- I went out and found a new beach spot with my friends!
The water was freezing - Started at 11 Celsius and warmed up to 14 (51.8 and 57.2 fahrenheit) by the time we left - but it was a glorious time, and I made some photos with my Mamiya RB67. Film used was Kodak Portra 400!

Damn, your seal friend grew up so quickly!
Ahah that’s the first thing I thought when I saw that fella too! Teenage Larry, so moody!
Very relaxing to watch. Beautiful photography of your lovely friend.
Thanks Jim! Glad you enjoyed the video and the photos!
Man, when you start directing your subject you enter SUPER WILL mode and that's the thing I love the most from your chanel. That reminded me that time when you took the portrait of a hip hop band. Unfortunately for you though, my favourite picture was "Will by Vic" there's something about that smile, very hard to read. Anyway, great video William!
ahaha SUPER WILL that's rad, cheers Francis! Will by vic is indeed rad - the smile is cus she told me to think of Maya and I made a funny face lol! Glad you enjoyed the video man, stoked to see you stop by as always!
Oh joy, a new video right as I wake up. What a lovely way to start my day 😁🤠
Ahah that’s awesome! I forget about time zones sometimes haha, it’s 6pm here now! Hope you’re still keeping well Kamari, your insta comment was lovely yesterday!
@@willysheepskin oh of course my guy. I’ve got to spread the love and show my support across all of the virtual platforms 💪
That’s a lot of courage to run through waters with the RB like that. It just gave me some good dose of heart attacks. Lol 😁
You and me both Sreeku ahah, the rocks were super slippery as well so I had a couple of heart attacks - anything to get the shot though lol!
you're a legend
No you sir are a legend, that needs to buy a wetsuit so we can go dive amongst the fishies ahah
Looked like a great day. Loving your channel and work - and the way you start every video the same way! PS. Just got an F3 on the back of your review and loving it so far!
Thanks Matthew! It's a fun little catchphrase haha! Also rad that you picked up an F3! Many lovely images incoming with that bad boi I reckon!
@@willysheepskin I just got back my first few rolls and I'm loving it! Love your work, look forward to seeing you hit willem verbeek and baxter levels of following soon man
I’m a big fan of all the underwater portraits, they feel like paintings, how they bend the shape of the model under the water in interesting ways
Thanks Iain, I'm very into them as well! Could spend a whole month going after the perfect underwater shot I reckon haha - and I might just before summer is out!
Much needed upload sir🤝
Thank you kind sir, was a much needed expedition haha! Also you’re restarting your streak with a bang!
Dope Shots, William :) Greetings from Cologne, Germany!
Cheers Seb! Hope you're keeping warm out there haha!
@@willysheepskin yeah it's raining most of the time and it's somewhere in between "cold" and "ugly" haha
Willy waterskin back at it again. I honestly always associate your work with water the most, and im always amazed how fearless you are with your rb right above the water. Cheers Willy!
Ahaha waterskin! Cheers Sunny! This was probably the sketchiest things have ever been for the rb cus those rocks were crazy slippery, but if I reckon there's a photo to be had I ain't gonna let the equipment hold me back haha! Heres to more water pictures and the same amount of luck with the RB lol!
The shots at the rocks for the cloth brand are so smooth!! Beautiful!!
Thanks man! Keen to play around with making more stuff for folks this year!
Perfect Day - Lou Reed. Envy from everyone shivering in the dark Northern Hemisphere.
Going to listen to that now actually haven't heard it in a while haha! Glad to send some sunny vibes out into the world!
Okay see... the way this video was shot also makes me feel like I'm one of your friends. I really enjoyed this one too. Thanks for putting out such quality work
Amazing video as always :) feel like your videos are my weekly dose of sunshine as here in Central Europe we haven't seen the sun in weeks :/ very spooky weather though, getting lots of thick fog that doesn't lift throughout the entire day. Thinking I might just have to plan a trip to the Southern Hemisphere for some sunshine because we're not getting it anytime soon.
Thanks Dylan! Doooo iiiit, we’re headed into the nicest season for weather of the year here in Cape Town haha, there are likely more foggy days to come but the sunny ones are worth it!
Literally the only RUclipsr I know who responds to every comment, fair play bud :)
Ahah I feel weird leaving comments unreplied to lol! If someone takes the time to offer a thought or comment then the least I can do is respond if I have a free moment :) and cheers for stopping by once more Sam!
@@willysheepskin it’s all love
I have a slight panic attack when I see you clambering over sea rocks carrying the RB67 one handed, but definitely worth it for those shots. More toes though next time plz
Ahah same here Liam, it was quite stressful but gotta do it for the shots sometimes haha! My failure to provide toes is indeed unacceptable!
This looks like such a fun day of shooting! I’m currently in Daytona Beach, Florida shooting tons of film and making videos!
That sounds awesome man! This was a fun day for sure, I hope you get some great shots!
That RB would be an anchor if it fell in but I hope you would honor the tradition of going down with the ship. Wicked video man! #sheepsquadadventures coming to a travel agency near you.
ahah I'd let it drag me down if I fell in with it for sure, not worth leaving it behind! Glad you enjoyed it Asher, gonna have to head on a Jamaican adventure someday to find warmer waters ahah! #sheepsquadicewaterexploration
@@willysheepskin No doubt about that man poor vic wouldnt need to suffer those brisk waters haha
Lovely photos as always! I was wondering how you meter in those situations and if you have any advice on that :)
Thanks Toni! The light was pretty much the same throughout the morning so I just metered for the direct light and went with that haha, I compensated for the polarizer I was using by adding two stops to the exposure but besides that things pretty much stayed the same! I use the sunny 16 rule most times!
The lovely scenery and sunshine making me very jealous Will! Amazing video as always, thank you.
Thank you for watching as always Sander! Trying to relish the sun while it’s still around this year haha!
Thank you William... I needed some positive , sunshine vibes today. Lovely photos as always
Glad that you enjoyed it kind fish! Always keen to send some positivity and sunshine out into the world!
Looks like a great day at the beach! Thanks for sharing Will. The windy day model shoot too, 🔥! Cheers!!
Cheers Justin! Glad you enjoyed it! The windy day images turned out great, the stress of the wind though was definitely intense!
I am sitting here in -20c rn , somehow this video warmed my soul thanks William!!! #Sheepsquad
Ahh I bet there's snow though! Would love to see some snow haha - although the beach will do for now! I picked up that a lot of folks were keen on the summer vibes last week so figured I could do another beach expedition for this week haha, glad that it warmed your soul! Cheers yung Specialist - rad to see you stop by so early! #sheepsquaaad
In the middle of the winter here and I'm getting jealous of your weather!
Catch a flight down Lyubomir! I'll show you the sights haha!
Something about "Hi there. Will here." makes me immediately click the thumbs up every time. Great work Will. Beautiful images. I just snagged a 65mm for my RB to pair with my 90. Was curious as to what your go to lens for everyday use is? Thanks for the content. As always, Cheers.
Ahh thanks Dylan, always enjoy seeing you in the comments! I hope that 65mm behaves properly for you, mine has always given me issues for some reason lol - I use the 90mm Sekor C for most things, second most used is the 250mm haha! Thanks for stopping by as always, cheers!
@@willysheepskin 8:50 is 90mm?
Just absolutely first class! Beautiful work - and entertaining constructive video.
Thank you! So glad that you enjoyed it and found it constructive!
Looks like a great day. Enjoyed this one Will! Makes me want to visit and explore parts of Cape Town.
Cheers Tristan! Always keen to get more folks to come visit this lovely part of the world haha!
oh hi Tristan 👋 good to see you here
@@marcushague haha hey Marcus fancy bumping into you, let me know next time you're in CO!
@@tristan_lyons definitely will do brother!
Another great video Mr. Sheepskin, love the new style of videos with the new cam!!!
Thank you kindly! The dvc video is going to make a return now that I've found it's charger hahaha!
Wow. that was just so enjoyable. ♥ Really loved seeing the detailed vision you have when shooting product!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thought it might be a fun combination of image making exploits haha!
You may want to give the Canon WP-1 a go. Mine has been in salt water a dozen times over the years, and still works fine. I have no complaints about the 32mm lens. It's not going to compete with the Nikonos glass, but it's still solid. I got a 2nd WP-1 for $70 US in the fall just in case this one ever dies. Another great video!
I'm keeping an eye out for one and might borrow one off my friend David actually! Might have to look into borrowing it sometime soon to use while I confirm the functionality of my Nikonoses haha! Glad you enjoyed the video Jeremy, and cheers for a great idea!
@@willysheepskin One other trick I learned a long time ago, whenever you are rinsing a camera from saltwater exposure distilled water is useful. I usually keep a few jugs on hand anyway for film development purposes and so I literally will fill a small container with distilled water and then dunk the camera for like 10 minutes, swishing it around. The distilled water, with having less dissolved solids, does a better job at pulling the salt off the camera. Or at least, I read that somewhere years ago:)
Great shots Will as usual, go Rb67!
Cheers Justin! Rb67 for life haha!
Cosy Bay! One of my favourite spots :)
Can't believe I hadn't been there before haha! Gonna be a new favorite for me I reckon!
Stunning video! Would love to know how you got those amazing colours out of Portra!
Thanks Matthew! I scan everything on an imacon scanner and it does most of the work, I just try to remove some of the color casts and pretty much end up with this look haha!
sick pics!!.
We gonna get a plant tour some day mate?? :)
Cheers Samuel, gonna have to get Maya to narrate that one haha!
sunshine, beach vibes and lovely shots. What can I say except that I’m jealous haha. Hope you can also have some male models again soon (btw could you maybe make a video one day on poses, what works for male and female models, etc.?)
Well have a blast enjoying this awesome weather
More male models coming in the future for sure! Maybe I'll get Jono back in a video for a proper shoot, but am also working on some other things! A posing video sounds cool, although I tend to just make things up on the spot so not sure how good I'd be at giving suggestions on that haha - shall continue to try make the most of the lovely weather for sure, and thank you for stopping by!
Hey Will, amazing swimwear shoot! My girlfriend really wants to know what the company is?
Hiya Lasse! The clothes are from Stiebeuel and the wetsuit was from Atlas Co, both local Cape Town brands, super cool, hope to shoot a campaign for both of em sometime haha!
@@willysheepskin thanks a lot!
I wonder.... how is it, that you haven't yeeted that camera on those rocks is beyond me.
Ahahah I was very aware of the sketchiness on this day, some the rocks were super slippery too, gonna have to give rock hopping a rest for a little while now cus I must have used up most of my luck
Love the photo of Vik swimming underwater but one of those photos has a toe chopped off ;) hopefully reddit doesn't haze you again, hahaha.
Ahaha I'm prepping myself for the toe fanatics already lol! Cheers man!
hi Will, do you compensate when you shoot thru' the polarizer?
I shoot 2 stops over the rating for the scene normally! Although might start going with 3 stops since things tend to lean more towards underexposure even compensated 2 stops haha
@@willysheepskin thank you for replying. wow 3stops... the CPL is so dark!
amazing pics! which lense do you use for the RB in this video?
Thank you! I used the 90mm sekor c :)
WILLY!

Dang what a missed opportunity on my part! Love that though ahah
I need friends in my life…
I reckon a good way to make friends is to find a hobby you like and a community to go along with it! That way there's a shared interest at the get-go , a great way to build a friendship!
@@willysheepskin the thing is, I am part of a “circle” of photographers where we go on shoots from time to time but, after the shoot no one wants to hangout or just chill or have some type of conversation, which is pretty frustrating ngl…I should probably add that i m living in a foreign country (Japan to be exact) and shooting alone for most of the time gets pretty ‘boring’ for lack of better word. Appreciate your comment and your videos. Sorry for the ranty comment 🙏🏻
@@hmuz8388 Ahhh I see, well maybe a different hobby to get into then! Photographers can be somewhat isolated folks haha, your comment isn't ranty at all! I hope to hear that you've gotten into some new hobby and made some new friends next time we chat!
@@willysheepskin will try! Appreciate it mate, really!🙏🏻
