"Epcot is the broccoli of theme parks."
Fitting, considering I adore broccoli and I adore Epcot. So much so that I spent my entire eighteenth birthday in that park.
I also agree that broccoli is really good covered in cheese. I’ve had it for Thanksgiving and it is delicious.
My absolute favorite joke in this video is when you push your Uncle Paul off the balcony, and then later Kyle jumps out the window, happens to catch up to your uncle in mid-freefall and they both casually say 'Hi' to one another before falling again. Cracks me up every time! XD
Thanks! That's one of my favorites too.
I honestly think they could re-open wonders of life or at least cranium command with an Inside Out theme.
Fun Fact: The main inspiration for Inside Out was Cranium Command. That'd be neat to have that replace it.
+Jacob Hill It could of gone full circle
In the place of Wonders of life they could do a full Inside out pavillion in the same place!!!
Sadly that won't happen. I keep hearing that they are planning to bulldoze WoF and Ellen's Energy Adventure and open a brand new ride in its place--possibly with a Guardians of the Galaxy theme.
Albert Calis ...Welp. You were half-right.
In the France pavillion they could open the Ratatouille attraction from Disneyland paris and in Marrocos they could build a Aladdin attraction!!
Funny story on a recent trip to disney world, my brother (who does NOT do well on spinny rides) wanted to go on mission space but because I very specifically remembered the mission space bit in this video (and a part in kingdom keepers 3) and in particular I remembered the vomit shot and could just see my brother puking I had to actually convince him (despite me being the Disney expert in my family) not to go on the ride because he'd get sick.
Aww! You're a good sibling! Did you convince him?
Kyle Morello yup!
@@disneydork100 good. My Mom's the same when it comes to this ride.
My younger siblings have another, smaller problem with this ride: they can't stand the fact that Luitanent Dan's got replaced by a chick they don't know. I didn't know she was from Firefly. I think the next time we talk about it, I'll let them know that she's from a cult TV show everyone wishes didn't get cancelled. I don't that'll work though.
disneydork100 same
This video makes a really good "prologue" for all the stuff that's coming to EPCOT. Re-watching this has made me realize just how dead the park has been between GFT-Frozen. GotG, Ratatouille, the Mary Poppins and Inside Out rumors are all exciting stuff that's actually coming to EPCOT, which seemed like a pipe dream when this video came out.
Glad somebody's excited for all these renovations.
And MP got delayed indefinitely (thank you Covid)
It kills me inside knowing what happened to Journey Into Imagination. It used to have timeless themes, fun effects and lovable characters. Now Disney turned Figment into a jerk, Dreamfinder was evicted and it feels somehow more dated with its effects and references.
The new Frozen Ever After ride in the Norway pavilion should help draw in a lot of people
Enough to make the line consistently 12 hours long. Take that Peter Pan's flight!
No matter how terrible it is.
As a proud Norwegian-American, I am offended.
Hickory Mccay here's an idea: why don't we build a Viking armada, sail to Florida and burn the frozen ride to the ground just like the good old days!
Scrambled 59 I live in Oregon, but okay!
you know it's times like this I kind of wish Epcot would open a museum to showcase their old exhibits, mostly for nostalgia sake
That would be awesome!
yeah then kids would experience the best exhibits and they would learn that Figment wasn't always and annoying piece of s*it
iHeartRyanStiles Agreed
Imagine a version of that Kinect Disneyland game that actually replicated the rides and let you go through different time periods and parks. It'd probably be a nightmare to research and model everything, but it'd be a wonderful resource for generations to come.
RhythmGameAddict if they watched this video they may not have to do much
You know EPCOT could use a Big Hero 6 ride if they can think of it.
I always said this. Hell, it could be a thrill ride like Spiderman in Universal, and it would work. The technology in that movie isn't pure future or fantasy, but a way that its something that we COULD see, WHILE keeping it in a touch of fantasy.
YES! It would make the perfect replacement for Innoventions West!
Alex Hartsell f
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Japan or America?
I sadly didn't grew up with the original Journey (or barely remember when I went to Epcot over a decade ago when I was very little) ,but I still call Dave Golez!Figment "FINO" to cope with his annoyance.
SpookyRoseV Man, it’s no wonder the Internet being relied on as a nostalgia soapbox has easily led to some generational jealousy!
The only thing I loved about Epcot was the world showcase because it has pretty decent restaurants which suited pretty much anyone's preferred cuisine. Plus is a great place for parents to sample various wines while the kids are in the Magic Kingdom xD
I still wish Disney considered giving this park more love. I don't know, maybe another country in the World Showcase, the history of Disney animation in Future World, something!
I think this Disney park whose canvas isn't full.
They just got to refurb this year lol relax dude they got other stuff to do at Animal kingdom and Hollywood studios first
+Brandon Bombei two *
t
Your wish is, apparently, granted, if we can believe what they said late last year.
They seem to have been adding and replacing stuff at the future world section of the park, but thanks to COVID-19 all of the construction and refurbishment has been either put on hold or is moving at a snails pace.
With all the new renovations and refurbishments coming soon to Epcot for its 40th anniversary in 2022, the work walls will make a prominent comeback for the next couple of years.
I like how tony's using classic rock songs in his reviews
If they want to keep the educational objective while still exploring new possibilities, they should make "The Eurovision Experience"; a Hard Rock Café style experience showcasing the past and the present of the Eurovsion Song Contest while eating apt foods from the country that won that year.
I rode Mission: Space so many times I kind of got board of it, often three of four times in a row. I think I rode more than any other ride short of the steam trains.
Are you ok after that?
Now, there’s not just the new Test Track and the new Frozen ride, they have done the following things.
1. They renovated Mission Space to have a seperate green mission, as well as opening a Space themed Restaurant next to it called Space 220.
2. They announced that they are revamping Future World to make it more modernized.
3. They replaced some of the travelogues and made an exhibit in China highlighting Shanghai Disneyland
4. They made the Odyssey Restaurant a preview center for new additions they are gonna add.
5. They ended Illuminations and replaced it with a fireworks show called Epcot Forever, which is later going to be replaced with a fireworks shoe called Harmonious
6. They closed Universe of Energy to make way for a Guardians of the Galaxy themed roller coaster
7. They’re revamping the Wonders of Life pavilion and calling it the Play Pavillion
8. They’re demolishing innoventions west to make room for more greenery and restaurants
9. They are bringing Disneyland Paris’s Ratatoulie Ride to the France Pavillion
10. They are about to renovate Spaceship Earth as the sponsorship with Siemens expired a few years ago.
Only 7 and 10 (and kinda 8) didn't end up happening due to the two cancerous C's of the 2020s, Covid and Chapek.
When my brother & I were young we loved EPCOT because of all the cool animatronics in rides like Horizons, The World of Motion, Spaceship Earth & Journey into Imagination. Even Kitche Cabaret in The Land pavilion had it's corny little charm. The Sherman Brothers songs were all catchy; the atmosphere in all the dark rides w/the uncanny valley animatronics; it was weird, but entertaining. Not thrilling, but entertaining for us at that age. It's really sad to think so much of it has changed. But hey, at least they're updating a lot of it w/thrill rides & characters from all the latest Disney IP's. Maybe a little too much so.
Seems like the park is doing well for itself now. We've got Ratatouille as a ride coming into Paris Pavilion, the Festival of the Arts that allows for creative dishes and art to be sold/created in front of your eyes, the Skyliner will be stopping at the park for extra trafficking towards the park, Guardians are gonna be coming in (albeit feeling forced), and Disney's currently in talks with Brazil to get a new Pavilion added to the list of countries. All in all, not too bad! Hope it keeps the park alive!
Spaz: You went to Disney World without me?
Try getting though an episode without me. (Spoilers he does.)
I enjoy your vids and your views on Disney parks (since I've enjoyed Disney since apparently day one). I would like to hear you do a thing on Toon Town (which really does need work, but was once a magical place to visit).
Maybe someday. It's an interesting subject.
Agreed, it's gone through so many changes since it opened, and it may be one of the next places to be changed with all the revamps Disney's doing.
When they announced Star Wars land, I leaped to the conclusion that it'd be replacing Toontown. I was happy to be proven wrong.
Yeah, it was hard to determine which place it would be going. Thank god we still get Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin (great ride to go on every visit). But I do feel it's heading down a tear down do to lack of any other attractions and shutting down/removing aspects of some attractions (goofies bounce house and the ball pit at chip and dales tree house, which is understandable why).
thank you for all the nostalgia, we are the same age so i just feel like i get all ur jokes and i grew up in the disney parks too.
Where have Wonders Of Life gone? Now it's Nothing But Flowers. (Sung to the tune of "(Nothing But) Flowers" by Talking Heads)
15th anniversary of the Wonders of Life closure starting 20 minutes ago
What was Disneys obsession with Honey I shrunk the kids? Seriously like 3 attractions across 2 parks
Well, it WAS a huge hit for the studio at a time when they desperately needed one.
I wonder if they're planning on restoring the original Journey into Imagination, or at least changing it to resemble it more. I mean, why else would they create a comic book line for a ride that hasn't existed in that form for nearly twenty years?
Actually, given the coherent narrative that all three versions of the ride strangely have when put together, the next version would probably still be the same set up as the current but with the Dreamfinder inserted back in.
13:05
Well, now, it's either Soarin' OR the new Test Track, depending on the time of day.
UPDATE: Now it's either one of the two OR Frozen Ever After.
And soon it’ll be that Guardian of the galaxy attraction
@@dereknight861Now it’s either that OR Ratatouille!
Ellen's Energy Adventure? Hey I remember that one! Awwww childhood memories...
" star tours in a closet" 😂😂😂
No wonder EPCOT needs Epzyte, it's tried to have new expansions but alas, it cannot grow or change. So that's I recommend Viagra, if it works for cars, it can work for theme parks.
I really hope Epcot revamps itself, because while there are some cool rides, and there is this educative charm in Innoventions, World Showcase, and what the future could hold, Epcot's future just seems dormant. It's like they want the park to crumble, but can't because that'd millions of dollars wasted and destroyed and they don't want parts of Walt's original dream to disappear. Maybe they could make an entire land about food, video games (assuming that Universal doesn't have any rights to third party developers like Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, or Namco), or animation (Look, after what happened to the Art of Animation in Hollywood Studios, kids could really use an education of what animation was like before computers). Maybe one day Disney will realize that Epcot could use some medicine for that old fraile ball.
...I need to think of better innuendos.
Dokemon Studios I mean I still enjoy it but was once a park I looked forward to the most as a kid, now I mostly prefer Disney Hollywood Studios or heck perhaps Magic Kingdom more. And I guess a bit of animal kingdom but even then there's honestly only like 3-4 rides I probably like.
What? An episode with Spaz AND Figment in the same video, and not one of them mentions the other? WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!?
Theme Park Enthusiast don't worry, Figment mentions Spazz in the EPCOMMENTARY
Nah, that's saved for the Shrek 4D review.
This is Tony's first time bringing up Figment. Early installment weirdness.
I always thought they should transplant a few of the tech rides from Disney quest to Epcot since it's closing. At least that ride with bill Nye where you can build your own coaster and ride it.
I love my broccoli park lol
This park has actually been my favorite park since I went when I was 4 in 2008.
“NOTHING!!! Absolutely nothing!!”
Welllll we just added Guardians of the galaxy, ratatouille opened up in France and MAYBE if we cross our fingers hard enough Mary Poppins will Return into development in England.
I find it intresting that BIll Nye is demanding millions from Disney. Also people want disney to make a Figment movie.
Is that Tone Loc narrating the singing food show?
+supersinger9000 Yup. Or rather, Tone Loc as "Fud Wrapper."
Unless your over 21 then its the best park on property because then you can get hammered, go back to magic kingdom and then really enjoy space mountain.
Well, At Least They Are Opening New Rides Finally (Ok, The Ratatouille Ride Has Been In Paris Since 2014)
I think there's a way to improve EPCOT's popularity. Bring the Iron Man Experience from Hong Kong Disneyland to EPCOT and have it replace the abandoned Wonders of Life. That way it'll serves as a worthy processor of Body Wars. I also suggest on replacing the Disney/PIXAR film festival attraction with an Inside Out attraction, with inspiration from Cranium Command. And also what I suggest is to bring the TRON Lightcycle Coaster to EPCOT to Future World. It'll be Disney's answer to Revenge of the Mummy. Inside Out fits the theme of imagination perfectly and TRON and MCU Iron Man fits Future World perfectly as TRON is all about computers and video games, which is technology based, and Iron Man is all about gadgets and upcoming gizmos for the future and I feel like these attractions would fit into Future World of Epcot just fine without derailing the theme of EPCOT.
So, what do you think? TRON Lightcycles Coaster? Iron Man Experience? An Inside Out attraction inspired by Cranium Command?
All good ideas, but unfortunately I'm pretty sure Universal's Marvel license includes exclusive east coast theme park rights to Iron Man. Iron Man is an Avenger, and I'm pretty sure the Avengers were included in the Universal deal.
Tony Goldmark
If a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction can come to Disney's California Adventure and the Iron Man Experience in Hong Kong Disneyland, I'm sure bringing Iron Man to EPCOT won't be that big of a deal.
I wish I had better news for you, but Universal's Marvel Island contracts specifically give Universal exclusivity on those characters in parks within a 500-mile radius of Orlando. Anaheim and Hong Kong are both far outside that radius.
Tony Goldmark Ok. I didn't see that coming.
Tony Goldmark sometimes i wish universal would just cancel the contract, though i know it won't because it would be bad for money, but hey their doing Nintendo world, so maybe they can switch (hehe.. switch) the marvel world to a Nintendo world, i mean hey you can replace the hulk with a Mario kart ride, or Spider-Man with a Zelda ride, or hell a Pokemon museum.
What about all the scavenger hunt stuff? Like they did it with kim possible then later with phineas and ferb I beleive. I remember doing the kim possible one when I was younger and I thought it was pretty cool. It was the only reason why I draged my family to Epcot
+Sakura Honoka i never bothered to check that stuff out, sorry.
+Tony Goldmark It's cool. Personally that was the only cool thing I remember about Epcot, that and I got a toblerone bar in germany.
another note: NEVER forget the E when using Wikipedia, you end up on the page of the communist party of Tunisia...
I'm planning on doing a blog reviewing/recapping old edutainment stuff. Curious if there's a full version of both Universe of Energy versions pre-Guardians.
There's lots of audience recordings all over RUclips. No direct source uploads as far as I know though.
And then the Frozen Ever After ride overtook Malestorm with a Coco, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ratatouille rides to soon follow.
Has the Coco ride been officially confirmed yet? Personally I think it's inevitable, but it ain't official til it's official.
I don’t think it’s official yet. Personally I’m fine with Three Caballeros, it gives the spotlight to a decades-old IP.
May you please do a review of Disney's Hollywood Studios. I love the Tower of Terror and bet you have great ideas to do one.
Maybe someday.
Great!
I will admit that I don't think that the current Journey Into Imagination is the absolute worst thing ever in EPCOT but I do agree that it's a total downgrade from the original ride.
GG Orange was banned from the singing food show. Just not Disney friendly, those dudes. Way too much self-zesting. Disturbing stuff. Juice and pulp splattered everywhere.
Those EPZYTE jokes were great!
I see you like Journey into Imagination, but do you have any fond memories of Horizons?
+TheSuperMolman To be honest...I know I rode Horizons multiple times as a kid, but it didn't leave all that much of an impression on me at all, positive or negative.
+Tony Goldmark Strangley enough, it was pretty much the opposite for me. My first trip to Disney World and EPCOT was in 2005 when I was 9/10, and even though I was a little pussy afraid of all the rides (The only ride I rode in Epcot was the shitty Journey Into Imagination), I became interested in the theme park history and found rides like Horizons and the non-shitty Journey into Imagination. From just ride footage and music alone, I became hooked on the charm and creativity that beamed from both of them and loathed the day they were removed. (Seriously, the old queue of Journey Into Imagination ALONE was more interesting then the ride that's there now, and it was just a painted mural!)
I just realized if Disney wanted a frozen themed something so much, why didn't they just build something in all the unused space / wonders of life!? (Or get rid journey into imagination no one likes that thing anyway)
Because it's much MUCH cheaper to just use a show building that exists already, and Future World is supposed to be for educational stuff.
Ah yes the 1990s and early 2000s
I miss The Monday Night Wars between WWF Monday Night Raw and WCW Monday Nitro
14:40 How naive we were back then
Right now Future World is literally surrounded by work walls
times i went to epcot i didnt proces sit being entirely education i enjoyed it back when i went
The birth of figments ghost 😂
Anybody else thinks there should be a band called Yodelling Tarantulas?
disney also really dropped the ball with wonders of life. one of the best pavillions laid to waste because they are too cheap to run it. and dont even get me started on guardians of the galaxy. such bullshit
From what I heard the only real reason innovations was torn down was because of a sink hole.
AJSSPACEPLACE it was horizons
Tiff Prendergast I was an idiot 4 years ago
I'm so unemployable that I'm unemployed!
needs more commercials.
Flipping hate the new Test Track; only the high speed part is anywhere near good. The rest has gone from looking like a real testing center to something out of Superstar Limo. Ech.
and now they're updating it AGAIN
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit Or, looking at the plans, backdating it to what it originally looked like with World of Motion. Seems like the right side of the park is the unlucky side--Wonders of Life, Horizons, Universe of Energy, all gone and most of them replaced. Maybe someday they'll actually use the Wonders of Life Pavilion.
Oy vey, the body wars know!
2 people actually died on mission space?
Yes, but neither should've been on the ride in the first place - they both suffered exactly the kinds of health issues they warn about on the signs outside.
Yes
