbye. He's intending to kill red John. If he succeeds he's on the run. If he doesn't, there's a good chance he'll die trying. It is also a convenient way to ditch her at the same time. The only lie he spoke was, "I've got a surprise for you." His is whole demeanor & tone changes from serious to jolly when he lies
I always thought that Robin was in love with him. In real life, I mean.
Jane! Jane!:damm it Jane!
JANEEEE NOOOO WHY!!!!! NO JUST NO
+Nadia PC at the end of the day he IS a con artist.. lol also stole her phone while hugging..

He didn't even open the door for her, that was kinda rude in Canada.😂😆😂😆🤣🤣🤣
That's right 🙂
Maybe when the fucking RJ dies at once. Oh, I really want a Lisbon kiss!!
Jane is not a gentleman here!!!!
Not here, nor in the next episode, when he just disappear for years :S
Yo leo, Yo comento The one after the next one actually.
Yeah, getting your lady blown up is real gentleman-like.
If you've never seen the sun set from Santa Cruz...
I don't know about any of you but if I find my self a jane all keep him
Wow
I have surprise for u and drives 😆
he didnt deserve her
life hacks shut up ya little meff
They deserve each other, in the best way.
Why did he do that? :(
To protect her from; either being killed by Red John, trying to stop him from killing Red John or being implicated in Red John's murder
oh, thanks :)
Hope you watched the show.
