I ride a 2018 CB500F in the UK after moving up from a CB125R. Does a great job for what I need it for. Mostly town riding with the odd trip out at the weekend. I can fill it up at the start of the month for £14 and its still going at the end of the month even with days out doing 100+ miles. Also capable of highway speeds hitting 80+. Any higher than that without a windshield is not a comfortable ride!
Have to agree with everything you said about this bike. After a 17yr break from riding I've just purchased a CB500F and it has been the perfect bike for getting reacquainted with biking. Not great at speeds above 70mph and doesn't 'tip in' like a sports bike but that is why I bought it.
Your info was so helpful - thank you! You and I are the same size/weight, so, knowing that the bike fits you is good to know. I have yet to sit on a CB, but I found that a V-Strom 650 feels comfortable (but costs much more).
I picked up myself a CB500R. I just started riding and I love the bike. I feel comfortable and I think the bike is forgiving when you make a mistake. I know im not fast, but my end state wasn't to be fast, I wanted a bike I can learn and build my skills with the fundamentals of ridding.
And that is what it is all about. Work on being smooth and controlled. Speed comes with time and practice. Take any courses you can. Including a track day working with an instructor. You will learn a ton that can be utilized on the road too. Ashley learned a ton at the track. There are videos of that day too. To many think they can just jump on a bike and ride like Marquez or Rossi. Wreck, get hurt or killed and end their motorcycling before they even really start. Enjoy the bike, use your head, and be safe.
You can't go wrong with a Honda. The 500 will have a bit more power and be better on the highway. But I have not heard anything bad about the Kawasaki either. So I would say, pick the one that you like the looks of.
Yep, wrong date. Bike is fun. Ashley loves it. She has even taken it to the track. And we have video coming of her in the Tail of the Dragon with it also.
@@LiterPlus thought so 🙂 I am still messing about with mine trying to get it sorted because apart from that its a good cam. On thing I noticed is if you do a test video and the date is wrong , you can click on the date while playing back the video and it will set the correct date. Not a perfect solution but it helps.
Small town Oklahoma, U.S. once you get out of town and on the highways and 2 lane roads they are a lot better. Towns have to take care of their own roads and usually do not have the funds to keep them up. Keeps the speed down in town too. If you watch some of my other videos you will see that we have some nice roads too.
I think you spoke about me :D ( girl bike situation) i still considering x or F:D . On our hightways in my country is speed limit 130km/h I think about 82mph. Some people say its little uncomfy at this spead, wind and shaking. Did Ashly or you try about 80mph or more ? I want to kinda use it like touring bike for longer trips maybe visit another cuntry ( in europe not that far) :D and stuff like this. Do you still recomend it even for this ?
Yeah, we have both been 80 + on the highway. Definitely add a wind screen. It definitely made a huge difference. Especially if you are planning long trips.
Should be comfortable on long rides. Sitting on it, it feels like my CB1000R. The seating position is very similar. And I have been doing 400 to 500 mile days easily on it.
@@LiterPlus Now i have just pcx 125 (scooter) :D soo for me it will be diferent sitting possition:D . Thanks for everythink. I am afraid that i have to decide just on rewiews and users opinions because in my country It is like pre-order or nothink :( I called to some dealers and no pieces on stock or for trying. That who came is gone immediately.
It is the same here. Dealerships can't get bikes in fast enough. We walked in when they were rolling it onto the floor. And we bought it right away. Here used ones are going for new price because of the shortage of bikes.
It stops fine. The brakes do not have the feel of either one of my liter bikes. But it also doesn't have the power or the tires either. They work great for what the bike is. It also has the linked brake system. So it really helps it feel better when using the rear with the front. The only place I think you might be able to tell it's a single disk is if you are braking a lot and hard. Like at the track. I can report more on that in 2 weeks. We will have it at the track then.
Hello im 17 years old and 6'6 i weigh 220 and ive been riding dirtbikes for a while and Im thinking of getting a real bike but I make every bike I sit on look like a grom but I saw this seat height was 41 inches. Would you recommend this?
I am 6 feet and 220 myself. It fits me about perfect. I don't know what bike you won't look big on. But this bike will definitely fit you better than a CBR.
This is a parallel twin so it is lighter. It also has ABS, and fuel injection. The suspension is far superior and the design of the bike overall is completely different.
It can do the speed no problem, and maybe I just have a flat ass but the seat is not very comfortable for extended trips, have a 2019 with almost 7k kms on it. First bike. I really like the bike and plan on keeping it so thinking about a Corbin seat or something similar
We live in a small town. So they are rough. The actual roads and highways are not to bad. And it really varies state to state here. Richer states have nicer roads.
There are companies that make lowering link kits. If you do lower one end, Make sure to lower the other end the same amount. This will ensure that the bike retains its handling characteristics. Ashley is 5 foot 4 inches. Touches on her tip toes. But we are leaving it stock height. That way she will be used to tall bikes and able to ride one of mine if the need arises.

Good point, 70mph is plenty fast enough on a bike these days, gombeens everywhere you turn!
