1950's Antique Mini Sewing Machine - Restoration

  • Here is a new video !!
It is a mini sewing machine produced by the french company "Pic-Bien" around 1950.
This antique toy sewing machine belonged to "Evelyne Martinez", her name was engraved below the base.
That would be insane if that little girl who is maybe now 70 or 80 years old could watch this video 😲. Also she would let me know how to sew properly ;)
It was in very bad shape, pretty much rusted, the handle was broken.
I also had to replace the switch and create a new label.
Please watch till the end to see this antique sewing machine in action !
By supporting the channel you help me make more of these video and find more amazing items.
I hope you'll enjoy this restoration.
Thanks a lot for watching !

Woahhh, I really like this video. Every detail and animation you've done is amazing. I really like that. And at the end of the video I was thinking, is this really an old thing from 72 years ago ⁉️
This looks like a new batch. Well done, my friend. the results are extraordinary 🤟🏻👍🏻🍻

Born in 1949, I had a very similar little hand-cranked sewing machine. It sewed in a chain stitch and started me trying to imitate my seamstress grand mother when I was around kindergarten age. At 72, I still sew and make costumes for my family, though on a Singer now. 😃

Evelyne Martinez is the name that was on the bottom of the sewing machine. I think the little girl's name s/b preserved in the same location, to memorialize her past ownership. Thank you for restoring such a wonderful item,

THIS is the difference between those myriads of sewing machine repurposing videos and an actual restoration. Getting the machine back to operating condition = an actual restoration. Cleaning the rust off and repainting it = a cute repurposed piece of home decor.
    Well done.

This was a very fun video to watch. My Aunt Evelyn passed away earlier this year. She had a 1950's regular sized sewing machine in the same color combo. Everyone is fighting over it, yet only one other person ever used it besides my aunt. This is so odd that you restored something like this and are showing it now. It made me smile and thing of her. Thank you.

@@TheFabrik Thank you. She was a truly great and caring person. She was a nurse her whole adult life. She took care of her husband, at home, when he was dying of cancer. She couldn't have children, but was the best aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She also had a wicked sense of humor, and a lead foot.

17:55 the thread should run between the tension discs.

Maybe a shower cap over the machine at 8:30 will keep some of that potentially hazardous dust in place.
Beautiful restoration! I would have loved one of these as a kid!

Great job ! There is probably a spring missing between the nut and the thread tension disks. Then the wire probably goes between the two disks from below in order to control thread tension.

Thanks a lot ! You’re right. The spread is missing

The thread is incorrectly started. It is necessary through the tensioner. And so a great restoration!!!
