The ADV350 is a great scoot by all accounts. I've got the Xmax 300 as you know and the ADV 350 is actually one I'd definitely recommend as an alternative. It looks and rides brilliantly. Thanks for another great vid Quasi. Glad your hand is better!
If they bring the ADV350 to the USA, I'd definitely consider getting it to replace my Honda NC700XDCT and Piaggio Liberty 150. The ADV350 looks to be absolutely perfect for my needs. If not, I'd still consider an Xmax but the thing that concerns me a little bit is my highway commute. I only do it twice a week but it is 70 miles (35mi each way), 100% highway. I also much prefer the looks for the ADV over the Xmax, but either one is pretty sleek!
🤣 LOL! You've got that right! I cut out the part where I ran 2 red lights... no stopping down here on a bike unless you're ready to exercise your 2A rights! 😉👍 --QM
it was so hot yesterday that i got dizzy and when i pulled off my helmet it and my head was soaking wet. and i only road 11 miles. and i think i hit every redlight and had to set at each one at least a minute. OMG it was hot.
I’m burning my ass off commuting everyday, but my ‘22 500X never leaves me stranded! I do want another bike, but I am unclear which one. Didn’t know you’re in the same area I am. Ride safe brother!
Thanks! I try to keep all of my machines in top mechanical and cosmetic condition. I purchased this bike several years ago as an insurance salvage for only $1600. I had to replace all of the plastics, handlebars, and the front forks to put it back on the road, but the total investment was only $2400. We've ridden it over 20K miles and had lots of fun with it. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
I've been hoping that Honda would bring the ADV 350 over, but who knows... Did you consider tapping a donor Torx socket into the caliper bolt (maybe with heat and penetrating oil, too)? It amazes me the number of people who don't think a torque wrench is necessary. I've spent a fair time on those Eado roads and they're an excuse to see a chiropractor.
I’ve given up on the ADV 350 coming to the states. Probably going to pick up a 2023 Yamaha XMAX 300 to fill the highway capable scooter needs. They re designed it for this year and got rid of the ugly looking turn signals. Plus it has some cool new tech, like phone connect with navigation on a 4” display.
Great minds think alike! I'm a die-hard Honda fan, so Ive been holding out for the Honda Forza 350 or ADV350. The Yamaha XMAX 300 has been my second choice for the past several years. Yamaha might getting some of my hard-earned $$$ very soon! 😉👍 --QM
How do you have batteries dying from lack of use? With the amount of motorcycle knowledge you have, and your penchant for preparedness and having the right tool for the job, I'm surprised that you don't have at least one or two battery tenders that you could rotate from bike to bike periodically (as needed) to keep the batteries all in good condition and the bikes all ready-to-ride at a moments notice.
🤣 LOL, right?! I have a couple of battery maintainers and one larger NOCO charger/reconditioner. The problem is that I don't have enough chargers for all the bikes, and I forget to reconnect them to the bikes that are stored for long periods. For a long time, I had a weekend routine for rotating through the bikes to keep the batteries and fuel fresh in all of them. I fell out of my routine a while ago, and now the lesser-used bikes are going to pot. Too many toys and too little time. It's time to downsize. 😉👍 --QM
Ok I would really like your opion on the the New to North America XR150L. The cheapest new addition to the honda market . And man I can't say how much I like the stock seat but the driver foot pegs have to go . The Navi although insanely fun to drive . Has been replaced by the smooth and comfortable XR150L Dual Sport or should I keep the Navi , XR150L , GL1800 . small/medium/large. I think the XR150L seat mounted to the Navi AHHH!!!! Perfection. We need your humble advice again .
Howdy, Phil! I haven't ridden the XR150L yet, but I'm hoping to buy a white one very soon. I plan to give a thorough review and comparison against similar bikes in my stable, namely the Honda CRF150L (off-road) and the Yamaha XT250 (dual-sport). Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
White is the way to go , as a poster took a black one on a bushy trail and declared it showed many scratches afterwards. As always thanks for your Chanel and opions, My apologies that the Quebec Brothers had a great idea and almost got it right . But move out of the heat and slam the throttle on a (Skidoo) guaranteed to put a smile on your face ,✌.
As far as the stuck bolts... have you tried using some grease and letting it sit for a little?? This does sound crazy. And possibly getting new bolts since the old one were stripped badly?
The stuck bolts on the Ducati Monster are a real pain. The problem right now is there is a seized screw in fuel tank, and I can't get the battery out of the bike until that tank comes off. The screw is stuck in a brass bung that's "welded" into the plastic fuel tank. The bung is sandwiched against the bike's frame, so I can't reach it to try epoxy or something to give mechanical advantage. I don't want to use too much heat or force that might damage the fuel tank... so, it's just sitting there until I have the motivation to revisit it. The other seized bolts in the brake calipers and other parts of the bike can be addressed with traditional approaches... penetrating oil, impact guns, torches... or just cut-off tools and bolt extractors! 😉👍 --QM
Chief difference is the 160 has the top end limiter at 73 mph. That's 7 more than the 150. 1 hp more due to 6cc more displacement in the engine, and two extra valves. I've heard fuel economy is the same, but I presume that's only because the difference is so minor, most don't notice it.
@@tigonridge Thanks for the info, I think they should have beefed it up a little more, I own a adv 150 and feel it lacks a little over 30 mph, I just got the scl500 and its plenty.
@@michaelgaliazzi9400 The 150cc class bikes are meant to be small, lightweight, very nimble, and super fuel efficient, while being able to reach highway speeds. Something like a 200-300c might be what you're looking for, but for a lot of people, myself included, large bikes have more cons than pros, compared to a 150cc, which to me is the sweet spot. It's the Toyota Camry of bikes. But I'm 5'4" and lightweight. I guess tall, heavy riders may benefit more from mid-size bikes. The 150cc can't do 65mph when going up a steep incline, which imo is their only glaring limitation.
I’m trying to decide what to get next also. Ready for something bigger than my rebel 300. Wanting something more comfortable for my 15 mile commute. Can’t decide between a 2023 cb500x, 2024 shadow phantom, or going big with a rebel 1100t. If I did used maybe a silverwing scoot.
@@inseasonandoutofseason no it’s based off the rebel platform and in my opinion it’s to small size wise. That’s my main issue with the 300 now. I got forward controls and a Corbin seat on it and I want something I can stretch out more on. Feels a little cramped.
I haven't ridden the new Honda scramblers yet, but I'm not very enthusiastic toward them. They are closely based on the Rebel platform with minor changes. That means the frames aren't designed with standard/ADV geometry, so they will have limited ground clearance and all the same limitations of a cruiser. The suspension has reportedly been extended by an inch or two, and the wheels are slightly larger. However, those are cast aluminum wheels instead of spoked rims, so they won't have any flex for off-road impacts. I think Honda could have created a more interesting Scrambler with the existing CB500F. Strip the street plastics, add tubeless spoked wheels, a round LED headlight, a high-swept exhaust, and a flat seat... DONE! 🤔👍 --QM
you could ride all year long down here in New Zealand as the temps aint to bad, AND you would save money on gas cause the national speed limit is 60 mph hahaha
I was in Houston a couple years ago, and I saw a school bus blow a red light through a left turn I'm like huh, some jackass driving a vehicle they obviously don't have a license for. Nope. They were dropping off kiddos at the school just down the road. People in Houston are wild, some of the worst psychotic drivers Ive ever come across...you have a 60mph national speed limit? Yep, I've even caught that nonsense on video multiple times. The incident that really floored me was when a loaded school bus passed me at 70+ MPH on a highway feeder road with a posted limit of 45 MPH. The maniac ran through a red light as cars were already beginning to roll through on the other side. City Metro buses aren't any better, and those things are loaded with onboard cameras. It surprises me that there aren't stiffer penalties for that behavior... tickets aren't a deterrent, so maybe mandatory jail time would sober them up. Unfortunately, Houston has a long-standing culture of speeding, and it's pervasive across drivers of all agees and professions. Cops routinely speed everywhere they go all the time without running code (lights/sirens)... 35+ MPH over posted limits on surface streets and 60+ MPH through neighborhoods and school zones is a routine occurrence. They don't set good examples, don't enforce speed limits (except when they need money), and that behavior degenerates the public's incentive to drive nice. Anyone who tries to drive responsibly and maintain a reasonable speed or following distance is the "enemy" and gets bullied off the roads around here. Big city traffic always sucks, but Houston REALLY sucks! 😒👎 --QM

Get a smaller bike not a bigger one. The smaller bikes are easier to ride and safety is not as much of a mental factor. Light and torquey.

Before going the tapping route on the calliber bolt..maybe try flattening opposite sides of the bolt to get some grip..its worked for me at times
