I started Kali training in May 2015 and have followed Kali Center since then. Kali Center is the best distance/online training in the Filipino martial arts bar none!
I've been training since 1988. The basics never get old for they are the foundation of the entire system.
Pugay
62 yrs. Here and love this! Need to order your sticks.
Hey man, been watching your vids for a few weeks now to help me learn and teach my kids. FMA is awesome, applicable, and transferable, and it's been a fun dive. Great work and awesome intro materials!
I just started training this past weekend. So 3 days ago.
I have always been a nunchaku guy but I wanted to try Kali and I am in love. Thanks to your videos. Thank you for being so a great teacher. You make my transition very simple. Now I need to order some rattan kali sticks to add to my collection of cut down broomsticks. Haha
Thank you Paul for this great video. It is amazing to see you working on strikes that I have just recently free styled into without any outside help.i do believe we are on the same wave at times when this happens. This will be my 3rd year in November
Wing Chun 5 years and Jiu-Jitsu 2 years. I worked with butterfly swords in Wing Chun but haven't done any weapons training since. Now I'm just interested in learning a little more about weapons training and this seems to be a very versatile discipline that applies to many blunt and edged weapons.
Hi Paul thanks for this awesome video I had been training for the last 3 years I love FMA fun fact I start with your videos🙏🙏🙏
Starting today after work. Great simple show case to follow along with. Looking forward to learning much more as my wife and I take this journey.
I have just signed up and taken my first class
Thank you for that final instruction on how to practice the fiootwork in limited spaces. I've been doing it with the 6-point star from your older fiootwork video. I'll also follow this one. Thank you!
Old guy just starting basic footwork and upper body movements to flow without anything in my hands right now
Good place to start 👍🏼
Most battles happen outside. Sometimes in forests and sometimes on gravel roads. battles rarely happen in a dojang/dojo!
I touched on arnis yrs back and for about the last two yrs following your vedios and with Tom 2x a month in his sat group class on line I am troubled with spinal stenousis but kali is great .
I was training JKD for a few months which was a few years ago and I had 1 lesson in kali and I learned those same strikes you demonstrated ( although I now realize I did the first two thrusts wrong, now I got to work on that ) it's been a while since I've been at a dojo and I hope to go back soon, but I have been researching and practicing kali techniques for some time now ☺️.
Thanks sir
I really like the number set of strikes that use here. To me it makes sense. I’m definitely gonna work on these striking patterns.
谢谢!
Learned some in 90s in Round Lake Beach , Illinois... started to train again more seriously about 2 years ago
Good one!
Been training for a month, not counting a 3 week pause I had to take. My master is a man called Herbert "Dada" Inocalla, who knows your channel, btw
Thanks you,I Training kali and wahch TV,it small area, some time I go to out side.
You have a great channel. Thanks for your videos!
🙏🏻
I started training yesterday!
Training 4 years in Tobosa Kali Escrima
Awesome! Gotta keep at it 👍🏼
Well done. I just started Kali, although I am 1st Dan Black Belt Combat Hapkido, so I am comfortable with it. I am just learning my basic strikes. So far, it looks like a nice fit with Combat Hapkido. I am going to use your site as a resource. Thank you.
That’s great! Thanks for watching and hope my videos help you greatly in your Kali journey! 🙏🏼👍🏼
Good instructions 🙏🏾
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thumbs up for the little slip 🥳
I trained for about seven years a long time ago. Took a break for other life interruptions. Back at it for 2-3 years.
It would really help, in any exercise, to see you from the back to memorize just by seeing you
Hello enjoy the videos. When do you expect more of the training swords back in stock. Looking at the Talibong. Thanks
Thanks sir Paul...show me the 12 disarming technique please.
What is super confusing is on the two. Why make such a huge pattern where the blade is offline? After the 1 shouldn't it be go back in opposite direction? The exposure of forearm is enough time to get hit. I like 3 and 4 because both strikes are connected
❤👍Love this Move💪 😍
Thanks!
Thank you 🙏🏼
just started FMA for exercise and this is a good video for some basics. do you have more on the basics?
Yes we do. Lots of basic training here on the channel and also inside our online school at KaliCenter.com
Training for 3 months. Isa. Delawa. Tatlo. Apat. Lima. Anim. Pito. Waloo. Saam. Sampu. Why not? If I can say Hanna. Dul. Set. Net and Ichi. Ni. San. Shi. Go. Roku then I should be able to count to 10 in Filipino too! The foot work is coming along, so is the hand eye coordination. But keep in mind that I am 71 years old and so used to Korean (kick and punch) and Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Also, I am smart enough to figure out RUclips but so far I am not smart enough to figure out Twitter, or X, Instagram or whatever the newest social media is. Or maybe I'm just overly cautious about someone hacking my personal info.

Thanks for the video. I'm relatively new to Kali. What's the difference between swords? On your site I see Ginunting and Talibung. Or is it just a matter of personal preference? Thanks!
It’s just personal preference. Whichever style you like more. 👍🏻
About 3 years 👍😊
On the 11 & 12 strikes it looks like you are hitting with the flat of the blade? Is it the point?
I started 26 sept 2008. :)
Im new to FMA journey
👍 I worked on my basics strikes Saturday. I’m improving on implementing more combinations while keeping a good flow. Thanks to your outstanding teaching instructions. Thank you Guro Paul!
8yrs
Just started, I’m a Tae kwon do Shodan.
Which style is this?
Just curious, I both do stand up and ground work and have always been taught to go with what foot position feels right. In kali, can I be goofy and still do these positions with my right hand? I've noticed that kendo does the same with the a regular stance. Thanks in advance
If you’d like. In Kali our feet will switch. We don’t really have a “stance” once we’re moving it’s just footwork and where you need to be.
Wing chun 30 years, sanda 15 years and kali 20 years.Yoυ are so good
Been studying Kali since 1987. This set of 12 strikes seems so unorthodox compared to many other 12 I’ve seen. Just curious which system you draw from ??
New.
Since 1980.
Cool fine! I used to trained Kali a few years back until intermediate level... But i forgot most of it haha.. do you mind if i use this video to train myself at home? :) im doing PTK in Singapore.
Go for it! That’s what my channel is here for 👍🏼
@@kalicenter thank you!
4 years now...
I feel like those training bolos have been out of stock for months but they do look pretty nice.
Our new batch are now on their way. Takes a while coming from the Philippines. 👍🏻
Hi there master. I lack the proper training in Kali, master
I love martial arts. I like this art.
Where is this Kali centre?.
Can we meet in person?
Hope you may send the adress.
I have a polypropylene khopesh (ancient Egyptian sword). Since I think the khopesh is a bit longer than a bolo, can I still use the same form or will it have to be modified due to the length of the sword?
Practice with what ya got. That's part of the art of Kali; transference of skill between whatever is available.
@@dylankerfoot6027 Thank you. :) I wasn't sure as in some systems not having the proper weapon can hinder what you are training for. That's why I settled on learning Kali because of its versatility but just wanted to be sure.
Yes, this form can be applied with any weapon. Kali is adaptable like that.
Mdyr 2023 up 2 now not constant sir
i started kali / arnis since 2015 hehehe
New
What style or System do u do?
I’ve trained in a few. On my YT channel I blend from different styles I’ve trained in. So now my style is simply called “Kali” 👍🏻
Training about a year.
Me new
1 day
Do you know its a karakol dance here in philippines
Yes 👍🏼
Would that also work with a machete?
Yes. Bolo is basically machete.
Bro - thats God 💯 ain't it. On the Cliff with himself. 😮😊
There is never an excuse why you can’t train, ever … NICE
That’s called slipping with style….
