    I definitely agree with you that #1 is Once Bitten. After approximately 33 years ago when I first got into Great White, when I bought the Once Bitten cd, I realize “Never Change Heart” really is my favorite all -time song, despite so many more popular songs. I love that you played it. I’m pretty surprised you have Shot in the Dark #2, but I actually have it close at #4. The title track is my favorite song of that album, and I would easily put it in my top 10 all-time Great White songs. Speaking of surprises, I’m surprised you failed to talk about the title track Psycho City, which is an interesting a good song to discuss. The tape recording of that psycho literally, is a real recording and his words get stuck in my head. “Listen! You guys got a problem. I do this to every mafia operation I ever met…” I’m just going by memory, but I think I got his words right. I could go on, but I’ll leave it right there. Anyway, the song is solid imo. I would put the album at #3 behind Twice Shy. Really my 2,3, and 4 can be interchanged, depending on my mood. And you love “Love is a Lie” which is a great ballad, but I think “Save All Your Love” & “Angel Song” are better imo. Getting back to the album Psycho City, “Step On You” is a masterpiece. The lyrics are great, and the soulful hard edge of Jack Russell’s vocals along with the sharp guitar riffs, are amazing. Great White is such an awesome underrated band, and the Once Bitten album is one of the greatest albums put out in the 80’s. It’s like you said, all the songs are good on that album. Most are really good, like “Rock Me”, “Lady Red Light”, Never Change Heart”, “Save All Your Love”, “Fast Road”, and “All Over Now.” I felt like I lived this album in the late 80’s to very early 90’s.

      thanks a lot for your detailed opinion. Definitely an under-rated band but they have a few more great records besides the ones you mentioned. How do you like those?

    Great to see you review Great White, a band that doesn't get much love. My very first CD was GWs Once Bitten. If you want to hear more GW Zeppelin covers check out Recovery Live. Wish Jack Russell and the players could have stayed together but this seems to be the trend with 2 versions of each band releasing albums and touring. Mark Kendall has a great guitar tone. Awesome seeing someone from Europe and your generation getting into this under-rated band.👍

    Twice Shy may have been their most commercially successful album, but it still has great tracks. "Heart the Hunter," "Hiway Nights," "Mista Bone," "Baby's on Fire," and "House of Broken Love" are all great. Psycho City is absolutely fantastic, Shot in the Dark is an underrated gem, and Once Bitten is also a classic.

    One of the most underrated American bands. I loved them straight away from their debut until the Tribute to Led Zeppelin in 1999... after that, in my opinion, they lost their inspiration. Still great band....from a fan from Italy

    • @rjakobej
      @rjakobej  Год назад

      Yeah, after '99 they kinda lost it. Rising was still quite solid but not even close to their classics. Still, they should have been as big (if not bigger) as Bon Jovi and Aeromsith.

    Capitol records is why Psycho City didn’t sell well. Also why Hooked had less success. Jack explains that in his new book.
    Grunge did not totally take over until around 1995. Where I live we didn’t have a clue about grunge in 1992. Radio stations was still playing all the 80s bands & new early 90s bands like Jackyl , black crows , damn Yankees.
    Psycho City should’ve had 4 top 40 hits. Fantastic album.

    I just invested 30 minutes of my time looking at both of these review videos on GW. WOW. This is how you put together a best to worst list! You provided samples from the albums, and you gave me very specific songs with your specific evaluations of them.
    I'm not a professional musician, but I've been a rock and roller since 1964. I've did a radio show that was rnr based for about 5 yrs back in 85-90. I feel like I've learned something from your insights.
    Now, I don't agree with your rankings (Primarily b/c you have their debut album at #8. To me, this is one of the greatest metal albums of all-time.), but that is a secondary consideration. I now I feel I know what I would be getting on each of these albums if I pursued them.
    What's unappreciated about GW is the precision that they played metal and heavier stuff. It wasn't thrashing. Marc Kendall is a criminally underrated guitarist and Lorne Black had awesome chemistry with him on the 1st 3 albums. Your review also gave me a greater appreciation of the range and versatility of the band.
    BTW, 30 Days in the Hole was originally done by Humble Pie in the early 70's. Mr. Big did the cover themselves. Check out the original here....ruclips.net/video/cLTZavs4WAo/видео.html.
    GREAT job again. I may even subscribe to your channel.

      Thanks a lot! This was the overall 6th. worst to best video but the first one where I experimented with the audio samples. Now I use them everywhere, so there may be more videos you'll find interesting (Whitesnake, Iron Maiden... Kiss is the newest one). GW is one of my favorite bands, they should be getting more appreciation. :-)

      @@rjakobej I just like the sound. From Call it to Heartbreaker is a no skip. Desert Moon might be my favorite GW song. Cold Hearted Lovin. One of Russell’s best vocal albums. As far as the CGFH record goes the drum sound is not the greatest and they are on a mid tempo soft rock kick like Sister Mary, Silent Night, Freedom Song, Ain’t No Shame to name a few.

      Lenny Wolf still has lots of his own personality. Funny how criticized and hated their debut album was for "copying" Led Zeppelin and now Greta Van Fleet is so popular. On their first EP the singer not only sounds exactly like Robert Plant, they even stole one riff from LZ. And it's ok for people. Strange.
