- Many of you all probably know that I used to have a '65 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door sedan, which I sold a while back, I loved that car. The other week, I came across this example, which was top of the line for the day and couldn't pass it up. With 47,000 miles and modest restoration, this car is a gem. More videos on it to come, this Vlog focuses on why this car means so much to me, why I bought it and why I sold that '57 Jaguar I bought a little while ago. Later in the video, I pick up my grandpa (Papa), take a quick cruise and hear what he has to say! Of course the complete In Depth Review and Road Test will be uploaded in the coming weeks!
Thanks for watching guys, hope you enjoy it!

During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHANNEL SEE BELOW: In this channel you will find in depth educational videos of automobiles from all over the world, presented in a more detailed fashion than ever before. Basically, this gives the viewer the chance to view the most detailed 1st person look you can get without going to an actual dealer yourself! Every video is consistent in the way I present so viewers know what to expect in my presentations. I treat every vehicle with the same respect whether a 1960 Chevrolet Impala SS or the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador. I film all types of vehicles from past, present, and future while broadening the knowledge of the automotive enthusiast. You will see everything from vintage, brand new, exotic, mainstream, old, etc. I am very proud of this channel and have built it up from amateur videos years ago to what you see today. I wanted to share my love for the automotive world with the rest of the world. Be sure to explore the massive video variety, have fun and enjoy The Driver's Seat of RUclips!
This video really isn't about the car - It's about Kyle's grandfather. You can see how proud he is of Kyle. And when you have a grandson eager to visit his grandfather and show him something he's proud of, you know you've got a special relationship. Ya'll cherish your parents and grandparents as Kyle does his.
Kyle is an all around genuine guy and class act. Love this guy
Wow, he looks really good for 91 years old :P
Actualy yeah
+FsAviX Gaming that is true
Yes
My grandpa is 82 and looks like barely 60. Many people are amazed when they find out.
xxx
My great gran just passed at 91 1/2 about a month ago and my grandfather passed at 66 in 2013. Your grandfather sounds like a very amazing person. May he live for many more years. Also beautiful car.
That's to bad. May they rest in peace
Kyle: I understand your passion. You made a valid point about the newer cars missing something and why you appreciate the older classic cars. I understand. You learned some of the same lessons I learned about restoration too. It was great to see your grandfather and that you care so much for him. He spoke very well and I bet he has interesting stories to tell. Thank you for sharing.
The Fairlane 500 is definitely Papa approved ! I think the passion with classic cars for me is knowing how much effort went into the detailing , no robotic assembly in those days .
@The Genius probably robotics is much better but now we have a lot of software problems so what's the difference bunch of Coors cans were driving these days with problems software recalls.
Seeing you with your grandfather makes me realize how much I miss mine. He died a year ago.
+Goldenrod636 I'm sorry for your loss :(
Stop looking for someone to feel sorry for you on the internet.
SnejaTheKing I wasn't looking for anybody. I was just stating something.
Listen man, im really sorry for your loss but dont share stuff like that on the internet.. Do whatever you want though.
Its not like I'm sharing personal details about my address or phone number.
Saabkyle is a old man in young person's body.
+Stirling Moss :)
+Saabkyle04 XD
Versa Boss wtf
I have to say, for 91 year old man, your grandpa is very fit and healthy... He also remembers many things unlike other seniors who don't.. He is funny as well, I love him. Great car, great papa, a good life indeed.. I envy you!
Love this one! You Papa is the man. I wanna see him in more videos!
+Gold Pony man i want to see you making more videos about SUBARU :D
199alexman Alright...Sounds good! I'll see what I can find today!
+Gold Pony you got my SUB!cribe lol
You are such a nice young man, you deserve all the rewards you have worked for.
You should have your "papa" narrate classic car reviews haha he has one of the best Southern accents I've ever heard!
+Ahmed Gafar That would be amazing haha
+Saabkyle04 Can U review 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid & Sonata Plug-In Hybrid?
Kyle, thank you for showing us your marvellous 1965 Ford Fairlane and than you for introducing us to your Grandfather and especially to Slim (Papa) for appearing and talking to us; a true pleasure for us!
Thank you both.
Man it's awesome to see you behind the wheel of this beauty! Loved hearing your thoughts about your old cars and the story of how you decided to get this one! I do the same browsing of Ebay from time to time lol. Your thoughts at 16:35 are awesome, couldn't agree more! Just drove my first classic car a couple weeks ago and it is a completely different experience to any car I've ever driven. Still hoping to get a classic car sooner rather than later. It was cool to hear your Papa talk about his 1940 Ford too, I'm a little jealous of the awesome things he must have enjoyed living back then!
Holy crap I'm your biggest fan and I love your videos
+subaruwrxfan I own a 2003 WRX, and a 1967 Ranchero. They're two very different cars, and the Ford almost makes me have to slow down a little and enjoy life, where the WRX is just a go from A to B as fast as possible with the windows up.
what a beautiful classic car.
+Voss the boss Thanks man!
+Saabkyle04 Can U review 2016 Kia Sorento, please?
+Earl Matthew Avila hope to get one as a press car
I smiled all the way through the video. You're blessed to share something this cool with your grandfather.
I love your story of trying to get Christal to look at the car that was hilarious
Awesome video, Awesome car, and you're an Awesome person. Keep living your dream, and share with us.
PS: love your grandpa and his accent.
Aw man what a great video. Very cool to see this.
good health to your granpa and my grand parents
This made me sub, nothing like a fellow young man who appreciates classics and loves his family. Papa looks strong for his age. Thank you for sharing
hey brother - - your blessed to have your grandpa. those are the
things that truly matter in life. thanks for including him and for
your informative vids. ej south texas
Beautiful car and you are blessed to have such a youthful man with so much wisdom to share. May he, your family, and you have continue many blessings.
This video ended too soon! Really enjoyed Papa and I admire his old school stories and knowledge of cars. Reminds me so much of my grandpa and how much I miss him!
your description of owning and driving a classic car is the same explanation I tell people, yet there is something you cant put into words, sort of going back in time a bit. Also no safety , well, that makes you pay attention more. I love it also and I got my first classic at 50 yo so I envy that you have these classic car experiences at a young age.
Kyle wonderful video. I feel you on classic cars. Something about how far cars came from is just awe inspiring. Having your grandpa come along for a ride is a moment to cherish and is very wonderful that you shared with us all. Keep up the great work Kyle!
My father was a foot doctor on Long Island in NY and one of his older patients sold him a '65 convertible Fairlane for $500 in the late eighties. I loved to go out and visit him (was living in NYC) at that time and "borrow" the car to go to the beach. Light blue with a black ragtop if I recall correctly . . .
65 convertibles dont exist
Had to be at least a 66...
This brings back some good, and sad memories of my papaw. Thanks for making this! So glad to see you get to spend quality time with your papa! And what a great looking car!
Loved this. Your grandfather is so cool. Make lots of videos of your grandparents. You'll appreciate them more and more as the years go by.
That's awesome that you still have your Papa around! I still have both sets of grandparents. Grandpa on Mom's side sadly won't be around much longer. Doctor's gave him an est. 6 months. Enjoy him while you can man!
what a great guy you are. so down to earth. your videos are a pleasure to watch. I've said it before, it's so cool to have a guided tour to many of the cars I've seen and thought were cool. without your channel I'd never know what the interiors and specs were of many vehicles I find interesting. so thanks again...ken
Your grandfather is so genuine! I love him!
So many memories...this was the car I grew up with as a small child - turquoise blue-green with a black interior.
Classic cars are fantastic to drive. I'm glad to see your papa. He is so cool.
Its so nice that your father and papa are still enthusiastic with cars, man you really have a life that many of us could never have. Have fun with the car!
Great video. Love the Fairlane but enjoyed seeing your Papa just as much. Amazing at 91 years old, still driving and has all his mental faculties! Cherish that. There is much to be learned from his generation that we can't replace just like the old cars.
I very much enjoyed this video and meeting your Papa and seeing you enjoy that Fairlane. I have a 67 impala my grt granny bought new and agree with you about the nuances of driving a classic. thanks for sharing!
Man I really like your videos.. Pappa ROCKS! Its nice to see a young man your age that appreciates American cars and is able to feel American pride the way you do my friend. So many young folks your age today have been taught to be ashamed of their own GREAT Nation and that is so damn sad to me. Keep up the great job dude and keep putting out these awesome vids!
Kyle, the way you described your passion for your hobby (and this car) was riveting. As a mechanical engineer, I can't agree with you more when you expressed that simpler is better. Now I miss my '76 Cutlass Supreme with the 350...Good luck with the Fairlane!...
I have been a subscriber to your Chanel for a few years now and have seen a few of the cars when you had them that you talked about in this video. I have to say that I am in love with your latest , Your driving one beautiful 65 Ford Fairlane 500 that I believe is a vary rare car, I have never seen one that was equipped like yours and I go to a lot of classic car shows. You really have a special car there . But most of all I sure did enjoy this video with your Papa riding around with you, it is easy to see that you two are just a little "Car Crazy" like many of us are too. Keep up the good work you do here on you tube.
You are not kidding. Driving older cars is a joy. Who needs these new cars anyway?
Good video as I enjoyed it. I myself am buying a 1959 turn key chevy Bel air. I got lucky because it belongs to a 86 year old relative and she kept it road worthy all this time. Can't wait to drive it.
Wow, that's really something! Your grandfather seems like a wonderful man by the way! It's so nice he's able to share in this car with you
very nice ride on that beautiful car and your papa looks great for 91 yr old. God bless him. and take care of him and, the car too
Loved seeing your papa. Makes me miss my granddaddy that much more. We would do stuff like that a lot and go out to eat a good bit together.
Classic cars are you and the car. Which I like. Newer cars seem like they drive you
Doesn't make much sense, but whatever. And yeah, I just replied to my own comment.
Bless him. I could listen to old people talk about the things back in their days all day. Cool video mate.
Nice classic car and a great man driving it! That was great of you to treat your papa with a nice ride like that.
We need a Papa and Kyle show... Awesome video... Big thumbs up to your Grandpa
Congrats kyle. It's really a great car. I was amazed when I saw it. We all wish you have as much fun as possible with it. You deserve it. Thank you for all the content; I know so much about cars because of your videos that I don't even know if I would be the enthusiast I am today if you weren't around. Have fun with it, Kyle!!
Kyle mate you are a great person and I personally love your personality and the love that you have for you family.....
God bless your grandfather, seems like a fantastic man!
Happy to see you're enjoying your new Fairlane, and am happy to hear "Papa" is doing very well!
This was awesome. The hood ornament on the Mercury seems to be Papa's pride and joy!
Completely get your love of classic cars. I'm lucky enough to have restored a Series III Land Rover and you certainly get way more attached than you could to a new car.
Great video! Loved hearing about the car and your papas view on it. how times have changed, always respect an old classic!!
Hard not to be happy for a guy like Kyle. Keep up the great work man!
Thumbs up if you love "Slim"!
who needs air conditioning when you have vent windows
Great video !!, I'm happy for you to got such amazing car, and such amazing papa!!, I hope that " brand new" looks fairlane brings you a lot of great moments. I will be waiting the video of your review of that really gorgeous car!!
Oh yeah I can see by your overhead shots that that it is a chore keeping this car consistently spaced in between the lines. (I like to hug the right line myself).
I think its so awesome to see a car 50+ years you loved before (im talking about the papa)
Awesome vid Kyle! Sorta brings a tear to my eye seeing the elderly and the youth find a common interest! Keep up the great work!!!
WOw man! thats awesome! loved your grandpa! I wish you and your family all the best. Love your videos and you are very inspirational. Take care.
Papa, is one cool dude! God bless him.
Not gonna lie, that Jaguar was a pimp mobile, even though it was modded. I agree with you Kyle, classic cars have character unlike the vague cars of today. Sure we may suffer serious injuries when involved in a a high speed crash when driving our classic cars, but in the end it is worth it. I think your grandpa's favorite thing on the Fairlane is the hood emblem lol.
cool to see you talk with your Papa in that old car. He's still pretty darn sharp!
aww i love your grandfather. He seems like such a sweet old man :)
It's so cool. I love it.
I totally agree on the classic/older car thing, although I mostly enjoy older trucks. It may seem dumb to some, but it's a fun and rewarding hobby. A bit expensive, but fun.
I had a 1965 Fairlane Sports Coupe in the 70s. It had a small 6, which was a dog, It had bucket seats and a console. As the car got up in miles, I could flip a coin as to whether the car would start and I was stranded many times.
Even my 1988 Buick Lesabre seems dated compared to modern cars, but I sure love it- like driving a 70mph couch!
i really enjoy these video about your cars and life, its a nice change from the regular reviews.
That is such a beautiful car, really looking forward to seeing more on it. And thanks for introducing us to your grandfather he's awesome!
He passed away on 1/18/2019.
It's awesome that you can include your grand father in these vlogs. I'm liking the vlogs kyle!
You can add factory correct power brakes fairly easily to this car. In fact 1965 Mustangs had a disc brake option that would easily retro fit in your Fairlane. Don't forget to add "Vintage Air" to you car also.
Skippred straight to the piece with your papa, I knew what idd be getting and I wasn't disappointed. Now to the beginning of the video to finish up.
+shiconia Papa is awesome! He never disappoints :)
The 1965 Fairlane 500 Sport Coupe is the coolest of all of them I also had a 1966 which was very cool and probably more attractive, but the 1965 is special.
Your papa brings me joy!!!
what a beautiful car, its as if you were destined to have it! its so cool that you got papa to be in this video, he seems like a really great and wise guy :)
Love this. Your grandfather seems like a great guy!
Nice to see that you still make time for your G-pops
I wish I could cruise same way with my grandpa, he would be same age. Great video as always.
YAAAAAAYYY.!!!!....Good to see u Papa SLIM...lool.......MAAN U LOOK SO FIT & HEALTHY at that age. Greetings all the way from WEST-AFRICA, Ghana to be precise. Good Vid as always....WICKED FAIRLANE. Keep doing ur thang man...we got ur back.
the play in the steering comes about due to ford using a power assist unit instead of the power steering being integral to the steering box. Yes there is play the Bendix valve has to move a bit to change the direction of the hydraulic fluid in the cylinder.
Great video, Kyle! Your grandfather did a great job, too!
I rarely watch a full video anymore but this was a treat!
Happy birthday Papa! My grandfathers name is papa too!
Awesome video. Nice to see your genuine passion for classic cars.
Thank the Lord Mercedes-Benz still uses hood ornaments! I don't know what I'll do if I ever lose my old S-Class. I have such a connection with it.
God I miss that sound, used to have a 1of1 65 sports coupe that I sold a while ago
hes so adorable.. Father n son goals.
Your papa has such a great accent. Sounds exactly like Christopher Guest's character in "best in show".
Happy seeing your papa enjoying the ride. Regards all the way from the philippines kyle! More videos and in depth tours for more cars. Godbless 😊
This is why Saabkyle04 is the best. Great video!
Man the road is empty i envy you kyle, it typically takes an hour for 8km trip back home at my city at rush hour.
Nice looking car. Good to see you enjoying it like it was meant to be.
Nice car Kyle! Real nice find. Hope you're doing something awesome cuz you haven't posted a video in almost a week! Looking forward to it
Love that old Alpine deck under the dash.
I'm not one who likes classic cars, but this car looks gorgeous.
Very nice video and very nice car! I always watch your videos, they are always informative and interesting! Keep doing what you're doing!
