- As we continue our look back at the 1966-67 television season, Gillilgan's Island was on the home stretch of its three year run on the CBS Television Primetime schedule in late winter, 1967.
This video clip is part 3 of our 5 part look back at one of the last Gilligan's Island reunions, on the Late Late Show on May 17, 1988.
Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson join the discussion... Jim Backus and Natalie Schaffer joining the sit down discussion shortly.
This video clip is presented here on RUclips for the entertainment and informational value of the viewer, and no copyright infringement is intended.
Enjoy!
Notice how Tina just sat there while everyone else stood up to greet them.
Tina's obsternation with skipping the TV reunion films 10 yrs earlier must of been the motivator and inspiration for 'Brady Bunch' actress Eve Plumb for skipping the late 1970s' Brady Bunch Variety shows. Imagine Eve Plumb and Tina Louise meeting for lunch at Spago's & agreeing to not appeaer in reunion films /shows.
@@gjmaztr7 The Gilligan's Island movies were after "The Brady Bunch Variety Show". Eve passed on that before Tina passed on the Gilligan movies.
Mary Ann looks so great. She's definitely one of the most beautiful women on the planet.
The decades long debate is officially settled. It's Mary Ann for the win!
Kudos to The Rest
And now she is gone and there is only one, Ginger.
Dawn Wells was still a cute little thing.
Truth is- Bob Denver went to the execs & told them to put his name at the end of the opening credits, or give professor & Mary Ann their due with the others. Not sure why they didn't mention it here
Tina Louise had it in her contract that she would be given final credits (no other actors/characters credits would appear after hers), She did this because she felt slighted as she believed the show was to be about her character. Why she believed it when she knew the name of the show was Gilligan's Island is beyond me.
"Once the show was renewed for a second season, champion-for-the-underdog Bob Denver approached the producers and asked that Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells be added to the opening credits, stating that their characters were just as vital to the dynamic as any of the others. When the producers mentioned the clause in Louise’s contract, Denver countered by referring to a clause in his own contract which stated that he could have his name placed anywhere in the credits he liked. He threatened to have his name moved to last place, so an agreement was hammered out with Louise, a revised theme song was recorded, and Johnson and Wells took their rightful place in the opening montage."
@@rivertam0713 I had heard it was Bob Denver's doing, but did not know the details. Thank you.
I have a feeling that if the show was titled "Ginger's Island", that Tina would have bitched about that as well!
@@THE-HammerMan LOL...she probably would have. She had a reputation as a bit of a dive to put it mildly.
I am sure that no one has ever said a single bad thing about Bob Denver; Alan Hale Jr.; Jim Backus; Natalie Schaffer; Russell Johnson or Dawn Wells.
As for Tina Louise...
Mary Anns name on the show was Mary Ann Summers!! (or Sommers!)
Is there a better quality version of this????
Ginger or MaryAnn? I said, "MaryAnn". My friend said, "Both!" I agree.
Mary Ann or Ginger? Answer: Mary Ann!
