Great vid. For me, what sets you apart from the mass of teachers out there is that you have broken down the subjects into bite size pieces that are immediately useful. There's no pretentious, lofty shout down to anyone. Your lessons just flow from you to whoever is listening in an instructive - "Here's how you do it and why you do it" kind of way. Even if a chef isn't hungry, they can still make a dish. Really? You're gonna drop a banger of a line like that all casually? Piss off mate, and I love you.
Dude, that was one beautiful motif in C major. It's stuck in my head.
Also, your videos have helped me a lot this past year. Thank you!
Yes Jake! I’ve been looking forward to another video I’ll sink my teeth into this when I get home 👍🏻
I took music theory in college, the instructors were very disconnected with the students and could not relate to us in any way, shape or form. Everything that Jake explains is very well though out and relates everything idea in multiple ways. I am so glad I am subscribed to this channel, thanks Jake!!!
Can you PLEASE make a video about how to compose music like Score Ennio Morricone and Hans Zimmer?
9:58 that also sounds really similar to Love of My Life, by Queen
"Hi, I'm gonna take this song about contemplating suicide and make it happy." I don't know how to feel about this.
He basically turned it into Float On 😝
He turned it into a Twenty One Pilots song.
I love the general humour and editing! You Rock!
Beard Stank kissing his knuckles 😂😂😂
I just found you today and I am 4 videos deep at this point. Wow! Thank you. You're clear and plain. You have great versatility and explain things in a way that people who play music can understand. Thank you Jake. I can't wait to binge watch all this stuff and come back when I need inspiration and something fresh to pick on. ❤❤❤
You're amazing , and I'm glad that you're taking you time to share your knowledge with us, you break everything down and make it amazingly easy to follow, I've been playing music for almost 20 years , I've had music teachers, I've been in countless bands but music theory has always been weird for me , but you're single handedly changing that, so thank you.
Man, you are an awesome teacher! you really make me want to become a better student!
That's an incredible compliment, thank you!
Awesome tutorial!! Love the model on the right explaining the chords & melody relationships. Ie minor 2nd etc 🔥👏🏽👏🏽
Bach Prelude in C minor also has that Pattern you mention at 10:00
No ruler in your hand to slap the student the second they don't get something - like my old piano teacher used to do. No wonder so many folks share your site with others.....you really do a fantastic job :).....PS......With your voice, you could be in radio or voice-overs too......
You are a true legend mate, a million subscribers are coming your way very soon!! Thank you for all your great lessons!!! 🍻🍻
Such a useful video.
You always post the exact video I didn't know I needed!! Your content just continues to improve
Midway through the video and I thought "well, he finally made a kinda boring lesson". By the end I had my mind blown. Great stuff as always on this channel!
This is awesome. I keep telling people about this channel. Now I can tell people about this.
You’re a great teacher, I love how you keep it simple and don’t get carried away. It’s very easy to understand and follow what your saying. Thank you
I was going to like this video at the end of watching it anyways, but when the poptart bit came on I had to pause and like that moment. Great video I love your teachings! :)
1:05 lol I thaught that was Back to the future
You are my new fav music educator on RUclips! Your have amazing vocal deliver that doesn't even feel like a script, sufficient chops to demonstrate on your instrument, down to earth attitude, an a surprisingly deep sense of humor and real organic musical examples than bring clarity like nothing else imo.
Sorry for gushing but that Bb+ at 13:28 really did something to me. I'm like, musically supercharged for the first time in years. Thanks so much for all you do!
Dude that pop tart bit just murdered me X'D
This is really helpful to me- I just recently realized that my actual songwriting skills as a producer isn't really that good, so this video is gold! Love that random baking interlude 😂
That's pretty amazing dude! 😎🎸🤟
9:25 papa roach - last resort lol
liked already, I know its gonna be good
Hell yeah! Love your lessons man.
Can you do one for vocal melodies?
As a new song writer, this is gold. Learned so much. For me I'm getting the ideas and melodies easily just needed the chords info you shared to help me expand from boring to glorious. Thanks
Jake, I both love you and hate you! So much of what you share is SIMPLE and effective and I can put it to use immediately, and there's a part of me that often feels completely ignorant and I'm left asking myself why I couldn't figure something that simple out by myself. Thank you for all you share. I am super grateful for you and your course (about 1/2 way through).
10:18 same concept in 'Mad about you' guitar intro by Hooverphonic
Welcome to my liked videos.I’m definitely going to come back to this many times.Awesome video, thanks.
I bought ur modal poster! Love it!
Bravo sir, very interesting. Started writing songs from your other vids using, Maj7, m7 and m7b5 but this is yet another way to write. Thank you very much!
bVI Chord sounds awesome
The ostinato is very similar to Love Of My Life by Queen
Can't wait for more Bake with Jake. My toasting skills have already improved.
He should get together with Jim Breuer and do “Half Baked with Jake…”
Fantastic. You've simplified the process for me... as a complete beginner.
Hey Jake, thanks for the awesome lesson even though I still can't grasp the whole concept and some parts of it.
Also your modal poster is awesome, but I still waiting to be able to buy the digital version to be printed my self. I live in the opposite part of the world from yours and shipping is hella expensive.
You have the ability to inspire with simple motifs, you advanced my playing by five years with this simplicity, it doesnt always have to be hard once broken down like youve done here. Awesome , and well done
Best guitar RUclips channel. The quality and relevance of these videos are beyond amazing- it’s nice to see somebody who genuinely thrills some people and shows them the point in learning theory
I like how you mention Iron Maiden when playing the harmony riff and then take Last Resort as an example later. That riff is an exact copy of Maiden's Infinite Dreams.
Wow, great channel, direct, well explained, no memes, proposed exercises. Amazing.
That Papa Roach riff reminds me of Bach Prelude and Fugue in C minor, except Bach goes completely nuts with it.
I'm still looping 11:21. Very beautiful and nostalgic. I think I have an onion in my face 😿
Dude.. that was simply Awesome !! this is a great concept to take.. omg.. Anywhere.. counter point etc.. loved it.. very inspiring.
Jake, thanks for reminding many of us why we’re on this journey in the first place,... to make our own music. I feel so much more holistically educated watching your videos than when I simply follow cookie cutter steps from how to play song x instructional videos that fail to identify the dna 🧬 of the song, ... can’t see the forest 🌲 thru the trees 🌳
I couldn’t help but feel like I was watching PBS’ Bob Ross create an oil painting, that seemed complete, go and add a lot to it to make it great. Well done my friend 👍🏻
Songwriting is by no means easy for me, and for others it may be different. Highly appreciate the content and valuable information as always!
FAVORITE LESSON OF EXAMPLES 💕❤️
Thanks for Sharing 😊👍
You have all the elements of a true content creator. Talent, creativity, knowledge, communication, editing, sound, engaging, entertaining.... you're the best!!
One of your best lessons yet 👊
thank you, i really enjoyed making this one!
OMG! NETFLIX baking motif... 😂🤣🤣
This guy changed my perspective about composition..thank you
Nice video and music too. I start with two notes)
you're amazing
Never seen music information like this! Im really glad I`ve met your channel. Awesome content : )
Nice thank you
