      I absolutely love that, because Star Wars has always been hugely inspired by both samurai movies and westerns. It's a perfect example of how the showrunners of The Mandalorian really understand the source material and know how to do Star Wars right.

    12:10 - Ahsoka was born in 36 BBY. ( The "BY" meaning the Battle of Yavin, the destruction of the first Death Star) "The Mandalorian" season 2 is around 10 ABY, so Ahsoka is about 45 or 46. Grogu was 50 when Mando found him, so Ahsoka is 5 or 6 years younger. What puzzled me as I first watched this episode is why Ahsoka didn't recognize Grogu (beyond his species) if they were both in the training program at the same time. It led me to believe, at the time, that perhaps Grogu was put in a special training arrangement, separate from the other younglings, perhaps because of his species unusual development over time.
    17:24 - yeah, that was a lothcat. You may recall there was one in a previous episode snarling at Grogu.
    21:46 - Tython is seen in the MMO video game "Star Wars: The Old Republic". The story is set centuries before this, and Tython is the initial training planet for Jedi in the game.
    22:10 - I know of about a dozen Jedi whose fate was not revealed at the time of this episode, except that they survived Order 66 and went into hiding, or were so far removed from the Empire as to not be effective in the final years of the Rebellion. But as the overall Star Wars story unfolds, we're all the time discovering ones new to us. Kanan Jarus and Ezra Bridger were two of these latter ones, and Ezra's story reveals that a few new Jedi were being secretly trained, so who knows what Jedi might hear the call?

    One of the many, many things I love with how they're building the Mando series is Djn being a little out of his depth every time he bumps up against the bigger Star Wars stories going on in the Galaxy. For him he's duelling a Jedi, forming a partnership that's borderline unthinkable and presenting a solution to an unsolvable problem. Meanwhile Ahsoka's just casually ticking off her to-do list for the day, setting aside an hour or so to go liberate a town and isn't even close to her limits throughout the episode. Oh and of course he just had to say that 'they'll never see it coming' line to the one Jedi who *literally liberated Mandaloer*.

    It's heavily-implied that Ashoka is 14ish when we first meet her in "The Clone Wars" movie, and somewhere around the 17/18 threshold during Order 66 (the war lasting around 3-and-a-half years). Order 66 was 19 years before "A New Hope," and "Return of the Jedi" is 4 years after that. "The Mandalorian" seasons 1 and 2 have been said to take place 5 years after ROTJ, so, that puts us 28 years after Order 66, making Ashoka roughly 46 here. Since Togruta (Ashoka's species) seem to age at roughly the same rate as humans, and Rosario Dawson was about 41 during the filming of this episode, that all follows.

    • @RB_Eldritch
      @RB_Eldritch Год назад +4

      Indeed, Togruta have an average lifespan of about 80 years, pretty good for a species and culture that revolve around hunting, and as a fun fact, being attuned to the force affects some species on a physical level, and in the case of the Togruta it causes them to live much longer, one was known to have lived to be at least 200, plus who knows what effect The Daughter's life force might have on Ahsoka in particular.

    10:23 a toy is an attachment and Ashoka wouldn’t do that if he’s to be a Jedi. 11:35 they said in Season 1 Episode 1 that the target was 50 yrs old. 12:07 technically Ashoka isn’t a Jedi. Ashoka is between 40 & 45 years old. In this series. It would be cool to find out what exactly happened to Grogu between Episode 3 & this series. They do tell us more in Season 3 but not enough in my opinion. The funny thing about Baby Yoda’s name and a lots of people had trouble with it. 15:36 something happened prior to Episode 1 and after Episode 1 Kenobi had started fixing relationships with the Mandalorians (or at least part of the group). 17:02 Ashoka is continuing he plan from the end of Rebels. 17:32 yes I believe that was a Lothcat. 20:27 this episode is helping setup the “Ashoka” series just like seeing Boba Fett walking around and seeing his suit in episode 1 is setting up “The Book of Boba”. 21:52 Ashoka didn’t break her promise with Mando. He said that he would help her if she made sure he was trained and that’s what she’s doing by sending him to find a different Jedi.

    Ahsokas head tails are called Lekku if you are curious. They are suppose to be alot longer as shown on Ahsoka in Rebels and other adult Togruta but the prostetic that they originally made for her was just to cumbersome and it was next to impossible for Rosario Dawson to do anything physical with it on. I think it was fine to shorten them down for practical reasons, she still looks and feels like Ahsoka and that is all that really matters.

    Season 2 of Mando is probably some of the best Star Wars, and while this episode had everyone screaming crying throwing up (in a good way), I wish I could watch the next three for the first time again ❤❤

    Not sure why Ahsoka didn't just telekenetically disable the bad guy during their duel.

    It is important, when you finished The Mandalorian season 2, that you watch Boba Fett, otherwise you miss a storyline between season 2 and 3.

    Just came across your reactions. I subscribed. One thing to note, between season 2 and 3 of The mandalorian, you should watch The Book of Boba Fett (starting with episode 5 thru 7 I think) if you want to understand how season 3 starts.
