    I love this story! My husband is a game designer, and we love games as an art form, as an experience that can transform someone's life and awaken their imagination. A lot of your complaints ring very true for AAA gaming. Which is why I'd recommend exploring the Indie world on Steam. There are so many cool things being done. We just played Cocoon, with mind-twisting puzzles and utterly bizarre imagery and concepts (the same creator worked on Limbo amd Inside, amazing games). A lot of designers share your frustrations and are doing really cool things, often on a smaller, more affordable scale, without needing to chase the consoles. Anyway. I hope you can dig in and find some amazing interactive art to awaken your sense of wonder!

      Indie games are the best! I think it's just natural with the growing cost and production cycle for AAA games to have lost a lot of their magic, but ive played a bunch of indie games in the last few years that I really loved, Outer Wilds and Subnautica in particular were absolutely amazing

    Such a relatable video. I was 27 when I played Bloodborne for the first time, and oh boy I felt like a kid again when I discovered FS games and Bloodborne in particular. I thought my days of being lost in a videogame adventure, like Zelda the Windwaker or Ocarina back in 98, were over. Gaming was a bit stale for me around 2014-2015, the occasional Gears of War or Last of Us were nice enough to get my attention a bit, but nothing that truly grasped me, then Bloodborne happened (yes DS1, 2 and Demon Souls already existed, I skipped them because of others saying the were extremely difficult, what a mistake that was, played DS2 briefly on PS3 prior to Bloodborne, liked it but somehow quit the game after pursuer). I was completely indulged in the worlds that Fromsoft created, the constant sense of danger, of exploration, of being curious what I would find in the next incredible area, of improving yourself, of being able to survive, which weapons I would find that could change my playstyle etc etc. It was something that I experienced as a 10 year old boy, but now I sat there completely in awe of the world of Bloodborne at the freaking age of 27...To this day soulslike games still are my nr 1, they continue to be the type of games that I truly want to play when I play them (instead of just finish them to be able to play something next to kill the time), nothing compares to master a combat system and beating bosses with just one healing item left (like Lies of P, the best non FS soulslike I played)

      @daniel_netzel  2 месяца назад +1

      Man...are we the same person? xD I am seriously considering checking out Lies of P, from a glance it looks like a Bloodborne ripoff to me, but I've heard from a lot of people that it's the best soulslike out there.

    Bloodborne was not THE game that gave me back my love of video game, but it opened SO MUCH doors ! And clearly now, the others games are kind of spoiled sometimes by how easy they seems.
    But yeah, there is definetely a before and after From Software (Miyazaki's games) experience.

    I was just about done with gaming. Tired.of most of the games and how they are all turning out to be 💩 glad a friend got me into dark souls. Still gaming to this day after all those years.

    gaming is completely dead outside of some special games that come around once or twice a decade.. young kids don´t know any better but if you are around 30, nothing will ever bring back the feeling from back in the day.

    Souls games really be more about those thematics and exploration. Once you get over the initial hump and get to upgrade your equipment the 'difficulty' be overblown, and I'm glad people be seeing beyond the initial 'hardcore' impression to realize it. It all can be overcome!
    Though, I'll shout out Armored Core here. I do recommend checking out Armored Core 6 as the way it blends Action, Customization & Storytelling is actually better than any of the Souls games. It doesn't even play like a Souls game, but honestly I hope any other 'Souls-like' FromSoft makes takes notes for the masterclass AC6 brought out.

    Halfway through the video so far but just wanted to say I can completely relate to the feeling of hopelessness combined with manic determination to succeed in a FromSoft game. I'm not a good Souls player, but I really enjoy their games despite how punishing they are and FightinCowboy is also a big reason for that.

    Hey man! Stumbled upon your video from my feed, glad you got out here.
    I would heavily recommend restarting ds3. It is up there with ds1 for me in terms of games and I believe you took a break right before the best bosses in the game. The ending will make you cry.
    Sekiro - when I beat this game, I thought “this is the best game I’ve ever played, the most worth the time.”
    It’s a game similar to dark souls only in the patience and steadying oneself for failure. If you appreciated what bloodborne had to teach you, Sekiro falls in the same vein, though with some different lessons. If you have the chance, I’d watch this video on it as it’s what made me interested in the game:

      At some point I definitely will, DS3 is incredible and I'd hate to miss out, plus I still have a whole other DLC to get through! And I'll give Sekiro a proper attempt at some point, it's undeniably an amazing game, I just think I needed to realign expectations, but one day for sure, probably during the 5-6 year wait for whatever FromSofts next game is lol
