They’re both amazing producers with their own unique sounds, but if I had to pick I’ll go with Dilla. The dude was really talented. His music is smooth and simple, yet it still has lots of raw talent and emotion to it. J Dilla was one of a kind.

That's false. Preemo was born in Houston, but he is an East coast producer. He created his sound after he moved to New York, and later allying with Guru. His biggest influences are East Coast producers like Marley Marl as well. By that logic Tupac would be an East Coast rapper. Since he was born there. Hell his first rap name was MC New York. I'm sure you would never say such a thing.

Premier paved the way for dilla's sound. Dilla was the next level of innovation necessary to propel the sound into a new arena. I wouldn't say they're comparable but this is tight. (Tryin not to be biast to dilla cuz I'm from the d lol)
It's cuz They used different drum machines Dilla used a mpc 3000 which is 16bit, but premo used a mpc60 which is 12bit. He also used a s950 sampler to make the sound more dirtier/crunchier Nowadays it's much easier to make clean sounds but guess why people be buying these old machines for 4k? 🤷♂️
Dilla just got this sound. Even if Dilla didn’t die he would be making tracks just more impressive than preem. Dilla never looped nor did he quantize, he would sequence every sound himself without it just being the same recording of his first sequence each time. He just did much more
Marck Boogie ain’t about the hits. Dilla is much more smooth in his production. Preemo got a crazy style, but Dilla was born with talent. He was able to match perfect pitch, and was just amazing with his skill with timing. Dilla is much more suited to the GOAT title
