      it is very difficult to find a rotation now days even a clinic rotation charge 1000 to 1500 US dollars

    What an actually extremely helpful video and great channel. Videos to help others succeed.
    I'm tired of seeing medtuber trends nowadays. A day in the life of X rotation and destressing and how to work out while in med school and how 12 hour shift is so hard, etc etc.

    Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate your efforts to simplify the residency process for IMGs.
    As for the externship part, I have to disagree with you, I don't think they are valued equally with observerships since the IMG is allowed to do hands-on rotations. A couple of my friends had the chance to do externships and they could write orders and do physicals and practice exactly like the interns.

    A suggestion for upcoming videos : tips to succeed during the electives program itself, what things should students do, are there any exams or specific evaluation, and how to impress the head of department and how to arrange for future postdoc research fellowship in the same hospital we are doing the electives at. 😁

      im transfered from non usmle eligible medical school ( so I get 2 year back from fifth year medical student to third year). Good news now I'm in mid semester of fourth year .

    I have been in a pathological program of one university hospital for years and I was involved in almost every aspects in this department. However, I came US with a J1 visa named visiting scientist; therefore, how can I prove what I did in these years? What come up with me is a letter from my mentor, describing what I did in these years. Other than this letter, is there anything I can do to show my pathological clinic experience?
    Any input will be appreciated!

    another question.. i’m a little confused on listing externships and rotations? dont they have the same meaning? for example, for peds outpatient it’s not like there’s a ton of hands on (in terms of surgical stuff) so do i just list my usce as rotations if i did them after graduation?

    May I ask you a question? If a graduated IMG has passed step 1 step 2 ck and step 2 cs and has already had ECFMG certificate, can he find a hands-on job while doing research or maybe waiting for the match process in order to get additional income or maybe just doing it without being paid?     I heard someone on youtube who said that letter of recommendation is only valid for 6 to 12 months. What do you think about that?
    If someone does his electives almost one year(16months) before applying to the match and gets LoRs , will he be able to use them as part of his application.

    Hi, thank you for your video! Here I have a question. I got an offer to start a House Physician Training in a community hospital without residency program there. And I plan to apply for the IM residency this year (2021-2022 cycle). Therefore, my time is very limited to get USCE. Do you think I need to accept the house physician training offer or try to get some USCE in a hospital with residency program? Thank you in advance!

    Could you please tell me how can I distinguish between the two, electives and externerships offered by the websites and should it be medical school or any hospital can provide a clinical elective? I'm searching for clinical electives but can't recognize these from externerships.

      The difference is in the responsibilities of the USCE which they should mention on the website. If not, you can email them and ask them

      Hey @amak98, this can vary quite a bit depending on the type of clinical rotation and location. If you are looking for hands-on experience (ie clerkships/externship), it’s best to check the hospitals Visiting Student page. That will usually have answers regarding visas or at least the person to contact for more information.

    Hi Dr Malke, My question is there is one main campus of Cleveland clinic and around 16 affiliated hospitals to it, is it valid to do clinical rotations in any of those hospitals or it should be done only in the main campus ?

    Thanks Dr Asaad for your video! I'm a 5th year student of a 6 year program in Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. I've sent more than 50 mails (really I did) in hopes of doing an elective in Neurology, but in vain. The vast majority of schools either didn't accept because my school is not LCME accredited (VLSO portal) or because I haven't done my rotations yet, although my step 1 score is 260. I hope you can advise me which schools are more IMG friendly.

    Dr.malkee if i take my step 1 exam now(before 2022)
    On three digit scoring system...if i would apply for matching in 2023 ...is my score would be counted as pass/fail or it will be counted as a score and enter in filteration and become a powerful thing in applying for residency.

    Hi doctor I applied for a website called American clinical experience (ACE) for an elective and they replied that there is a rotation is available at Clara maass hospital new jersey but it will be outpatient and sometimes in hospital bec of covid for $1800 .. is it worth?

      Try to do it at hospitals where they have a residency program where you have the chance of working with the residents and faculty involved in the residency selection process
