Hi Marg and Derek, I agree with everything you have said on this video. We have been holidaying in Bali for 24 years and noticed a huge improvement as to what it used to be like. Not as many open drains etc. I take my own retractable straw, lol I'd rather dodge bumpy pavers than step on chewing gum, lol Sanur is great, as is all of Bali. Some people will never be happy wherever they are. Enjoy life. It's too short.
Sanur is our favourite place to go, very relaxed and clean, we have seen locals in the outer areas of Bali burning their rubbish on the side of the road and throwing bags of rubbish in the river, but not in Sanur
Thank you for this clarification about my beloved Sanur, which I have first visited many times since 1978. Whatever is ‘lacking’ in Sanur is made up with the incredible warmth of the people. I can’t wait to return after a knee replacement operation in a couple of months. No, not worried about the footpaths!
You will need to pay extra on your travel insurance or you won't be covered for broken bones. I fell in Poppies Lane and ended up having a shoulder operation here in Australia. My wife has osteoporosis and had to pay extra in case she falls on uneven paths.
Hi Marg and Derek. Great video on Sanur. We've been going to Sanur for many many years and some of what has been said is true but you are correct in what you say. It's not like walking around the streets of say Subiaco.....it is still a developing country for the most part and yes you will find some rubbish around and yes some of the footpaths along Tamblingan aren't perfect, but hey, most people like the rawness of the place like we do. Thanks Marg and Derek
Living in Bali has good and bad sides and if you are moving there, you need to know both not just the good. When you love a place as much as you do, you will always try and cover up the bad. I am staying on the Bypass near Naughty Nuri and lots of reviews say the footpaths are bad near my hotel.
I'm subbed to most of the RUclipsrs in Sanur and love their content, if anyone's a bully I don't really care as long as their vids are good, as everyone's truth is different
I like watching you two, but I am very disappointed in you two for feeling the need to make this video, as if they weren't attacked enough before they left Bali. Endless people talk about the garbage problem, the bad foothpaths and the burning off in many posts. To be fair they didnt live on the main street and unlike holiday makers, they actually lived there. After taking a 23 year lease on a villa, they felt chased out by some ex pats attitudes. Not a good look for you.
@@steveth1000 just Sanur from our perspective. We were definitely not attacking anyone! Also…we made no mention of ex pats, bullying etc. everyone has their own opinion of Sanur & that’s great
Sorry but it’s colonial whinging at its finest. Complaining about a developing country not being as clean as they’d like was just gross and entitled, and deserves to be called out
Nice work. Footpaths can be quite hairy outside Central Sanur though - esp on the Bypass! We all know reasons 1-3 were some backwards looking justifications for the real reason. If they weren't embraced or welcomed into the ex pat community as much as they expected or wanted, fair enough to leave, but it's petulant to be nasty about Sanur and to label people as 'jealous' and 'bullies' just because they don't want to be bffs with you. Hair is great Marg!
I saw that video and to be honest, it felt rather icky. Reasons 1 and 2 seemed to be put in to balance reason 3. If 1&2 were honest reasons, why the long term lease signing? 3 was later heavily edited after outing Bergs as bullies. It all feels rather childish and tit for tat, and when you appear to make up stuff and edit stuff, it’s hard to know what’s real and what’s not
Sanur, bali ,Indonesia, has a big problem with garbag, tourists tax is a money grabbing exercise by the government, locals were burning of ther rubbish all aroun my motel, on the sanur beach walk, as my garuda plain was landing small fires everywhere, streets and side walks are terrible, and obviously a certain aus expat has a real problem. You handled this poorly, but the roaming one put you in your place.
@@jasonpayne9698 hmmm I’ve never seen a motel in Sanur. Interesting spelling too! 😂 Yes there is a garbage problem, some paths are bad, but lots of people still love it anyway! If you don’t - that’s fine. Don’t go there!!
@@VickiAngrave thanks for your support Vicki. we were just sticking up for Sanur. Not having a go at anyone in particular but it seems some have taken our video the wrong way!

Lots of bullies ex pats in Sanur, apparently not so much in other parts of Bali.
