You have beautiful chickens. I hope the racoons dont bother yours like they do to ours. We had 35 chickens killed by raccoons in one winter until we were able to shoot them but they just come back.
That's so sad! We had four chickens, and two of them were killed by raccoons and the other two died from natural cause. We then bought two more, which one was killed by a raccoon last year and one was harmed.
Microwaved Waffles I also had coyotes kill my chickens. They killed all 17 of my chickens in the cage in two nights before I had locked it. I had only one chicken left in the barn sitting on eggs. 5 eggs hatched and that made 6 chickens. Then 2 of my hens decided to sit in December and now I have 20 chicks! I keep the chicks and 2 hens on my enclosed back porch in cages and the other 4 chickens are outside in a cage. I let the 4 run in the day and shut them up in the cage every evening. It is a lot of work having the chickens in the winter. I dont know what to do with all the chicks. I need to build something for them that will keep them safe. Bottom line: I went from one chicken to 26 in about 6 months!
