As someone that was catfished by a person using a handsome, yet normal looking picture of a guy, after I found out who was doing it (a girl- we became friends irl after meeting her fake male persona, but before knowing for sure it was her), the part that bothered me the most was all the lies and amount of time I wasted talking to this person. You come up with an idea of this person in your head and when it turns out to be a lie, it really hurts. I found out for a fact after I had already stopped talking to them for the most part. I was able to confront her in person and she was honest about it and deleted the fake profile she had. It still hurt though.
