Definitely a positive change. Battle passes aren’t supposed to be good because they’re exclusive, they’re good because they are a great deal for the price. No one would buy BPs if they costed 100 bucks.

I don’t think they should release the edit styles to the shop. The skins themselves I can understand but the edit styles such as lvl 200 take a long time to get if you play normally and just being able to buy them if you don’t reach the level takes away from the point that you grind for that style.
I know what you mean. If you see someone with a super style, you can tell that they've put in a dedicated grind to get those skins. I'm level 197 and almost completed my battle. I cherish the skin (Digital Ghost Machinist) cause I worked really hard to achieve her.

I do wish that only the items that were included in the base battle pass, levels 1-150 ish, a.k.a before the super styles. Still keeps those that care about exclusively happy while appealing to those who missed the skins.
Agree -- And from Epic's perspective, this might incentivize players to work towards the super styles (and even pay to get there) because those styles will be vaulted forever. Everyone loves having cool, rare skins

There are quite a few skins from former battle passes I'd really like to buy. Sucks that isn't how this works but I understand they advertised former passes as exclusive so it'd be unfair to those who bought it. I started playing a few months ago, so I'm just SOL unfortunately.
Honestly. Most of the stuff from the recent battle passes aren’t worth buying as stand alone items. They’re just boring. You buy the pass then never use the skins again.
Current day battle passes are uninspired. There's very few new BP skins that are actually good. Chapter 1 and chapter 2 battle passes were so much better.
@jerkusclownstar chapter 5 season 1 had amazing battlepass skins, and chapter 5 season 2 could've been a lot better if they made the skins look cooler. Season 3 just plain sucks overall.
It’s a mechanism to make money. Money from partners who agree to re-release for a profit share, money from players who want to pay for things they’ve missed etc, and the only negative is people who want to show off a level of exclusivity (which they’ll still get in exclusive variants from what the blog says?)
It says future but I know this is just a test in the beginning to see how the community reacts to this change, later on they will include the old passes FOR SURE no doubt in my mind.

It's important to note that Apex Legends is doing a DOUBLE battle pass this season to match their ranked split, two passes in one season!. I think every br is looking to increase revenue since the playerbase has shrunk across the board, even if its as simple as making sure they can resell collab skins. IMO its a great change, it always felt wrong for major collab skins like Tomb Raider to be locked after the season is over.
I think they should implement a voucher system, where for example battle pass or crew owners will get one voucher per season and will be able to get one previous BP skin, maybe even a collab skin only.

I’m quite new and have no stake in this, but the battle pass is essentially free if you play somewhat regular. You pay for the first one and get every pass after that free. From what I see in the shop the skins cost more than a battle pass, so the cost benefit is so large, it’s not a problem when they come into the shop at some point.
This is the opening salvo for Epic. Introduce the OPTION to get things that were in a battle pass... then later, go back and make it retroactive once people get used to the idea, or over the butt hurt they have not having something 'exclusive'. This will happen rather quickly considering people that DON'T want this can't say much since this is currently for future passes, and everyone else that wants this retroactive now (me included) will start, or continue, to request/ask/demand/pray/hope to Epic that they release those old skins for purchase. Drives me nuts I missed the Mandalorian... and a few many others...lol.
Since subscriptions always go up in price, and assuming fortnite crew will as well, if they were ever to make previous passes available as well they should add it as a feature of the crew subscription. They could raise the price with that bonus feature.
I don't understand the collector mindset when it comes to digital assets like Fortnite skins or NFTs or anything like that. Buy something if you think it looks cool and vibes with your identity or whatever, but trying to gatekeep skin rarity is odd to me.

I started in OG and dropped it then came back in C5S1. I’ve always said that this should be a thing because epic is literally losing money with the BP exclusivity. I haven’t finished the video but my idea was that they sell the BP for 950, but the individual skins for 1,000 or something. That way you either get the “bundle” or if you never got to play back then you still can get the skin but at a mark up. I would buy skins from BP because they look cool but I can never get them because I didn’t play back then.
I'm also a chapter 1 player, and i agree with what you had to say. They'd make so much more money if they would re-release BP content. Just because i'm an older Fortnite player does not mean that i'm cool with FOMO. It's just one of those things that i've had to come to terms with. But yeah they should drop the exclusivity altogether.
The only people who will cry over old bps coming to store are the die hards fans who will still keep playing in the end. Also this will incentivies new player to play since they can get their fav characters...plus epic makes bank...so heres hoping epic brings back all past bps aswell

Buying it later means I'll probably pay 1200 to 2000 just for 1 skin, gliders, pickaxes emotes will cost even more.....this is a good move for fortnite, kids have time to play and can complete bps easily, however there are many adults who also enjoy playing the game but can't invest alot of time except maybe weekends, now you can get skins you want by paying for it with either your time or money.

I would love for them to do the Halo Infinite model of access to previous battle passes. You just pick which battle pass to level up and play with that one to unlock what you want. Once you complete it or got the items you wanted you can switch to another battle pass of your choice.
@@wet0wlFor Halo, the incentive is that you'd be able to level up faster while the season is going on, so if you miss one, the worst thing that'll happen is that you'd have to grind a bit longer, but it stays forever so I'd rather take that over not having it at all.
i think it’s a great idea. i’ve been playing since like c1s6 or so and wouldn’t care at all if they brought back older skins i have. i was playing when we got peely and think its a shame that newer players can never get the original peely, etc. it doesn’t affect me any if other people have him. i’ve never understood the issue with skin rarity and think they should also bring back some of the older skins. i took a break during chapter 2 and there are skins i would love to have that aren’t even “og” skins like black knight or something like that that i wish we had the option to get. but i think it’s a great choice and business decision by epic. i also think it shouldn’t detract from getting the bp either bc its such a good value.
Paying $8.99 for battle pass vs one skin being 1,500 vbucks minimum. This is why I stick exclusively to battle pass. The only thing I'll buy from the item shop is emotes. I was tempted with Fortnite crew but that's still cheaper than buying one single skin.
I expected this to be, as you said, a universally good change, especially as it opens the door for older BP cosmetics to return later. Yet I was surprised to see how many people, especially on Twitter, are opposed to older skins losing their rarity. You'd expect the up to 7 years of early access, 90% discount and the 1,500 vbucks to be enough for everyone to consider their older BP purchases worthwhile but still, theres people threatening to sue or demand a refund because they bought those BP only for the exclusivity. Not a good look for the community to promote FOMO and I expected better from the player base.
People need to realize shit isn't meant to last forever, besides this will make Epic some serious money, the previous battle pass cosmetics being shelved away forever does nothing for them, eventually they will so give it time. This alone already was a huge step forward.
They are mostly kids or adults that have nothing going for them, just ignore them. Also, by accepting the EULA they are dropping the possibility of sueing EPIC so there's nothing they can do about. Also, another thing you'll learn if you read all the docs, is that you DO NOT own the skins; you own a LICENSE to use those skins. EPIC can do whatever they want with any skin in the game. People don't read anything and just go around spreading misinformation, "They said the BP skins are exclusives, that would be illegal!". Literally it wouldn't lol. Also, EPIC is so big, they can do whatever they want.
This is a good change, however I still think they should retroactively apply this to past BPs. Timed exclusivity and FOMO are just genuinely dumb ways to force people to buy things. Like I can never earn ROTB Optimus Prime because I started playing after that season, which kinda sucks cuz I love Transformers, and I know there are other skins people want but can never get. Also really wish the timer was 6 months or a year at the most, a year and a half feels a bit long
I think the timer is fair. It gives more incentive to purchase it in the moment outside of the amazing deal it is. I do think it should apply to past BPs but they’d have to find some kind of loophole as their old terms implied they would be exclusive.
I have Lara Croft and i wouldn't be mad if you'd obtain her. The way i see it is that i've had three or so years to enjoy it. Items are to be enjoyed, not to rot away. Cause at the end of the day they're just digital items.
I always thought licensed characters stuck behind battle passes were dumb. They should’ve always done this but specifically for those characters. Like yeah if played season 3 you should be able to own the fortnite reaper skin exclusively. People also look over the exclusive price of a battle pass

Y’know how the omega lights were very hard to get, so I’ve been hearing that Fortnite may potentially bring back old BP cosmetics to the shop…why not change them up a bit to appeal to both og players(who actually bought the BP) and new players(who just weren’t playing at that time) so omega lights are a big deal, they could add different lights to the omega skin like how the og had red(default), green, purple, and orange Why not give the re-released versions new lights like pink, white, dark red, dark blue and even give the challenge like reach acc lvl 250 to get the lights and do unique challenges to get the omega armor. Although most may not agree with this I’m just trying to come up with solutions to make everyone happy or at least most of the community 😅
I like it, but I wish it would've been with the old Battle Pass. I wasn't playing when Classic Spider-Man and Wolverine were in the Battle Pass, and they are my two favorite Marvel characters, and I am sad I will never have them. But now with this, maybe they are easing the idea to add it in the future, but it would've been perfect now as the next season is with Marvel, and they would've made a lot of money if they added Spider-Man and Wolverine. They should add a system for Fortnite Crew that lets you choose a skin from previous Battle Pass; that way, when you don't care about these skins, which mostly don't, you can pick a skin that you would actually care about and want. Or add sking trading; my little brother has both of them and he doesn't care, so he would trade them to me, but they would lose money if they were planning on adding previous battle pass skins, so I don't see them ever adding trading; I just hope they do put old battle pass skins with this new system, or what I said with the Fortnite crew. And I don't know why people are crying about it. I would want everyone to play with their favorite character or skin, and like you said, the price of the skin will be higher than if you got it from the Battle Pass.

Benefit - that change let Epics include in BattlePass better skins and stuff because it's their future revenue. Today all Epic's efforts and investments into BP stuff very temporary and limited.

They know they’re missing out on a lot of money by not returning OG skins. As an OG myself, I just want other players to enjoy the cosmetics. I think every battlepass from CH1S2 - CH5S3, should return as well. No one cares about exclusive pixels anymore. It’s nearly chapter 6. Cosmetics shouldn’t be exclusive. At some point in time, OG passes will return. Knowing epic they wouldn’t turn down a cash grab like that.

You know the ‘Released in: …’ thing that always shows with every item ever? Why not bring old characters back to the shop too, but have them had n updated tag to the season they first appeared in the shop again. OG’s keep the rarity, new players enjoy the OG skins. Everybody happy, right?
Battlepasses should be at least somewhat exclusive, so you can say "I was there. I was playing in that chapter. Here's the proof." Selling them later is fine if they change the skin style or colour somewhat, so you can tell the difference. Just like they did with the Fornite OG pass.

Seems odd that this applies to FUTURE but not past Battle Passes. It's a step in the right direction but needs a change. IP skins shouldn't be locked behind a BP. I have them already...but let people buy Darth Vader and Optimus Prime.

Introduce the OPTION to get things that were in a battle pass... then later, go back and make it retroactive once people get used to the idea, or over the butt hurt they have not having something 'exclusive'. This will happen rather quickly considering people that DON'T want this can't say much since this is currently for future passes, and everyone else that wants this retroactive now (me included) will start, or continue, to request/ask/demand/pray/hope to Epic that they release those old skins for purchase. Drives me nuts I missed the Mandalorian... and a few many others...lol.
Since subscriptions always go up in price, and assuming fortnite crew will as well, if they were ever to make previous passes available as well they should add it as a feature of the crew subscription. They could raise the price with that bonus feature.

I don't understand the collector mindset when it comes to digital assets like Fortnite skins or NFTs or anything like that. Buy something if you think it looks cool and vibes with your identity or whatever, but trying to gatekeep skin rarity is odd to me.

I just bought a couple skins and accessories out of the store when I started playing so I had a consistent look that I liked and might buy a new one on occasion but mostly just been enjoying playing the game.

I’ve always said that this should be a thing because epic is literally losing money with the BP exclusivity. I haven’t finished the video but my idea was that they sell the BP for 950, but the individual skins for 1,000 or something.
That way you either get the “bundle” or if you never got to play back then you still can get the skin but at a mark up.
I would buy skins from BP because they look cool but I can never get them because I didn’t play back then.

@@MrVengeancenzsas how ? Bp means I pay 950 then invest time into the game to get back 1500 vbucks and around 7-8 skins with wraps gliders edit styles and emote.
Buying it later means I'll probably pay 1200 to 2000 just for 1 skin, gliders, pickaxes emotes will cost even more.....this is a good move for fortnite, kids have time to play and can complete bps easily, however there are many adults who also enjoy playing the game but can't invest alot of time except maybe weekends, now you can get skins you want by paying for it with either your time or money.

I would love for them to do the Halo Infinite model of access to previous battle passes. You just pick which battle pass to level up and play with that one to unlock what you want. Once you complete it or got the items you wanted you can switch to another battle pass of your choice.
That’d be nice but I feel like there still needs to be incentive to purchase the battle pass at the time of release so shop releases make sense.
@@wet0wlFor Halo, the incentive is that you'd be able to level up faster while the season is going on, so if you miss one, the worst thing that'll happen is that you'd have to grind a bit longer, but it stays forever so I'd rather take that over not having it at all.

i think it’s a great idea. i’ve been playing since like c1s6 or so and wouldn’t care at all if they brought back older skins i have. i was playing when we got peely and think its a shame that newer players can never get the original peely, etc. it doesn’t affect me any if other people have him. i’ve never understood the issue with skin rarity and think they should also bring back some of the older skins. i took a break during chapter 2 and there are skins i would love to have that aren’t even “og” skins like black knight or something like that that i wish we had the option to get. but i think it’s a great choice and business decision by epic. i also think it shouldn’t detract from getting the bp either bc its such a good value.
Paying $8.99 for battle pass vs one skin being 1,500 vbucks minimum. This is why I stick exclusively to battle pass. The only thing I'll buy from the item shop is emotes. I was tempted with Fortnite crew but that's still cheaper than buying one single skin.

I expected this to be, as you said, a universally good change, especially as it opens the door for older BP cosmetics to return later. Yet I was surprised to see how many people, especially on Twitter, are opposed to older skins losing their rarity. You'd expect the up to 7 years of early access, 90% discount and the 1,500 vbucks to be enough for everyone to consider their older BP purchases worthwhile but still, theres people threatening to sue or demand a refund because they bought those BP only for the exclusivity. Not a good look for the community to promote FOMO and I expected better from the player base.

People need to realize shit isn't meant to last forever, besides this will make Epic some serious money, the previous battle pass cosmetics being shelved away forever does nothing for them, eventually they will so give it time. This alone already was a huge step forward.
They are mostly kids or adults that have nothing going for them, just ignore them. Also, by accepting the EULA they are dropping the possibility of sueing EPIC so there's nothing they can do about.
Also, another thing you'll learn if you read all the docs, is that you DO NOT own the skins; you own a LICENSE to use those skins. EPIC can do whatever they want with any skin in the game.

This is a good change, however I still think they should retroactively apply this to past BPs. Timed exclusivity and FOMO are just genuinely dumb ways to force people to buy things. Like I can never earn ROTB Optimus Prime because I started playing after that season, which kinda sucks cuz I love Transformers, and I know there are other skins people want but can never get. Also really wish the timer was 6 months or a year at the most, a year and a half feels a bit long
I think the timer is fair. It gives more incentive to purchase it in the moment outside of the amazing deal it is.
I do think it should apply to past BPs but they’d have to find some kind of loophole as their old terms implied they would be exclusive.

I always thought licensed characters stuck behind battle passes were dumb. They should’ve always done this but specifically for those characters. Like yeah if played season 3 you should be able to own the fortnite reaper skin exclusively. People also look over the exclusive price of a battle pass

Gatekeeping a skin cause you want to flex that you own it seems so pathetic. Fortnite is a business and when they start needing money they know they can get a bunch from selling old battle pass items.
I think it's a nice opportunity for players to get their favorite alt style in the future, even if they couldn't reach level 200 or whatever to get it.
Y’know how the omega lights were very hard to get, so I’ve been hearing that Fortnite may potentially bring back old BP cosmetics to the shop…why not change them up a bit to appeal to both og players(who actually bought the BP) and new players(who just weren’t playing at that time) so omega lights are a big deal, they could add different lights to the omega skin like how the og had red(default), green, purple, and orange
Why not give the re-released versions new lights like pink, white, dark red, dark blue and even give the challenge like reach acc lvl 250 to get the lights and do unique challenges to get the omega armor.
Although most may not agree with this I’m just trying to come up with solutions to make everyone happy or at least most of the community 😅
I like it, but I wish it would've been with the old Battle Pass. I wasn't playing when Classic Spider-Man and Wolverine were in the Battle Pass, and they are my two favorite Marvel characters, and I am sad I will never have them. But now with this, maybe they are easing the idea to add it in the future, but it would've been perfect now as the next season is with Marvel, and they would've made a lot of money if they added Spider-Man and Wolverine. They should add a system for Fortnite Crew that lets you choose a skin from previous Battle Pass; that way, when you don't care about these skins, which mostly don't, you can pick a skin that you would actually care about and want. Or add sking trading; my little brother has both of them and he doesn't care, so he would trade them to me, but they would lose money if they were planning on adding previous battle pass skins, so I don't see them ever adding trading; I just hope they do put old battle pass skins with this new system, or what I said with the Fortnite crew.
And I don't know why people are crying about it. I would want everyone to play with their favorite character or skin, and like you said, the price of the skin will be higher than if you got it from the Battle Pass.

Benefit - that change let Epics include in BattlePass better skins and stuff because it's their future revenue. Today all Epic's efforts and investments into BP stuff very temporary and limited.
I think that this affecting only future battlepasses is only temporary. I think they’re just testing and seeing how the community will react. They know they’re missing out on a lot of money by not returning OG skins. As an OG myself, I just want other players to enjoy the cosmetics. I think every battlepass from CH1S2 - CH5S3, should return as well. No one cares about exclusive pixels anymore. It’s nearly chapter 6. Cosmetics shouldn’t be exclusive. At some point in time, OG passes will return. Knowing epic they wouldn’t turn down a cash grab like that.

You know the ‘Released in: …’ thing that always shows with every item ever? Why not bring old characters back to the shop too, but have them had n updated tag to the season they first appeared in the shop again. OG’s keep the rarity, new players enjoy the OG skins. Everybody happy, right?
Battlepasses should be at least somewhat exclusive, so you can say "I was there. I was playing in that chapter. Here's the proof."
Selling them later is fine if they change the skin style or colour somewhat, so you can tell the difference. Just like they did with the Fornite OG pass.
