Even if The Sacklers didn’t get their true comeuppance, I’ll forever be thankful for Last Week Tonight for putting a spotlight on the Opioid Crisis and on that horrible family.
There is actually still hope now because the supreme court (I know, I am as surprised they actually did something good for once as everyone else) just recently ruled that it is illegal to wave all future possible litigation. Which means their deal is void and they can still be sued for more damages than what they paid in their first deal.
Good thing we solved all these problems since 2016, John. Thanks for the reminder, John.

My grandma has chronic pain and takes an opioid and right out the gate her doctor gave her that nasal spray. And she also she gave me her bottle so she wouldn’t take too many a day.

I think for many the problem is less the notifications (like you say, they can be turned off), but more how subscription feeds get clogged up with 30 odd videos at once (when a playlist would suffice)
I think people need to learn to cope.
@@philipreid2542 you can still scroll past it. If on a phone, simply flick your finger really fast, and stop when you stop seeing JO's blurred face as the thumbnail. Done. Takes 5 seconds on a phone. If on a computer, then you can scroll past as well, but you may need to adjust how many lines each scroll tick is if you want to get past them all in 5 seconds. Either way, it's still a matter of seconds to scroll past the episodes, and once you've caught up to the point that they started these uploads, you don't have to scroll past them at all anymore, so it's really a pathetic thing to complain about.
To those complaining "my feeds, my precious feeds" stop whining.
It's one batch of 30ish videos surrounded by hundreds of others.
I pretty much only use the home page or go to channels I'm in the mood for, so I popped into 'subscriptions' to see what people were whining about.... it's nothing. The 'Shorts' section that you can't opt out of takes almost as much room since they're vertically framed.
Maybe if you're only subbed to 2 or 3 channels or something it'd bury them... but not deeply, it's only 30 videos.
LWT is being awesome by uploading these all at once giving us stuff to watch while they're off for the holiday, they even put them in a playlist. Thank you for doing that LWT, you're awesome.
Now if only you could make it so these 8 year old videos weren't so relevant to today...
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they're masking their real annoyance at the fact that they were paying customers and don't like us freeloaders getting all the goods now lol. I could sympathize with that. Otherwise I think it might be an OCD thing?

Trump's been talking about ninth-month and post-birth abortion since 2016. And nobody ever calls him on it.
He was referring to a real quote from the former governor of Virginia, I believe.
He said sometimes a mother gets to decide if they resuscitate a born alive baby with congenital defects.
The implication being if she choses ‘no’, they let the baby suffocate on the table.
I wish he would do an update on opiates in how the crackdown has left millions without pain relief and how illicit fentanyl continues to kill tens of thousands every year.
For real. It was never the chronic pain patients abusing the drugs.
To make matters worse, the replacement medications can cause horrible lifelong conditions these already sick individuals now have to deal with on top of their pain, from monoclonal antibodies triggering autoimmune diseases to NSAIDs causing kidney failure to marijuana triggering schizophrenia.
Sure, it doesn't happen to everyone, but would you rather play Russian roulette with the chances on yourself or your loved one vs managing taking an opioid responsibly?
Less than 1 percent can still be alot if it's for everyone who ever feels pain

I don't think either of them will help it much, but if you look at policy proposals on their websites, Biden's policy plans will do better than Trump for reducing drug related deaths.

I’m a struggling Uber driver, and my colleagues all are extremely dissatisfied with Uber as an employer. They take significantly more than the fare than they say they do, and are stealing OUR money. The pay and work is getting consistently worse over time, and all of us are quitting and looking for work elsewhere. I personally am becoming a Police officer for my local jurisdiction, and maybe in a few years, become a private investigator.
I think the dark truths you’ll find behind the facades of rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft will give you tons of ammunition for content, and you’d be doing good work exposing those modern Enrons for who they really are.

We swung the pendulum too far in the opposite direction. Theres far too many reserictions on prescribing opioids now. Street drugs kill just as many people, while patients suffer because providers' hands are tied by clinic policy to not prescribe opioids.

Reminiscing over these 8-year-old episodes, I like how the "And Now..." rubric often had as its theme "How is THIS still a thing?..." It took more thought to produce those pieces than pasting together clips of some news anchor repeating the same phrase over and over.
Just a suggestion, but you should reverse the order on the videos in your playlists so you can watch the episodes in order.
Why are all of the episodes being released online now?
It's the full episode. HBO just puts the main story on RUclips of the new shows. I like to go back and watch them.

They will keep posting until two seasons ago
iirc LWT owns the rights to their older seasons now so they can upload the full episodes without HBO’s permission or control, which is why they only uploaded main stories up until now b/c HBO didn’t allow them to put the full episodes out
edit: iirc LWT also said they’d continue uploading old episodes during breaks in filming the newer seasons

No one's going to see this comment, but I think whoever runs the LastWeekTonight youtube channel should put these LWT library videos on an alternate channel, maybe call it Last Week Tonight Library. Dumping these videos here makes it marginally harder to find videos from the current season. Not a big deal, but it would be easier for everyone to find what they're looking for.

They're in a playlist at upload, it's in reverse order but there are apps for that.
