All 4 of you are winners in this challenge !!! It is incredible to see how each one of you viewed the locations and captured such a variety of different super photos. Congratulations and thanks so much.
My wife and I enjoyed the challenge and think each of you came up with wonderful images under tough conditions. We thank each of you for taking us along. Here are our votes: Best images, Darren. Runner-up, Michael. Best video. Nigel. Best Comic Relief, Mads.
Now that was truly EPIC for sure, I now know exactly why you were so confident on our walk back... Fantastic shot(s) and also the explanations behind your thoughts... Bravo My Friend !!
“Primes Suck “ yes Mads I couldn’t agree more 🤣🤣🤣 So glad you had a great time in one of my favorite places ! Once again I love the compression shots of you and the amazing waves 👏👏👏👏👏
A brilliant video challenge with everyone. Certainly a very windy day. The image's of the waves were amazing and i found it hard to pick a favourite. I have watched Nigel's video and still got to watch the rest.
The first photo was the best for me. I have recently realised that I love crashing waves photos... haven't got any yet but yours are brilliant and just what I hope to get one day.
The 300mm 16x9 cropped shots were AMAZING! And, thank you for saying that Prime lenses suck for landscape photography. I know they say to zoom with your feet, but that doesn't work a lot when you're out in nature.
Nicely done sir! Putting yourself in the photo with the time available was definitely a great idea. Funny you mentioned getting your camera nicked, but you didn't mention the wind blowing it over! Well done. Glad I don't have to be a judge in this competition!
That big wave shot was my fave, amazingly, the shape of the curve in a wave is the golden spiral, same shape as any galaxy, same shape as the human ear, snail shell, sun flower, and some say there is no God.😊
Wow! Great video. It’s so great to see you four together! Loved the photos as well. Again wow my four favorite photographers in the world in one video.
Good fun these challenges and videos. I do like the sense of power of water in the waves. I love how you included yourself in the image. Nice work Mads. But the rainbow in the waves ones from the others had me! Hehehe.
This was really fun - you guys should do more like this. After watching all 4 of the videos I have to judge the challenge like this 1 = Mads 2 = Darren 3 = Michael 4 = Nigel although it was really close all round. The human interest and compression Mads added was the most unique and so it really stood out for me.
Hi Mads, loved watching this challenge, just as much as the Lake District challenge last year. Please make it an annual event. Great shots by all 4 of you. All the best Russ
🏆 A after watching all four videos back to pack my winning pick is Michael's wave shot with the orange spot, followed closely by here first breaking wave with you in it. Very nicely done. ✌️
You all did a fantastic job of capturing some truly magic images in trying conditions, and yes with putting yourself in the image it shows the true scale. Awsome ! Cheers from New Zealand
Really stunning work Mads. I liked the first version of the wave image as there was more of the rock visible and balanced nicely against you on the right hand side
Preferred the first image Mads, with the rocks on the left and you on the right it felt more balanced, impressive waves 👌👍 off to watch the other guys videos, love these challenges and seeing how different photographers go about them
I loved seeing this challenge. I would really like to see Nick Page in this group. It would be all in one because you are the photographers I follow most for my inspiration.
I agree, with a 24-280mm(equiv) on my camera, my 200-800 rarely leaves my bag. Unless I see some birds that is. I only bring along some primes if I am out at sunrise/sunset.
Great vid and awesome shot with you scaling the size of the wave crash.. I wouldnt worry about your camera getting stolen there, you're more likely to return to it to find kind folk looking after it and coat wrapped around it so it doesnt get damaged 😅
Dear Mats, Once again a big thank you for these recordings including wind and comments! The following question concerns me: How do you do it with the large photo backpack when traveling or on the plane? I'm worried that on my next trip I'll be restricted by the airline's luggage restrictions! Thank you very much for the practical tips!! Greetings Jürg
What a fun thing to do Mads.......I must try that with our Saturday morning sunrise group! My preference is the 200mm images with just that touch more foreground giving the image slightly more depth. (The first 2 images in particular). Thanks for such a fun and informative video 😂
Love these multiple photographer challenges. Mads, you did an outstanding job of being handed a crazy challenge yet still producing a classic, Mads Peter Iverson-style video that your followers love. IMHO, you're spot-on with the prime vs zoom debate. As for your two 400mm images; both great but I liked the second one a little more.
Amazing. The second photo at 400mm, but you're right - the 300mm are better. I visit this part of Ireland every year. Amazing scenery but yes - can be very challenging conditions for photography.
📸This is such a great concept. And I hope you guys do this more often. I tried to share this with Nick Page and Michael but they didn't take it at the time. I would watch are all four channels regardless of the photographer. 👍
Hello, I always watch your videos and I always wonder how you manage to appear in your photos, do you have a remote shutter release? ... greetings from Chile
Yes, I don’t want to be changing primes all the time in a windy place where I can get dust or water in my sensor if the scene is too dramatic. It’s just less convenient for landscape
Quite a bunch of excellent wavescapes, but ... any actual landscape? Hmmmmm, don't think so! 🤣 Anyway, great shots from all of the four! No winner, no loser 🙂
With a 200mm cropped in four, you can achieve the same frame. With the 200, you can shoot much more open to reach the same depth of feild. A 100mm cropped in four can frame what the 200mm do. Again with a much greater depth of feild. The 35mm can do the same of the 100mm. And the 14mm will frame the 35mm when cropped in 4. So the full spectrum can be done with 4 lenses. But then it is improving weight, depth of feild, aperture, iso, setup and cost considerably. Yet losing 3/4 of the sensor resolution is a little on the severe side, even though it would most likely still be 4k sufficient. Obviously the centering of the subject remain a good advice to maximize the image quality. But attention should be given to the choice of prime most prefered considering the images prefered. The idea of just buying the lenses mention is a bad idea. But a clever choice of prefered feild of view, a reasonable amount of tolerable resolution after crop chozen, will benefit the photographer on many regard over the use of zoom lenses. But then their is also the capacity to stitch picture and reduce further more the camera bag contant.
Nice, I use the Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 as fast prime and for low-light, hopefully Aurora Borealis if I ever get to that. I've paired it with the Tamron 28-200 on my Sony A7R4 and the focal lenght gap is compensated by megapixels or I can use the Canon 24mm tilt-shift with a converter. I do intend to buy a 400mm zoomlens and it will either be the Tamron 50-400 new (200 euro cheaper in Germany than in Netherlands) or a 2nd hand Sony 100-400. I do mostly landscapes but also like to shoot birds like the kingfisher in my local park so I can use the fastest auto-focus possible. Difficult decisions...
Interesting. I very recently changed my A6300 for an A6700 because the body stabilisation allows me to use a 70-300 manual zoom from an earlier Pentax LX (Analogue: they never made the promised digital back). That of course is about 400mm for an APS-C sensor. It is wonderful! Especially for black and white. The colour rendition is equally good. This would not be possible without modern processing software. Your videos are enjoyable. Nice presentation but I would prefer your self promotion to be at the end.
Hi. Landscape, my favorite genre of photography. I watched the videos of all the participants of this challenge and concluded that as an empirical experiment, it is interesting. I don't want to assume the role of referee, but even though you disqualified Michael, his photos impressed me more than others. By the way, I am a subscriber to three of the participants, except for Daren's channel.
I haven't finished watching this video yet, but given the fact Mads congratulated Nigel on his fancy video edit.... I gotta say wholeheartedly that I prefer Mads' comedy ❤ Mads' videos Oh my gosh your dramatic photo standing at the edge with the big wave in the background is just gorgeous. PS: don't leave your camera gear in the wild, the Pixies might take it 😅
Answer to your question: it's the first photo with you on the ridge. There's more of a balance between the waves and the rocks. The second is dynamic, but it doesn't show what those mighty waves are crashing against 😄
On your ebooks, any plans for a third one?? And any publisher out there...please offer Mads a deal for a hard copy version of his books. They are two of the better photography books out there.
Have to disagree about primes. Really you can get away with only using a 50mm for most landscape situations. If you need a wider vista, you can take several frames, stitch them together, and crop. Obviously for some points of interest you'll need a longer focal length, such as a 135mm or a 300mm, but even then you only need to take 2 lenses on a trip.
I don't necessarily "hate" primes myself ( because my Z 50mm is an incredible lens) but for things like landscape, I do like flexibility but also good image quality, so zooms generally are my choice (plus I don't want to have to carry around a bag of lenses and change lenses in the field if I can avoid it). And some modern zooms (actually many) are quite good, and while the primes may still have the edge since they are tweaked to a specific FL, modern day high-end zooms are not something to be ignored either. IF this was 10-15+ years ago, perhaps I would side more with primes over zooms, but that's not really the case much these days. Now, that being said, i will NOT buy long tele zooms simply because for the money, I hate being tied into a single FL (such as 400mm or 600mm) and would rather have a high-quality 100-400 for example, despite it probably not being razar sharp like a 400mm prime. I just like to balance versaitility, image quality and cost when buying lenses. The only two exceptions I feel for most people when it comes to primes might be a 50 and an 85, as it's hard to get those looks from any other lens (zooms). But with zooms, ones like my Z 24-120 is perfect for landscapes. It's perhaps not the sharpest (not as sharp as the 24-70's) but it's a heck of a lens, and could easily mean not having to carry 3-4 prime lenses in its place so my bag can be very light with just a single camera body, my 14-30 f/4 and the 24-120 f/4. In fact I just got back from the southwestern US on a landscape trip and shot exclusively with my 14-30 and 24-120 and after looking at the photos, I don't feel that I really missed anything (I had rented a 100-400 but only used it literally 5 times, and probably didn't need to in reality and never used my 24-70 honestly. Didn't bring any primes on that trip -- so no 50mm or 85mm partially because I don't feel those two lenses are practical for landscape as I'm going to be shooting at higher f-stops anyway, and my 24-70 and 24-120 can easily cover those focal lengths with good image quality at f/5.6-f/11.).
Beautiful images!! And, by the way, your 3 companions are not “way better photographers” than you. I think you all are pretty much on par with each other. All of you are great photographers!
After watching everyone's video.
All of you are winner's.
Brilliant.
Such a great final image Mads and a really nice video!
All 4 of you are winners in this challenge !!! It is incredible to see how each one of you viewed the locations and captured such a variety of different super photos. Congratulations and thanks so much.
The first one, is slightly better. Your's and Darren's are the only two I've seen so far, and your's is the best so far😁
Loved them all. Oh what fun these videos are.
Thank you for sharing your video Mads the photos you took of you with the big waves where epic. Glad you enjoyed your time in Ireland
🌟The first breaking Wave with you in it was the Best. 🌟
I love both shots but the 1st shot is amazing 👏 😍
“Primes Suck “ yes Mads I couldn’t agree more 🤣🤣🤣 So glad you had a great time in one of my favorite places ! Once again I love the compression shots of you and the amazing waves 👏👏👏👏👏
Mads! what an epic photo shoot! I love the first photo!
Mads is the first, Michael is the second, Nigel and Darren are the third. Well, we won - the audience. Thank you guys so much! Fantastic video!
Great shot mads finally you made the great photograph.I love that always you make the point of interest ,this one human 🎉
A brilliant video challenge with everyone.
Certainly a very windy day.
The image's of the waves were amazing and i found it hard to pick a favourite.
I have watched Nigel's video and still got to watch the rest.
Fabulous photos
You win. The portrait photo in front of that explosive wave is sooooo good.
Great. A fun video. What can I say? Disqualifying everyone, eliminating all competitors.....ruthless! But......effective!
What for a wonderful Video. Thank yuu for taking me. I like the 300 version best. Thank you, you are the best. Have a nice time from Germany.
The first photo was the best for me. I have recently realised that I love crashing waves photos... haven't got any yet but yours are brilliant and just what I hope to get one day.
Always fun watching these challenges. It's always interesting to see the outputs.
I like the first one of the three. The waves have a terrific shape.
I watched all four and my vote, hands down, goes easily to Mads for uniqueness, beauty and style. Ohh, and entertainment!! Good job y'all.
What a bunch of goofballs, I love it. We all need to see more camaraderie like this. Well done.
What an awesome bunch of guys and challenge. Thoroughly enjoyed this one Mads!
Everyone did great, but you definitely won with those huge waves ❤
The 300mm 16x9 cropped shots were AMAZING! And, thank you for saying that Prime lenses suck for landscape photography. I know they say to zoom with your feet, but that doesn't work a lot when you're out in nature.
Was that 400mm? or 380mm? ;) Great shot and great video
Your “hero” shot wins hands-down, Mads! I have told the others on their channels.
Loved this collab! Watched all 4 videos. Was introduced to a couple new photographers. Kudos all-around.
Nicely done sir! Putting yourself in the photo with the time available was definitely a great idea. Funny you mentioned getting your camera nicked, but you didn't mention the wind blowing it over! Well done. Glad I don't have to be a judge in this competition!
While Michael got some banger shots, in my humble opinion you had the best shot. Yours just had that sense of awe to it.
👍 Breathtaking
That big wave shot was my fave, amazingly, the shape of the curve in a wave is the golden spiral, same shape as any galaxy, same shape as the human ear, snail shell, sun flower, and some say there is no God.😊
All of you did an amazing job. I liked Michaels Turquoise video as #1.
Wow! Great video. It’s so great to see you four together! Loved the photos as well. Again wow my four favorite photographers in the world in one video.
epic shots! I agree with you about primes for these uses!
Epic humor! ... and instructional
Good fun these challenges and videos. I do like the sense of power of water in the waves. I love how you included yourself in the image. Nice work Mads. But the rainbow in the waves ones from the others had me! Hehehe.

Really stunning work Mads. I liked the first version of the wave image as there was more of the rock visible and balanced nicely against you on the right hand side
The first wave photo is the one I like the best, the rock gives some definition to the shot besides your silhouette.
That looked like great craic. The place looked amazing. 👍🏻
Preferred the first image Mads, with the rocks on the left and you on the right it felt more balanced, impressive waves 👌👍 off to watch the other guys videos, love these challenges and seeing how different photographers go about them
This crew definitely needed Gavin Hardcastle to add the final touch of chaos to the proceedings.
Dingle Mads, you could leave you’re camera there overnight and it’d still be there in the morning. 😂😂
I loved seeing this challenge.
I would really like to see Nick Page in this group.
It would be all in one because you are the photographers I follow most for my inspiration.
Wow wow! So epic 🔥 love how you just went for one thing and did it absolutely brilliantly ⭐️ bravo Mads
Your photo was my favorite but it was one composition Nigel had the best assortment of photos
Mads, you are one raving lunatic,🤣 fantastic shots though, fair dues. Great fun watching you work.
Terrific photos, but I’ve got to go with your standing in front of the wave shot as best.
8:01 Holy shit! That is EPIC! Version 1 is superb, for me it’s the wave shape being similar to the rock that wins it
I agree, with a 24-280mm(equiv) on my camera, my 200-800 rarely leaves my bag. Unless I see some birds that is. I only bring along some primes if I am out at sunrise/sunset.

😂
Dear Mats,

Thank you very much for the practical tips!!
Greetings Jürg
Wow! Epic waves!
Funny how we get used to different gear; my usual focal length is 500mm for bird photos, so 400mm doesn't seem very long.
Great video! Im learning a lot from you
❤ it's great 😊
You WIN!
I really like Nigel's photos but think you came in a close second because you squeezed the e-books promo in. 😂
What a fun thing to do Mads.......I must try that with our Saturday morning sunrise group! My preference is the 200mm images with just that touch more foreground giving the image slightly more depth. (The first 2 images in particular). Thanks for such a fun and informative video 😂
Came here from Darren’s Channel and I must say I really enjoyed your approach to this channel! Did you enjoy doing it in the end ?

How can you hate prime? 🤣 Seriously, great video! So interesting to see different approaches to this hobby / line of work.

You can get an edge in the competition if you steal Nigel's apples.
I haven't finished watching this video yet, but given the fact Mads congratulated Nigel on his fancy video edit.... I gotta say wholeheartedly that I prefer Mads' comedy
❤ Mads' videos
Oh my gosh your dramatic photo standing at the edge with the big wave in the background is just gorgeous.

10 seconds into the video - Nigel wins!
Why not use a quality 70-200 f2.8 with a x2 extender?
Its funny how you each take an intro 😂
The first photo because you look this is much huge wave looks more powerful
Answer to your question: it's the first photo with you on the ridge. There's more of a balance between the waves and the rocks. The second is dynamic, but it doesn't show what those mighty waves are crashing against 😄

The third version looks also fabulous! 10:35
Dear Mads ....
A little late today, eh? 👍🥂
Don't be a slave of your favorites.
Beautiful images!! And, by the way, your 3 companions are not “way better photographers” than you. I think you all are pretty much on par with each other. All of you are great photographers!
I HATE zoom !
