Just got back from getting my Ridge Grapplers (285/70/18) put on 2020 TRD Pro. I hop on YT and this video pops up on my recommendations. 285s fit like a dream with no rubbing at full lock in drive & reverse. Did not want 295s because I didn't want to remove the front spats and also the weight difference. I didn't feel I was losing much by not going with 295s.

Haha, funny how RUclips works that way... I don't think you're missing out at all by going a size down. The added weight difference alone is reason enough to skip the 295s. Grats on your grapplers!

I have the KO2 on my tundra and not my favorite. The KO2 doesn’t like the rain at all so I’m looking for some tires. The Michelin tires where great in the rain and snow but you’re right that they don’t have the look we need.

I currently have ridge grapplers. They are decent in the rain, and do good on my job sites. I use my Tundra as a primary work vehicle for my construction company so I tow regularly as well as get in some pretty nasty job sites. The tires do decent in all conditions but my problem is they don’t stay balanced and make a ton of road noise. At this point they have about 25-30k miles on them and still look to have 50-60% tread wear left. I just hate the noise and the spot around 65mph that just will not balance out right. Hasn’t since they were new. The previous Terra Grapplers never head that problem, neither did the KO2’s. Considering going back to the BFG’s. The best part about the nittos was the price. Seems we are in a totally opposite boat. To each his own!

I have run Terra Grapplers, Trail Grapplers and now Ridge Grapplers. I run these on my Tundra TRD 4x4 and have absolutely no issues on dry or wet pavement...and have not experienced any issues in light snow. In sand, rock crawling or light snow I lower air pressure some to give a larger contact patch instead of running at full pressure as tires are hard enough in Summer with the thick sidewalls. I rotate all 5 of my tires and was able to get almost 60k miles from my Trail Grapplers so hoping for similar from these with rotations at every oil change (4-6k miles)

I’m struggling on deciding between 285 and 295. I believe the 295 weighs 10lbs more per tire than the 285 for not much size gain. Having said that, the 295s look great on your truck! Did Discount give you tire credit from your stock tires?

    • @UntamedMotors

That truck is just... damn. I mean damn it looks good! And those Nittos sure do compliment the overall look even further. I've been considering getting Ridge Grapplers for my jeep for some while now, but since my summer tires are still good for few summers, I've postponed it. But one thing that sucks is that the jeep I'm driving can't really fit much bigger tires than stock (not gonna do spacers...), so it's hard to find good sized Nittos here in Finland. I think largest that'll fit without rubbing would be only something like 255/70/17 (got 17 wheels) so not an easy task to find that sized Nittos (if they indeed make those). But perhaps once my current summer tires wear down too much, I'll have another look. They certainly would be my go-to tires over anything else.

I did the same with my '19 - did research and right away got these tires in 33x12.50R18. They rubbed a bit at full lock but it didn't bother me so much. The thing that made me go back to stock is due to the ride quality at highway speeds because road surface balancing wan't available at the time for these tires. I might try again once I wear out the stock ones, but I don't need LT rated tires so might look at other sizes (maybe even stock) just to avoid having to buy LT.

How bad was your power loss after switching the stock Michelins (40.59lbs) out to these much heavier tires? The one thing I am afraid of regretting is the loss of the total muscle car feel the stock setup delivers.
