Allison shares her all-time favorite nontoxic cleaning duo: baking soda and vinegar! Here she focuses on their applications in the bathroom, and shows you how to remove that stubborn mold, how to cut through soap scum to reveal a sparkling tub and finally, how to get that slow drain moving again! Really liked these tips! I often use the baking soda and vinegar with hot water combo to get drains running smoother, and that tip for making into a paste to clean and prevent mold in grout is brilliant. Thanks for these!
Add citrus to peels to a large container, add baking soda then just enough vinegar to dissolve the baking soda then slowly add more vinegar. Let it sit for at least 7 days. Get a spray bottle. Makes a great degreaser and spot remover in clothes and carpeting. I learned that citrus trick from a carpet cleaning company when just plain vinegar and baking soda didn't work. We use it on grease stains and spots on clothes ALL the time. I also add a little baking soda then make a paste with the cleaner mix then spray a little more and let it set then wash.
I was told not to use it in the drains, that it will clog the drain after using it several times. It's good for cleaning but Don't use to clear drains.
Both ingredients are popular & effective uses for clogged drains.
What material is your tub made of? I have a hard plastic type tub/shower.. I basically use vinegar to clean most of everything but I have never actually tried to use vinegar and baking soda for any of the suggestions I've seen people use so my question is would that vinegar and baking soda that you're using on your tub work for the tub shower that I have, I noticed your shower wall is a ceramic tile and I know that there's very few tubs that are a ceramic type coated still.. but people can put anything in their actually homes they own. Thank you for the video
Im still learning a lot. I do know that some materials shoulfnt be used with vinehar or baking soda. Also, i think that sometimes you need to let baking soda & vinegar to sit for a while at the very least, sometimes overnight, seperately. I just jeard her say not to add boiling water to pour down the drain, that it could damage pipes. I dont think thats the case . But definitely vrry hot water. Ill leep watchibg to see what more she has.
You want to use baking soda paste and vinegar separately. Not together.
Is your tub not caulked at the wall? That actually seems ok from a leak standpoint but surprised me a bit
This is awful. In mixing baking soda and vinegar you're neutralizing the benefits of both. I guess if your bored the CO2 bubbles are kinda cool🤷♀. Better off using hydrogen peroxide (oxygen bleach) on the mold
I think at the beginning she's using water to make the paste. Even though she mentions vinegar. Weird.
@ivano8 When she's mixing the 2 she says the vinegar is not as strong because she just used it...not sure I understand what is the best application.
I mean, skip the steps and just clean with water at that point. Water does a great job *cleaning* as long as you're not trying to sterilize or disinfect. With this you're just making slightly fizzy water... What silly advice.
