Classy guy-great attitude.Wish him the best.
I'm in Huntsville. We evacuated beforehand. Came home to home okay but no power, no generator, gas lines look like parades, trees down on power lines. Heat index 103. No cooling centers, no help. Food is gone. And guess what?, haven't seen any crews working on down trees! Praying for power back on soon😢
@kristinparish9573 same here. We were hit hard in Angleton, Texas. It looks like our town blew up. They have hundreds of trucks, and I have seen them working on lines. The power companies probably need to keep the branches cut lower. It seems they no longer check for trees on lines. I'm ticked. There is now no gas in the pumps in most of the town. We just got the generator going. The first time we have used it. I bought it years ago during another hurricane where we spent weeks without electricity, so I got it home and walked in the house and lights were on....I just put it away. This is ridiculous! Not to mention, they are converting to solar....but why????? We have hail storms here. Who's bright idea is that! Is there anyone in office with a brain? No one has thought out going from fossil fuels to clean energy. Humanity is dumbing down.
I am just so damn heartbroken for the older people and little babies who dont have generator
Just had an old buddy of mine I grew up with and I’ve known his family pretty much my entire life. My powers was restored that same evening. He lives on the street behind me and he came over yesterday to tell me that they still had no power and he has elderly mother that’s about 90 years old. Me and the wife went to work and ran a long extension cord to help them out.
@@ARod-br2ui You are a doer not a talker.

@@ARod-br2ui that’s what I’m talking about we gotta be there for one another they are lucky to have you God bless.
Keep gas tank at 3/4 or higher from June 1st,put cash aside weekly, make a hurricane box, get car serviced July 1, have evac route and alternate planned. Evac sooner than those around especially near coast.
Since it was “only” a Cat 1, people couldn’t evacuate, not if you have an in person job and wanted to keep it. Agree with the rest but even if you prepped, the utility companies failed us. I work from home but no power or internet. It really sucks.
@@DebraJohnson true, the job did try to kill me. Being a disaster trained RN, work during day, evacuated with 2 kids, dogs, cats, goats in evening and manager was a terrorist. That's not just cause for firing.
Applause to that guy. I can only imagine how hard it can be especially with the heat right after the hurricane and no power, but the guy's got the right attitude. Things will get better, and hopefully very soon he'll be able to walk into his home and be greeted with some nice AC and maybe an Astros game for the weekend.
Astros played last night.

I’m in La Porte about 1/4 mile from the bay. No storm deadly surge here. Just enough to damage fishing piers. The wind and rain was the issue with this storm. It dampened the soil and blew down old dying trees and tree limbs causing the power outages. That is a problem here because Centerpoint doesn’t trim the trees away from power lines the way HLP used to back in the day. Environmentalists and shade lovers complained about the trees being destroyed, but this is the fallout of that thinking. I’m thinking…so plant the trees away from the power lines and keep them trimmed and healthier.
Btw, power came back on for me last night. So it’s all good. This too shall pass. But I will be thanking my Creator for his blessings more today. Some times it takes a storm to remind is to do that.
True but I first read Applause as, "Applesauce"
Been through Alicia, Allison, Rita, Ike and Harvey. This is how it always is. Sucks, but that’s life along the coast. I will take hurricanes over earthquakes any day of the week. Stay safe out there!
Yes this is how it always is … it seems like ppl forget

I researched the history of tropical storms that have impacted Houston. The Wikipedia page I reviewed is for Texas and only goes back to 1980, but long enough for my memory. There were a lot I forgot about, mostly because they did not personally impact my life in a negative way. The first two on the list, for example…
“August 10, 1980 - Hurricane Allen makes landfall near Brownsville as a Category 3 hurricane. A wind gust of 140 mph (230 km/h) is reported in Port Mansfield. Heavy rainfall is reported across South Texas, with a peak of 20.2 in (510 mm) in Kingsville. Nearly all structures on South Padre Island are destroyed. At least 12 tornadoes are also reported as a result of Allen. One damages hangars and aircraft at Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, causing $250 million in damages. Two deaths are directly attributed to Allen, both of which are drownings in the Corpus Christi area, with five others indirectly killed. An estimated $600 million in damages are attributed to Allen.”
“September 5, 1980 - Tropical Storm Danielle makes landfall near Galveston Bay as a weak tropical storm. As it moves inland, it causes severe and widespread flooding across Texas. Areas are inundated by the rain, peaking at 18.29 in (465 mm) in Nederland. One person is killed due to rains associated with Danielle.”
I was in high school at the time and remember my friends cracking jokes about Allen like, “Well, there goes my spring break.” Beyond that I don’t remember much except that it was “a bad storm down there” rather than all this national outcry/bs over climate change. People pitched in to aid the recovery, we moved on and didn’t fret. We knew there would be another one at some point and did what we needed to prepare. One month later, Danielle was heading our way.
I remember it was a blessing because we were in a severe drought and needed the rain.
Beyond that, I don’t remember much. Life went on as usual. I think we have lost that. I think we, as a society, are focused too much on the bad because the news media is always hyping it and shoving it in our faces. Back then we only had the news at 5, 6 and 10, and only if we were home to watch it. Now we have it 24/7 wherever we go. Can’t even go to a restaurant to get away from it anymore, because television are everywhere. It’s too much. Just like George Orwelle’s novel “1984” and I am tired of it.
Yeah it is i think ive been through this scenario about 20 times. You have two options in houston either get a back up plan such as a generator and AC unit or leave the city before the storm.
Lived through Alicia Allison The Northridge Earthquake Harvey and Beryl.
Don’t stay in a flood zone and don’t build on the side of a mountain. It’s not that hard to understand. Natural Disasters will happen.
Most importantly AlWAYS stay prepared!
I remember when ppl used to board up their homes and businesses with the tape and wood boards and evacuate. We brought out all the camping supplies. We cooked on BBQ pits. Ppl don’t do that anymore. What exactly do they expect?
Going to work is crazy.. at least give folks a day to readjust
@@CrownxMe7
The people that don’t need to be at work aren’t. And lots of business are closed simply because they have no power. That means employers are losing money and their employees aren’t getting paid. That isn’t good either, because the rent is still due at the end of the month and their families need to be fed. The people you are seeing are most likely essential workers.
I been going to work just to cool off, still no power at home
Essential workers don’t really get time off and a lot of them have to work overtime to get the city cleaned up.
Eric, your message was amazing and inspiring! I am so pleased that you and your family are safe (and have a pool to keep cool)! Be well, man, be well!
Prepping goes a long way if it's done right!!! I feel for these people. I live in Dallas and got caught with my pants down during the ice / winter snap of 2021 ! Thought we weren't going to make it! NEVER AGAIN!!!! PREP, PREP, PREP, AND PREP SOME MORE!
Stayed in line yesterday 45/Rankin for 4.5 hours.
wow!
That’s why I filled my tank on Sunday.
It's refreshing to hear someone speak with such positivity in a bad situation. Praying for Texas from Florida! I know full well the stress & anxiety of hearing wind howling and debris being thrown against the house all night. 🙏🏾 🌀 🤯

That is how most Texans, Louisianians and people who live along the coast are. It just doesn’t make for exciting news to report.
@@HeatherRose2023 Many years ago, I lived in Texas for a temporary job assignment for two years. In my personal experience, I met a lot of really unpleasant, mean people. But I was in Austin - maybe it's just different there.

Austin is the state capital. It’s slogan beloved slogan is “Keep Austin Weird,” so yeah, it is not like the rest of the state.
@@HeatherRose2023 Gotcha
This is the fourth largest metropolitan in the United States. people are left to fend for themselves.. where are the cooling centers? where are the help from the local government? where have the tax money gone? what does Hildalgo have to say about all this? I know Whitmire was just elected. but open up some cooling center. Open up the arenas. The local government need to help Centerpoint with the tree trimming. This is only a category one hurricane. this is not the city‘s first rodeo. This government is pathetic. The response is like Third World country. People need to stop voting for ineffective leaders.
There fine right now
The sports arenas are being used for discharged hospital patients who can’t go home to no power!!
There are cooling centers open. Food and water are being distributed for free. You can Google the locations. On Monday July 8th we lost power in the apartment complex for about 6 hours. Hurricane Preparation: You have to prepare a Hurricane kit with water, non-perishable food, batteries, flashlight, portable radio, and first aid kit. Fuel up your vehicle and generator. Charge your power pack..How many transplants from California and New are here in Houston now? Why aren't more people prepared? Don't Mess With Texas!
@@robertjeffcoat441 In California we know all about go bags! With earthquakes and fire danger it’s always on our minds. No matter what part of the country we have to plan ahead.
Son and family live in Conroe Tx, right out of Houston. No power. They will get power July 14th that’s a maybe. They are heading out to our house in Austin. Praying for all those in Houston Texas🙏🏻 Take care,be safe and stay calm.
Prayers up for Houstonians! Prayers up for Texans!
Power outage is from a huge tree fall across counties in a major metroplex , power line crews are fighting battles hourly trying to extricate trees off homes and prepare safe service , politicians need to stop playing the blame game here .
That man said 1 and done 😂😂😂
Imagine if it was a Cat 4 or 5....
Filled up last Saturday. That's the #1 thing I've learned living near the Gulf Coast.
In 2020 after Hurricane Laura, all of our gas stations were basically destroyed. We had gas tanker trucks parking in shopping centers to give away generator gas. Power wasn't restored before 3 weeks. It was hell!! Feel for ya Texas.
Eric is a wonderful human being. May Jehovah bless him and his family.
Living in Victoria,TX we were preppin Saturday esp after gettin a hurrican warning around 3 pm. Were blessed to miss it but feel bad for Houston, I feel theyre always gettin bad weather😢
It's bad here in Brazoria, too. 🥺
You should start asking why is Houston and Texas in general such a huge failure when it comes to infrastructure and restoration after a hurricane. Centerpoint Energy failed in every possible way - they had DAYS to stage rescues and reparations, but instead they couldn't even get the outage map working. For a "energy capital" of Texas, this is absolutely pathetic. Imagine, if it were a Cat 5, and not a Cat 1.
@@Nichole-wd5ce Just like ERCOT Energy, they've had years and years to bring the power grid up too speed, but they haven't! Now up here (North Texas) they send out notices that the grid is not going to be able to meet demand, too much strain on the power grid! Possible rolling blackouts in our future ! Yet this company makes record profits continuously !!! HOLY SWEET JESUS YOU SHOULD SEE OUR ELECTRIC BILLS! 400, 500 + AND WE'RE CONSERVATIVE! I just don't get it! We need to produce our own oil, and manufacture our own Electrical components to maintain our power grid and infrastructure! No more relying on foreign companies for machines and parts!
So glad I'm 1000 miles away
Great interview. I have a Tesla and battery backed solar power. I can power my house, run the AC, fridge, lights, everything AND charge the car. No waiting in long lines after a hurricane for non-existent gas. Its all about being self sufficient and not relying on the government or your towns infrastructure. Take control of your own future!
Wait are you bragging?? Humble yourself bc you never know when the tables will turn... unbelievable
Failure of state government and local municipalities
Our tax dollars at.... where?
You would never see, Mr. Eric on mainstream news broadcast. Just too positive for them.
I live in Houston Texas. I been through plenty of hurricanes 🌀 it’s part of the norm. Get food fuel ⛽️ day before. If you’re looking for fuel (NOW) Houston outskirt backroads plenty of fuel. ⛽️
Chemtrails must be stopped. This is a crime against humanity!!
Yes and they sprayed so heavily beforehand! 😡
🛡️🕊️🙏Gotta Stay "ON GO".….
Try finding or even making small misting hose lines, put them in a shady spot with a wading pool of water, that could help.
That is crazy 😕
The least they can do is pay everybody’s electricity bill for this inconvenience .
They gotta give that money to the illegals first, no money left for tax payers.
go to 290 and Fry gas there always go to Walmart they ill have power and gas
Not much going on out this way and the power is STILL out. Makes you wonder.
@@tamhead1 someone took video of the trucks just sitting at the horse track I don’t know
Why would y'all sit in line and not drive to the suburbs? This is maniacal. And why wouldn't people fuel up cars beforehand? That IS in your control.
Well, Herbert W Armstrong said all this would happen no one paid attention.
That's horrible.
Everyone with a tesla begging for a gas car rn

We had power 🔋 for 48 hours had the power restored last night and then the. Power went off at 2 pm AGAIN smh
So all you outsiders who want to move to Houston here’s the prime reason you shouldn’t because this happens more than you think and this wasn’t even a bad one I live 45 miles north of Houston and we aren’t getting electricity for probably 2 weeks
mmm, the governor probably gonna blame all this chaos on immigrants 😅 asked federal government for more border reinforcement 😂
Non of that surprise me about Houston
Biden should give monetary assistance to all those Houstonians that were impacted by the hurricane, just like they love to give assistance to all the illegals. Americans First, not illegals.
Get out while you can
