Everyone knows the pain of discovering a skin that looks cool that you want. Only to discover it was from the battle-pass.
Heck with the release of Festival and it using battle-pass skins for the stage NPCs like DJ Yonder, Highwire, Meow skulls and Selene there are going to be people that are annoyed about them not being obtainable again.
If they ever release an option to buy the battle pass again im never buying one again I dont like people using the same skin as me unless its a skin like spider man which makes sense. I rather not be able to get Midas than have Iron man be available for everyone to get. I think it would be fair if when they release the pass again it cost 2,000 v bucks and they have to do all the work that everyone else had to do but they dont get the bonus styles.

It's honestly baffling Epic hasn't resold battle passes yet. There are people who buy accounts third party to have the skins they want, meaning they'll spend more money than Epic would charge for money that's not even going to them. As a new player I'd like to let Epic know that their kneecapping the amount of replayability the game has for me if half the characters I would want to rep and be willing to pay them for are locked away with no way to get them back. My brother said he might bee willing to play if he could get the Peter Griffin skin, well he can't so that's one less player keeping the game running. As someone who signed on for the Avatar event, I'm not mad when I see another Aang, I'm happy we both appreciate a series I really enjoy. Besides, they're really shooting themselves in the foot not having a way to sell people, say, Deadpool right when the new movie comes out, or Spider man whenever the next movie is.
Alternately, I do agree I'd much prefer they just allow battle pass skins to become available in the shop. In fact, they'd probably stand to make more money that way since most skins charge for more than the battle passes, and the limited shop availability still has a fomo element, meaning people would be likely to jump for a skin like Spiderman, since who knows when he'd roll back around?

I strongly agree with this. I've said this similarly in another fortnite video but the possibility of paying 10 dollars for any of the previous battle passes (as long as you grind for the quests) would really make bank from every customer paying for them. I really don't understand why not.

the problem is they feel like that will remove the exclusivity aspect and devalue the battle pass as a season 7 og i also want this but i feel like you have to make it a hard expensive grind to do it late just to make it stay exclusive

It's like preordering a game and your reward for doing so is a skin or two. But then you realize that any other joe can buy the preorder bonuses later on as DLC, now of they make another game you'll just wait instead of preordering because it's supposed to be your reward for buying the game early. If you take that away most people wouldn't preorder it.
Its just like with Battle passes and limited time skins, they *COULD* bring those back for lots of money but they don't for the respect for their audience. They built a relationship with their players to where they wouldn't bring back a certain skin just because that's their reward for giving the game the time of day while everyone else didn't care about fort. Epic loves money, everyone does, but the fact they don't go back on their word with exclusive skins shows the audience that they mean business if a skin is limited time and they get it before it's over.
Them bringing back battle passes as item shop purposes would definitely devalue their purpose because thats your reward for playing the game at that time, and it's your way of saying "I waa playing since blank chapter"
I started off on chapter 3, there are a lot of skins from previous Bps im missing and wanted but im not gonna beg them to bring them back. At least they compromise by giving us different variants In the item shop.
Maybe they should let you pay extra for the previous season’s battle pass. Let’s say it’s s8. You can buy the s7 battle pass for double~ the price until the end of season 8. At the start of s9, you can no longer buy s7, but you can buy s8 still (with the markup).
While typing this I realise how kinda dumb my idea sounds, but it seems like our best bet is to just let people finish battle passes they bought after the season ends and to stop putting collabs in them.
The biggest problem is the OGs trying to gatekeep the old battle passes. Because they’re scared that “fake OGs” will be more common. Like tf does that even mean? Who cares, really? Let me play as Deadpool instead of the fake ones that are in the item shop.
I also think the challenge event rewards should be in the item shop. I missed the slushee backbling from No Sweat Summer. They should either bring back the event or put it in the item shop. I’m fine with either one.

As someone who joined this game just this season and missed all the past ones ... I second this idea. I would love the chance to purchase past collab skins, given there's a lot I'd love to play as.
Honestly, people only tend to use a couple of their favorite skins, their oldest skin, or a skin from the current or last battle pass. The amount of battle pass skins that are just wasting away in people's lockers is massive. Epic could evolve Fortnite: OG into a rotating selection of older seasons, maybe limited to the first chapter at first, where players will have time to do an accelerated season, and past players are able to earn super level styles, or remixed skins. The major necessity is that the original players who played that season's battle pass have something to play as well.
As someone who has every single battle pass maxed out (except Ch1 S2-3), I wouldn't mind if they would rerelease battle passes. It is VERY annoying to be missing black knight and the reaper no matter what I do, I wouldn't even mind paying double for the battle passes to grind for once. I just like to collect cosmetics, I don't really care about rarity at this point.
There were times where I wanted to just take a break from the game, but FOMO works way to well. If I miss a BP, i'll never get it again
I believe FOMO should NOT be used to advertise a Battle Pass. all it takes is one thing to force Epic to rerelease battle passes and basically screw over the people who played since Day 1 of Fortnite itself

@@TB11484 But how does it "screw over" anyone, it is a skin of a character, it means literally nothing, if you're talking about the value of skins, technically you aren't allowed to sell accounts with rare skins anyways, nobody actually loses anything, plus they might give out a compensation reward like they did when skull trooper got rereleased, with a special variant for original users. I also played day 1, i have the maxed out ch1. s3 and 4 battle pass skins, i would not care at all if they made those skins available once more.
thats why they should make it like Minecraft Dungeons and make it so you can switch between battle passes whenever you want. keep weekly challenges and the XP from them the same but have it so you can level up one Battle Pass at a time

@@TB11484 For me I barely played Fortnite during Chapter 2 and almost missed out a bunch of collab BPs because of the toxic playerbase that was still common, also some of my friends were really toxic back then they ended up unfriending me too for no reason (they made excuses to me saying that I was garbage at anything) and that really make me hate on this game alot instead! 😔
I thought Halo Infinite handled the battlepass system the best, sure it’s not a perfect game but they handle battlepasses quite well.
Each season is permenant and can be bought at any time, regardless of if you played it or not, like if you started at let’s say on the third battlepass, you could buy the previous two if you wanted. Weaponising FOMO just somewhat proves that gaming companies that actually pay attention to their communities don’t really care about their players as much we thought they would.
The difference is Halo Infinite is newer so they had time to work and refine how it worked meanwhile Epic when they added them it was a newer concept and from the very beginning promised they'd be exclusive so bringing them back would be lying to older players who believed they'd never return
I'm glad this conversation is being brought up again, as someome who came for Dragon Ball during Vibin', I missed out on a lot of stuff that I would've liked since I was part of that "Fortnite bad" hate circle back when it got popular even when I was the same age of the people that were being "cringe"(also bc I didn't like building). So seeing that I can't get Rick Sanchez or Spider-Man or missing Spider-Gwen from not buying the bp and taking a break during her season from burnout is such a frustrating feeling(especially with the stuff I got from the free part of the pass). So, I hope they come up with some solution that pleases the majority of sane people that don't throw a fit over "rare" skins or "being there first".
I think the way they handled skull trooper worked really well. Rerelease the skin as normal, but just add a style to the original skin that only the og owners get access to.
Yeah but some skins like renegade raider and aerial assault trooper need to stay exclusively OG. These were advertised as Season 1 limited edition season shop skins- If Epic brings them back I’ll never touch the game again.

I think they should just bring back skins as recolors or different than the og one but very close to them. Like Fortnite rereleasing Lynx as Trailblazer Lynx.
Epic very much promotes the idea of account selling when they advertise exclusively in these cosmetics. Yet it’s against tos and it causes problems. When I say it promotes account selling, I mean they literally advertise these skins as valuable and rare and of course that encourages people to buy accounts. I understand why epic doesn’t want skins to be traded or sold but it makes no sense to promote exclusively while simultaneously restricting elements that will come with that exclusivity. The issue of account selling is strictly on epic for promoting this culture around their skins.

In CODM, they recently added the future were you can buy preosvios Battle Passes. I know its not Fortnite, but its something that can definitely happen.

I’m came in pretty late to Fortnite, like within the past year. As much as I love Star Wars and marvel I wasn’t too cut up I missed them. The ONE time I stoped playing was of course the time they teamed up with transformers and I MISSED it😭
I 100% agree with this. As a player, I had a stacked account the first chapter. But my account randomly got deleted for no given reason in chapter 2. A bigger mental hurdle than just missing out on skins like these? Losing them. Some of my favorite skins to wear were just lost forever, and I couldn’t do anything about it. So I really hope they bring back old battle pass skins, so I, and m many, many others with similar experiences, could get those skins back and relive the glory days of Fortnite.
The same happened to me in c1s4, i had full battlepass and was a few levels off maxing Omega when i just lost my account randomly. i also had both the Black Knight and John Wick that are now lost forever. (though i honestly prefer the newer skins icl, the old ones are cool but the new ones are better)
Yes and not to mention now they are all the skins getting made into Lego versions. I love Lego Fortnite and I’m seeing all sorts of old characters visiting my village.

The way I think it could work is have it so you can buy multiple battle passes at once and have them running at the same time, it would make the game feel more busy which could lead to less boring games

no, they should have a menu where you select which battle pass you wanna grind on, keep XP rewards the same BUT have it so the XP only goes to the Battle Pass you select. which would also help Epic in stomping out the account selling market that is against Terms of Service and let people get their favorite collab and Fortnite characters they missed out on like Rick Sanchez or Meow Skulls

If they explicitly enable old battle passes (which is internally possible) the unlocking of purchasing previous ones could depend on your account level, maybe you can get a new season every 300-600 levels (obviously after an initial amount based on your current level)

Epic could totally do this, and from a business standpoint, really should. Not only would it boost their already insane revenue, but get more players playing consistently to get the skins they missed. Another thing it would do is make their competitors panic and scramble from the huge shakeup. I feel the only people that would be against this would be a vocal minority of people who don't realize how much Epic took advantage of their FOMO, or account sellers. I don't really care enough about the collab skins, sure they can be cool, like Peter Griffin, but I mostly want the Fortnite Original characters like Kit, Meowscles, Livewire, etc.
Epic already solved this problem with skull trooper. Give bp owners new edit styles and keep super styles exclusive to original buyers
Or just make skins have different colours or looks/ remix then like they did with Midas and make it so that they are just another style to the skin and keep the originals as exclusive skins

They should just switch to the Halo Infinite Battle pass system with a bit of tweaks:
Allow every old battle pass to be purchasable. Every past battle pass should cost around 1500-2000 vbucks. You can pick any one battle pass to “prioritize” (basically where you’re putting your xp/battle stars in) per season. You can switch between them whenever, just know that switching them means the previously selected battle pass will stop earning xp/battle stars (or switch all battle passes to the battle stars system so they can become universally used as one “old pass battle stars” currency you get from level up and you can purchase any item from any pass bought so long you’ve bought everything from the previous pages of the pass). So with one active pass at a time, players can spend the season earning stars and buying items from old passes using the stars gained from level up. Any old battlepasses bought don’t need to be rebought and keep their old progress (so long as the xp and stars and stuff translates well). All battlepasses keep progress of where they are and can be completed anytime, so long as they are in “priority.” This seems like the easiest option to me.
Now how about new current season battle passes? How will they work? Well they can kinda just keep doing what they’re doing now but use extra incentives:
Current season battle passes will always be at the “discounted” price (so since it’s CH5 S1, the CH5 S1 battlepass will be 950 vbucks for the whole season) until the season ends, incentivizing people to purchase battle passes NOW rather than LATER. Basically keeps the FOMO aspect they love to use against their customers so much without actually changing the price on current battle passes. Also, current battle passes wouldn’t count towards the “priority” limit. I think a phenomenal incentive would be allowing people to work on 2 passes at once, the current one and any old one of your choosing. This allows players to feasibly “catch up” on any old battlepasses while also being able to work on the new ones. If they switch to an all battle stars system, they can separate them by giving you 5 “current season” battle stars and 5 “any old season” battle stars per level up BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE CURRENT SEASON PASS. Basically, if you buy the pass now, you get to purchase it at a lower price AND can work on any old battle pass alongside with it. They can also make the super styles current-season exclusives but that’s kinda iffy since you can argue that they’re crucial to old passes too but whatever. If they’re really greedy they can make it so only current season passes have vbucks as rewards but again that can cause some outrage as well.
This works the best for everyone since anybody who likes new battle passes will be able to work on them straight from the get go and are rewarded for purchasing them in the same season they’re released in since they get to buy it at their “lower”price and get the opportunity to work on another pass as well. This will push people on the fence on purchasing new passes since they don’t have to worry about feeling like they’re wasting their time and if they kinda want to buy it then it’s better to buy it now since it’s cheaper. People who don’t want to buy the new passes can work on old ones one at a time, that way they will still be encouraged to play the game and complete quests during the new current season. This will retain so many players as they won’t skip out on playing the game for seasons on end just because the battle pass rewards are uninteresting to them or the new season map sucks or the meta sucks or literally any other reason to not play. This gives players the freedom to work on whichever passes they want whenever they want, but also keeps a sense of FOMO where it’s encouraged to buy the pass now if you’re interested rather than later. But if you do change your mind, you can always get it later, just know that there’s a bigger price to pay. Also they’re definitely going to need to make more quests and lengthen the milestone ones for each season to account for people completing multiple passes in one season but that doesn’t seem too difficult of an accommodation to me.

They should rerelease Battle Passes. I’d love to finish the ones for Chapter 3, Season 3 and Chapter 4, Season 1, since I missed Darth Vader and The Ageless. I think the main issue with rereleasing Battle Passes is that grinding would be messed up, wouldn’t it?

The amount of money they’d make if they had their normal battle pass system, plus the also start a second battle pass system that loops back through the first couple battle passes and once a battle pass gets old enough, they add it to the old battle pass system. You can’t tell me people wouldn’t buy both battle passes at the same time

I think if they are going to implement a feature to get old battle pass skins, it'll be along an update where they have a playlist for all the different maps across the seasons, which is something that would probably be a chapter 6 feature because of how massive that would be.

@@redpanda345 yeah, playing new maps is fun, I mean, even in pubg they've had multiple maps available at once before, and it was fine, maybe it'll be on a rotation, but I'd definitely still play on the new maps to get the weekly quests done and just have a more fresh experience whenever I get tired of playing the old ones.

What I’m confused about tho is why can’t Epic bring back the old map exactly as it was. It was missing a few important pois like polar peak and happy hamlet in the mini OG season and Kevin didn’t even interact when you shot it in the floating island, meaning it was a creative asset that was copy pasted
It started as a shot now it's a rhythm game, Open world building game, and a Racing game these games have different fan bases that are now playing the game

And we're getting to the point where, before too long, we'll have people in the community who genuinely were not old enough to hold a video game controller that had absolutely no shot to get old cosmetics. If Fortnite persists for more than a decade more -- and I think it will -- this needs to be addressed. Its also just wasting a bunch of old cosmetics that Epic could capitalize on.

I completely agree! Literally selling old battle passes would give people a reason to actually play once passing the initial 100 levels of the current pass.
You will always have people unhappy with decisions the company makes no matter what it is. But the returning of old battle passes has more positives than negatives when it comes to benefitting the community. You can’t just have the negative minority be the deciding factor in a feature that is inevitable healthier for the game. They can’t rely on just the old players anymore, they have to look at the new players they are trying to gather in, the evolution of the game within just a few years shows that.
I don’t understand why people want to defend this FOMO and threaten to “quit the game” whenever this idea gets talked about.
I agree with you because it sucks I can’t play as Deadpool, Peely, Mandalorian, Superman, Wolverine, Spider-Man or any others just because I couldn’t play during the time. You’re also right on how it isn’t the same with different versions of the characters being the replacement for the battle pass versions so it does really suck to have some of the most iconic characters from media or even Fortnite’s own characters vaulted because it was only available for a limited time.
Epic needs to bring back chapter 2 season 2 battlepass, I just started playing Fortnite in chapter 4, and I really want Midas.

I absolutely agree with this. Everyone should have the chance in a way or another to enjoy and play old skins at any time, make them "exclusive" it only generate frustration to who is starting playing right now Fortnite and as you say the consequence to make something "exclusive" (in this case Fortnite skins) create "black markets" where accounts are sold for insanely prices.
Epic can easily make much more money selling the old skins individually in the shop than sell the pass, period.
I completely agree with you. Call Of Duty Mobile has a battle pass vault system where if you haven’t completed a previous battle pass you could get a discount on the battle pass.
When you think about it, every skin from the battle pass is a storyline character, even in extremely minor appearances such as loading screens between characters and Npcs on the map
Totally agreed here. I actually never knew all those skins I loved from artworks were behind a battle pass that are now gone forever and when I found out joining Chapter 4 Season 4, it was devastating. It actually got me feeling less hyped than I could have been. I actually would have spent waaaaay more money if my fav skins were available in some sorta way together with item shopped ones of today. But some skins being gone forever actually hoolds me back from spending more ironically..
I think Epic should allow players once every season to pay 950 vbucks for the current battle pass. Or pay 1300 vbucks or something to get an old battle pass they missed out on. I started playing on Chapter 4 Season 4 and it sucks knowing I’m not going to be able to get Rick Sanchez, Indiana Jones or Darth Vader

Ubisofts For Honor put in an interesting system of a legacy pass. Where along side the current seasons BP, a previous BP returns with the progress you’d left off at on that BP. It’d be pretty sweet if fortnite did something like that
I’m in the same boat! I missed basically all of the chapter 2 seasons so missed out on all these collabs that I would love to have now. It feels like a kick in the nuts seeing as I played the whole of chapter 1 maxing every battle pass then came back in chapter 3 and buy many skins every month.
Yeah totally, i actually created my account back in 2018 but never really had the urge to play Fortnite cause i simply was having fun with other games, then somehow i decided to just login in c2s4 (marvel season) and that time i literally only played 1 match-
-and claimed the thor contrail from the first bp page, that‘s literally it,and now that i have fully come back and started playing this game in c4s2, the regret of missing my favs like iron man, mandalorian,vader, spiderman, deadpool, midas,drift is insane like thinking i could’ve had them all.. the FOMO is just a stupid tactic
If epic re-releases battlepasses im done playing this game. season 3 is my favorite battlepass and I'd be mad seeing kids running around with the season 3 skins and using take the L. When they didnt even know how to walk when season 3 was first out.

I think they shouldn’t remove the battle passes after a season and you can buy them in a battle pass section. You could compete one a season and have your own battle pass for the new season. Like the Season 4 battle pass during Chapter 5 or the first battle pass next season

In my opinion licensed cosmetics should be available in the shop at a later date for the regular price where as anyone who earned them from the pass could be given a unique style for it (gold outfits, flames, mist etc) to keep some exclusivity plus they technically got it at a reduced price of 950 assuming you didn’t buy levels.
Personally I’d much rather they do like what Halo does where all passes are available buy and work on at any time or at least let you finish any you’ve previously bought but I think this would work as a compromise.
They should do like they did with Vigor . You can re purchase older passes that don't have a time limit on them and grind the current pass at the same time as older passes

I think this is a good idea. Doing this still gives people an incentive to keep buying battle passes and also plenty of people are willing to settle for non OG versions of an older skin. That way everyone wins

The maya and brella items (the custom ones) recently got selectable styles but you can only select default and the ones you unlocked in chapter 2 so we might be getting something like that that we can finish old quests and battlepasses
The real solution is to just stop putting collabs in battle passes and to let players finish their already-purchased battle passes after the season ends. That way collab skins aren’t lost to new players and people don’t have to grind on the last day of a season for lvl 100. Because, even after a *long* time, people will hate their exclusives returning.
Just don’t add collob items in the battle pass and that’s it

That "What's the point of playing anymore" part really resonates with me. I lost my account that I had Mancake on because someone tried to hack it, and Epic refused to give my account back because "we couldn't confirm you are the owner of the account". Now I have a secondary account for Fortnite that I never use. At most, I play Fortnite once every season. I've lost all interest, because I can't use my favorite character in the game. I just don't understand how you can tell a potential new player to go f themselves if they didn't play back in the day to unlock their favorite skins. It's dumb. Fortnite should do it, not because they need it, they never will, but because players need it. The players want it. And they are willing to pay for it.
I have an idea that would keep it fair. What if Epic made it so along with unlocking the seasoned victory-umbrella, you keep the ability to purchase the corresponding battle pass? That way a whole lot of people who played those seasons in the past will be able to enjoy the cosmetics they desire, without removing the exclusivity aspect. If they did, the whole point of the battle pass system would be defeated and there would be no incentive to grind for “outdated” cosmetics.

But truthfully, from a casual player standpoint, grinding at all isn’t really fun or worth it. Lets be honest Fortnite is not a very fun and engaging game to play alone. Unless you can play with friends it will give massive burnout very easily and not only that but new players will never get the chance in the first place whether they are willing to grind or not. (Thats not even taking into account that life can happen and get in the way) its fortnite skins, skins on a game. It should be fun not exhausting.

I disagree. To me, battle pass items are a badge of honor that represents peoples’ dedication to the game, and that should always be honored. And you say it’s “not the same” when original characters get reskinned in the shop, why isn’t it? It’s still that character in all their glory, and a lot of the time even improved. Having battle passes be timed exclusives also gets people to play more to grind, which makes epic more money because players will look at the shop. I think collabs should be able to come back though, I can’t imagine if I wasn’t able to get Iron Man or Spider-Gwen. The only way I’d be ok with originals coming back is if original owners got exclusive styles (ex. Reaper in a white suit or Ragnarok with Red horns) to honor their dedication to the game. That isn’t a new concept either, they did that with the “Ride the Pony” emote when all save the world owners were granted it, original owners got the “Pony Up” emote

I think if Epic does release old skins from battle passes, they should release any styles available up to level 100 of their respective BP. Let things like super styles or Omega lights remain “OG” so players who did play then get to have something to signify they did spend $8 roughly 6 years ago

I agree that collabs shouldn't be locked behind battle pass. But releasing old battle pass skins ? Yeah man, not happening. If Epic did this since the beginning of the game, i could see it. Brawl Stars actually does this now, every skin on the pass gets released one year after to be bought with gems. But they only started doing this after season 10, every pass skin before that is exclusive. And that's the major thing, when you buy a skin that's marketed as a limited time item you 100% expect it to be limited time only, if Epic released Black Knight in the shop people who bought it years ago would feel betrayed. Feeling special because you have a skin is dumb ? Yes, but i would argue caring about videogame cosmetics in general is dumb. Also, Epic has no reason to release old pass skin when they can just keep making new ones which people clearly still buy. Best case scenario is that half of the player base would be livid at Epic (look at the response they got after the movement change, now imagine it tenfold). Worst case scenario is they get sued by millions of dollars. Best they could do is just not release more collabs on the battle pass (unlikely option) or make some of the next battle pass skins exclusive for a limited time like you said (more likely), but either way Epic is never going to completely remove the exclusivity from the pass nor release old pass skins, is just the model they themselves popularized and it's working for them for almost 7 years now.
moreover, Brawl stars also includes a looot of progression resources , so there's another reason to buy it apart from the skin, something that fortnite doesn't have. I do think it would be cool if they could let us complete old passes tho

I am a huge fan of the midas skin, but I didnt have a pc or console during that time and its really frustrating knowing I can never get that specific skin. Like what if fortnite added a trading system, then it fixes the problem of selfish people that gatekeep these skins from complaining and still hold their value whilst new players could have a chance at getting it.
