Looks like a great quality bed! But, I have a dog that is a "nester". He claws and paws and rearranges his bed all the time. He destroys a solid foam bed. We bought a My Pillow dog bed and he's had it quite a while and it's still in great condition!

HELP! I just got mine and was so excited but my dog won't lay on it because the covers on the ortho pieces makes noises as he moves or goes to lay down. Is your bed noisy? I don't know what to do. I got the boule cover. I have reached out to Barney but no one has responded.

Thank you for everything you do, my best friend wouldn't be alive without your help of balanced training. Joel Beckman is also good balanced training.
Can't speak for little dogs but with a strong dog who can actually be dangerous being positive only is such trash and wont change the behavior. Koop will never be a dog park dog but hes worlds better. I age tested him and hes 6 now but almost 4 when i got him.
When i first got him it was obvious he was abused, if i even picked up anything fast hed run away and abuse does mess them up... Took months for him to get over that. Balanced training is in no way abuse! Dont hit your dog cause its being a pain in the butt .. the behavior will change just be patient and most importantly CONSISTENT

I could see a pup doing this but after about a year and a half old your dog should not be doing it. If that is going on there is something going on, or some things not going on that should or should not be. The dog has to be given a way to excersise every single day until they've had enough. Depending on the breed some need multiple exercise sessions. But that's not all there is to it there is mental stimulation and there are so many ways to mentally stimulate your dog and those things tire your dog out more than anything and a tired dog usually is a more behaved dog. But if your dog has chewing habits then try to ensure that you're making available something for them to chew on other than the bed but at the end of the day if they chew on the bed they don't get it. I've never personally dealt with this issue but I have heard a lot of people saying it and I just can't imagine not being able to stop that behavior. But again I've never had a dog with that behavior but I also make sure that they are fulfilled.

My mali gsd starting to make me nervous. 😢
He has leash barrier frustration and turns it all onto me. Now I've met a woman and a baby on scene.
I don't think I can trust this dog.
He's 16mnths old hardly walked cos it's a gauntlet just out front there's always loose dogs and fighting I'm lucky we've not been involved yet.
I'm hoping my dog just needs people he has already showed me he's not a mindless psycho plenty of times.
Even when he's full send at me muzzle fell off he grabbed my arm growling fury. Lips curled ears pinned guttural growl and then he froze just holding my arm. I braced for my first bite ever from angry dog.
I don't remember being bitten by any dog I just know I have accidentally here n there. I'm lucky.
But instead of biting down on my arm he recoiled from me slowly didn't just drop down. He recoiled like a snake. Still growling fury. Then shouted down the street at the dogs again.
At home I have 0 visits on average I'm new in town but had dude here dog was going crazy in the kitchen.
I'm immersed into a game of mw3 zombies and dude says something and walks off.
I replay it and realise he's gonna let the dog out. Too late.
I heard commotion immediately then they shuffled into the living room my dog bear hugging him through the door looks at me got eye contact then got down but stayed pressed against his legs sheperding him around the room or keeping him away from me. I put an end to it back in the kitchen.
Felt lucky asF. Proud of him too. Not just going wild. Didn't use his teeth at all. His no teeth training mayb worked. I've only ever said no teeth. No run.
Outside I tested him first time I shouted RUN!!! he broke into sprint 4 paces then turned back like. what?
I thought damn. I'm pretty sure if I shouted TEETH! Point he will do it. He's insane smart way too much dog for me now I see.
Or I really hope I'm at the last hurdles and he will settle into the best dog ever.
But should I risk it with baby around?
So then we get a lady freind round here #1 and she loves dogs blah blah. But told me she's a care giver and had to do course on dogs as she meets many dogs for work.
So she went in no care met my dog. Who I wasn't as worried about he was fine last time. This time he's muzzled too. But she quickly took his muzzle off for him. Then wound him up waving her hands in his face.
His eyes glowing for her too I never seen him like it. He loved her. 3 little barks only. Stank of me though 😉 I think that helped.
The 2nd time she came same story but she instant went to see him. He lost it as the door opened tried to jump through her to me.
I saw him look through a gap eyes on me then he jumped so I know he wanted me.
She grabbed him by the neck like he was her faithful bull type trying to escape again.
I absolutely 💩 myself when I saw her hand block his neck I eeeked her name... NO.....
But it was fine. Dog stepped back we went in to him.
Then new GF came to stay over new years. "Ita all happening here now" mayb why dog has spun out.
But after he started to ignore the sounds and smells of her and her kid. I lead him through the house and he saw them and lost it. He wanted over to them and no chance. So he turned it all on me it was horrible.
I had to hold the leash down to keep him down until he quit. Which he just flips again until he's had enough. 3x that day in afew minutes he went full send on me. 3rd time holding him down he whined I never heard that noise I thought ide hurt him tbh but hadn't.
I think he submitted now. He got up brand new. Calm asF. So I lead him through as planned and he was perfect that time. I don't think he even looked at them as we walked by to get outside.
But then at the feild on the 2nd Jan we found football ⚽️ so I let him play with it.
1min it lasted then I stupidly kicked the ball. Dog instantly ferral I could see it in his movements nothing playful aboyt it.
He then pinned that football to the floor muzzle pressed halfway inside the ball as his claws dug at it. He snarling savage just not a family pet looking dog.
So I decided to end that 💩 just walking upto him he resource guarded he's never done that over a toy.
I'm certain he didn't see a toy. He was in full kill mode. After I clipped him on 2nd time he jumped up me snarling fury again.
But it was just one lunge full fury though multiple head hits but still once he landed all fours he was my dog again. As I guided us away he watched that ball like a hawk.
I think he expected it to move. But there's no way. His claws alone would have stopped whatever it was.
That was by far the worst I've seen him imo bcos he looked so mindless savage. Not to mention his willingness to go for me.
E collar doesn't do anything outside.
Prong collar mayb making it worse too. But is also the only thing keeping him half under control nah he's very aware of the collar stands still barking fury which with the muzzle I think let's me get his attention much easier.
Every bark is restricted by the muzzle so he can't just spin out barking uninterrupted. Gives me a split second to get his attention.
Prong collar keeps him standing still. "Mostly" not jumping in my face.
Slip lead he also had leash frustration did leash biting I swapped to chain. He got my arm instead now I'm using a handle only on his Prong collar. So there's nothing for him to even look at as leash.
But if a dog comes near I'm the one getting it.
I just hope its normal and he's young. Just keep breaking him in and he'll be incredible soon?
I know dogs can change massively over night. Or it seems like it. No change then boom totally different dog.
I think my staffy was aroynd 2-3 when he stopped running away to greet people. Instead he stayed 12ft infront or behind me always.
Oh yh after that day dog saw mother and 1yr old in our house. The next day I let him come in and see with muzzle on no leash.
First I made a fortress I could gate keep. So dog was only able to sit next to me and smell them. He was perfect too. Slow paced calm. Head on my lap.
    Baby squeaked..
    Dog barked..
0 tolerance that's me so removed him then without even thinking about it.
But later I did think it wasn't a bad bark it was more of a WTF? bark imo. Just one. Low/med energy bark. But his body stood stiff? Alert? Ready?
    Gone....
This dog can learn so fast too though. He brings my mail after one joke. Once.
We was in the hallway mail came and he lost it barking fury. I joked
    Pick it up. He did.
I said bring it. He ripped it to shreds pizza menu thankfully. I said failed and walked away like he's nothing lost all intrest
He hates that. Will always be better next time after that.
I swear saying FAILED to this dog he looks like he's been smacked.
Then a week later I heard mail coming in and he whined. Then he came to me with letter. Then package.
Now its automatic but too high energy he gets too excited he knows what to do he's doing it. Excitement 3000 but again always trying.
So I really hope he can be the dog I dreamed of having. I made sure he's 50% GSD atleast.
He can be calm isn't tearing my house apart. Has a teddy from 7wk old. It's ruined but in one peice. He does 💩 in the kitchen still and he knows I hate it too. But I can't get angry or he will too 😢
I start grumbling then so do he.

    • @16bitclaudes
      @16bitclaudes 10 месяцев назад

I'll be amazed if Robert makes time to read all this, will do my best to add my two cents. A mali/ GSD combo is going to be a dog that needs firm but fair leadership and a lot of opportunities to let off steam with exercise, so hearing that he's hardly walked is a recipe for disaster. This sounds like a very frustrated and unfulfilled dog that needs more structure and physical/ mental stimulation. Realistically this dog probably needs between 1 - 2 hours of intense activity daily.
Are you working with a trainer/ behaviourist? If not, arrange to work with one ASAP and please please please STOP using the E collar and the prong collar in the meantime. These tools shouldn't be used without guidance from a qualified professional. At 16 months it's going to take more work to improve, but dogs are never too old to learn new habits.
Look at some of Robert's brilliant puppy training videos and take him right back to basics. In addition to standard obedience (down/ sit/ stay/ leave it), teach him tricks - even if they're not "useful" the act of figuring out the trick will be a great mental workout for him.
If it's not safe for you to walk him in your neighbourhood, do lots of training and games with him in your yard/ garden. If you don't have a yard, truthfully I don't think this breed of dog is the best fit for your living situation but you should make the effort to take him out in a car and drive to a secure field or somewhere else that's quieter. Get him on a long leash and let him run around.
The way you describe him with the football honestly sounds like normal shepherd-y behaviour to me. They love to bite things and playtimes can sound snarly when they get excited. Invest in some tug toys and encourage appropriate biting behaviour by playing with him, he'll love it and it will build engagement!
I'm also hearing a lot about what you do to correct him/ tell him what you don't want, but nothing about how you're rewarding good behaviour. These dogs are very, very eager to please and you can see them light up when they get it right. Whether he's food or toy motivated, really lavish on the rewards to help incentivise the desired behaviour!
Lastly, shepherd dogs are very intelligent and sensitive, they will feed off of their handler's emotions. The fact that you don't trust him is going to make your relationship difficult. Set him up for success by putting him in situations where you can at least 75-80% trust him to do the right thing, or where it's not a big deal if he makes the wrong choice. As you get closer to 100% trust, start to make small, gradual changes to put yourselves back in that 75-80 margin. Be consistent, be fair and you will reap the rewards. My belgian shepherd is 10 months old now, it's tiring some days putting the work in but every week he does something that reminds me it's all so worth it.
