  • "St. Pat's For All" was started in Queens in 2002 as an alternative to the St. Patrick's Day Parade controlled by the Roman Catholic Church. It was organized by Brendan Fay who had been fired as a religion teacher at an all girls high school in 1992 after being seen dancing an Irish jig with David Dinkins, NYC's first black Mayor. Attitudes changed & in 2016 the group joined the official St. Patrick's Dy Parade in NYC. However, some boroughs of New York City like Staten Island continued to refuse LGBT+ inclusion in their parade so "Lavender & Green- St. Pats For All" commenced as alternatives in those areas. A trans woman was a newcomer upon hearing of a parade that included her in Throgs Neck on March 10,2023 & joined the official NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade up 5th Ave in Manhattan - marching twice in one week. Randy Wicker was there and caught this beautiful inspiring interview. HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO ALL ! ! !
