- Some time ago we had the great Thomas Lang in from Los Angeles visiting Drumtrainer online. Three days of filming, from morning to night at different locations in Berlin. We shot two days at the Backline Berlin (BLB) workshop of Rossi Rossberg - and since Rossi was the chief Backliner of Rammstein drummer Christoph Schneider for many years, his workshop is located at the Rammstein warehouse in the northeast of Berlin. And since we were there anyway and Christoph and Thomas have been friends for many years, it was just natural to bring the drummer of the currently most famous German band for an interview in front of the camera. Interviews with Christoph are very rare and on top of that Thomas Lang is asking the questions!? ... what can we say: We are very proud of this Interview. //Im letzten Jahr hatten wir den großartigen Thomas Lang aus Los Angeles zu Besuch bei Drumtrainer Online. Drei Tage filmen, von morgens bis abends an verschiedenen Orten in Berlin. Zwei Tage haben wir im BackLine Berlin (BLB) Lager von Rossi Roßberg gedreht - und da Rossi jahrelang der Chef-Backliner von Rammstein-Drummer Christoph Schneider war, ist eben dieses Lager in der Rammstein Lagerhalle im Nordosten von Berlin untergekommen. Und wenn wir schon mal in den heiligen Hallen drehen und darüber hinaus Christoph und Thomas seit Jahren befreundet sind, lag es natürlich nahe, den Drummer der derzeit berühmtesten Deutschen Band für ein Interview vor die Kamera zu holen. Interviews mit Christian gibt es so gut wie nie und dann stellt auch noch einer der berühmtesten Drummer der Welt die Fragen!? …was soll man sagen: wir sind sehr stolz auf dieses Gespräch. Yeah he is. I love his drumming. He can get you to dance. Especially those first two Rammstein albums. He turned me onto Meinl cymbals😊

I think he does but not trying to brag to much, I think he just comes across as a very humble and down to earth guy, like the best people in the music industry :)
He never has tbh. Everyone in the band except for RZK are pretty humble and seem to have imposter syndrome.

The thing that makes Schneider so damn excellent is that he doesn’t play very difficult or technical stuff but i don’t know of any drummer that can play as heavy as he does. He makes simple stuff sound so damn perfect and makes it fit into the music and complinent it. I’m a MASSIVE fan of Lang but Doom is just My absolute hero of all drummers.
Jonka Olofsson Over the time when listening and relistening to everything Rammstein has released I find some little things here and there that make me smile or headbang or whatever. He‘s no Mike Portnoy but he is damn good and nice to listen to, as you say. Simple yet colourful and heavy or soft when needed. Also one of my favorite drummers.
One of the few metal drummers I could play along with when learning how to play, I am forever grateful for that.
So long as you know how to lay the beat down and on tempo that's all that matters. That's whats great about Schneider!
At 53 years old, he's still able to keep going. That's amazing for a drummer of his style.
53 really isn't all that "old" though. You can still have great stamina and showmanship at that age.

An english interview with Schneider!! That's rare but it was very nice to watch and hear about Christophs drummer heroes.
It's cool to see how the members all learned English so well. It's nice to understand their exact words coming out.
Most can speak more than 2 languages. Till fluently speaks German, Russian, French, English, Spanish, among others!

@@davidvilchez2209 Till Lindemann does speak English and speaks it very well, he does speak Russian but only a native speaker can give a proper answer on how well he speaks it.
I think he does speak French but never heard him speak it in an interview.

He's so lovely. In fairness all of his band mates are lovely too. They have this huge and scarey but awesome sound; some really dark videos; a stage presence like no other band, and yet they are all incredibly intelligent, humorous, lovely chaps. Christoph is a phenomenal metal drummer. They've got their formula and their sound, which wouldn't be half as good without Christoph 😊

Rammstein does a great job getting breathing room into their songs, and the drums are part of that. Players don't play over each other.

Austria is a part of germany, like Bavaria, Prussia, Saxony etc...
Die Ostmark gehört zu Deutschland, wie Bayern, Sachsen, Hessen, Preussen, Sudeten etc. es auch tun.

Austria is a part of Germany wether the austrians deny it or not.
Vienna has been several centuries the capital of Germany when austria was the mightiest state in that specific time in it's history.
The Habsburger is a german sex like the Ottonen, the Stauffer, Hohenzollern, Askanier, Oranier, Sachsen, Wittelsbacher etc. etc.... (Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha = now the Windsors!).
So nevertheless austria is german, period.
You should study the history of our country more my friend.

Christoph is always the nicest most real guy and so humble. You would never realize what a great killer drummer he is by his own description? He is a monster drummer in a monster Band! I Love Rammstein! And after all these years I am always so impressed by how he doesn't need to be the image that his profession almost requires? He is just the most real kind guy. I will bet he is a great Dad to his children!

I think Christoph is easily one of my favourite hard rock drummers of all time and I think it’s just because the way plays is simple & the energy how he feels is really powerful.

Schneider has had many looks since they first started the band, but I think this look is my favourite by far 😆 yes, he looks a quite older, but he really suits this. (More than the long hair stage imo lol)

Schneider always had a great drum sound going it shows in the albums reise reise, rosenrot, and liebe ist fur alle da, his work on waidmanns heil shows his skill with the double kicks and snare rolls he's surely up their with Lars in the sense that he instinctively knows what fits best for the song to capture the vibe.
Niko Bellic That‘s an insult. Don‘t compare him to Lars, Schneider is way better. Listening to Metallica is a mixture of „that thing was nice“ and „what the shit are you doing“ 😂 But i agree on the rest. Herzeleid is underrated too.
@@OfficialArthusamakh Lars is past his Prime where Schneider seems to be getting better behind the kit with age, yes half of herzelied album the drums were fast paced and aggressive I heard the drum kit was electronic to.
He's better than lars in St.anger
Schneider is the King of staying in the pocket. He's also the king of midi and click tracks. The entire rammstein live performance grounds on his drumming. The Pyro, the light show, everything. If he messes up it's over. Lars on the other hand is all over the place, no structure, just erratic playing and dumb fills.
christoph looks like a killer in all of their videos specially Ich Will. but during interviews he is a very polite and homeboy looking guy :)

I believe Christoph is a very clever and sensible drummer: he does have a wide mindset in matter of studio and stage sound, that it s not so easy to combine. Honestly I think he would be a great drummer for Depeche Mode shows.

I have been listening to Rammstein since their first album and they're my favourite band of all time. I just love it about them that they're killers on the stage but off the stage each member is so humble and so chill.

Two completely different types of drummers style-wise here. Lang is amazing with footwork, polyrhythms and limb independence. A great showman and top notch progressive drummer while Christoph is basically the engine of Rammstein. Nothing fancy,,, only occasionally taking opportunities to show off. I’m sure he’s easy to lock into allowing the rest band to do their thing and put on their amazing stage show. Rammstein’s identity stems from each individual identity that make up the sum of their parts. Great interview.

Christoph Schneider doesn't play so "confused" then many American Drummers ! He seem's to be also a Humble Normal Guy .. not "Drug Overloaded" or "Manic" as some US Drummer & other Musicans ! & "By the Way" he already reached easily their "Level" !! I like him ! 👍👍👍
all members of rammstein are very humble and polite during interviews. that it feels weird seeing them not the guys we expect from their videos hehehe.. I guess all Germanic people are like that.

Thomas thinks in English and speaks in English. Christolph thinks in German and then translates to English. Both perfectly understood. Both best at what "they" do.
