    Every time I use seeding straw it ends up sprouting weeds. Do you have any suggestions on preventing this? God bless!

    I loved this. I want to do it on raised bed, but I prefer containers so I can take it with me whenever Or if I move just because it take such a long time to grow. One question, will it survive throw snow? I live in Kansas City and we get snow sometimes.

    Thanks for this video. I did not know that they could be grown in pots or containers. Do you think that they can be grown in south Louisiana? We do have a lot of heat during the summer and at time plenty of rain. You and Nancy have a Happy Holiday Season.

    Florida has a lot of pine trees. Is it wise to collect the fallen pine needles to use as mulch?

      Pine needles are Very acidic, not many plant choices for growing near or under evergreen tree.

      Not required for snow or ice but helps with water moisture retention

    thank you so much for this video iv been waiting for this video update I cut mine back months ago and they haven't grown back since and we were in a severe drought here in Georgia even after Hurricane Matthew I'm in Zone 7b, will they grow back in the spring since I cut them back in the summer there 2 year old roots I think

    • @HollisNancysHomestead
      @HollisNancysHomestead  7 лет назад

      They should not be cut back if they are still green. If they don't emerge in the spring they are most likely dead. You can replant and give it another try. Remember, it is not failure if we learn from it. Don't give up, you are now more experienced. We learn more from our mistakes than we do from our successes

      I figured that lol ,I have one root that is still green from the whole patch that I planted that I didn't cut and survived the drought , so I'll wait to see what happens in the spring ,thanks for the help Happy Holidays and God Bless you guys

    Would it be a good idea to plant strawberries in large pots together with asparaguses?

    • @HollisNancysHomestead
      @HollisNancysHomestead  3 года назад +1

      I would not plant anything in the pots with them. They have a massive root system and will starve the berries

  • @daniellewilson4778

    When the asparagus get root bound in a few years can I re-pot them or plant them into the ground? I don’t have ground space now, but probably will in a few years.

      I purchased the containers shown in this video at LOWES. I now purchase all my containers online from Zen Hydro. They have professional grade containers for the same price as the containers I was buying at LOWES. I am very pleased with their containers. Here is a link to their website:

      I went to the website at the link you posted but I can't find any growing containers - except growing bags which they are apparently out of. I say apparently because even though they don't tell you it's out of stock on their product page (which they should) they then take you to a page that says "you have 0 items in your cart." Then you have to try to navigate back to their product page - which can only be done by returning to the home page and starting all over at the beginning...which I did several times - and got the same message and had to repeat the entire process. VERY FRUSTRATING.
      This website is NOT user friendly. I finally gave up on them. I can't waste any more time on a website that can't be bothered to make itself user accessible. I would call them for assistance but they don't even list a business phone number on their contact page.
      Never mind. I'll look elsewhere.
