I’ve been lucky to have seen Courtney Pine several times from his early recording times. He conducted this interview really well. Great rapport from him and Bowie. Still reeling from the Stan Kenton anecdote!
Thanks for uploading. Fascinating to hear David go really 'Cockney' when he speaks to a true Londoner! In a way, it's surprising David and Courtney never worked together unless I'm very much mistaken. Their music was kind of overlapping in the late 1990s.
So cool to see he was a musician first then a singer. I am biased towards people who have formal music education and or those who play instruments versus the samplers etc.
yeah , i think that one may be a bit scripted though - hes clearly taking the piss in that - in fact id say he did it as the bowie he played in the episode rather than as himself.
I know what you mean. Post 2004 anything spoken sounded like a very different man in many ways. There was less humour and a more reserved approach in his mannerism of speaking...
sally abdelrahman so many ch ch changes. I’ve been watching many interviews recently - last one was from 83 where he played “Serious Conservative Bowie” not many laughs but very serious and more the listener. Jump to 87’ (and cry) he was a wild joking rocker who took nothing serious. The man was simply a working actor as he said.
@@schinaro but not much of an actor after 2004. Maybe there was king of reassessment and change of heart after 2005...maybe. Who knows! But before that I agree. Maybe it depends on who the interviewer was and that was a factor. As for 1987, he said that his engine kick started for life again.

David's well of knowledge, experiences and interests appear limitless. Funny too!
What asurprise! I didn't know this existed , not many interviews after 2004. Thank youfor sharing this. Fantastic!
So Cool.... I hope my YT David Bowie Interpretations of his classics make him smile from far far away.

U coulda left some of the jazz tunes in.

Great exchange!

There is the Extras interview from 2006.

scum fall yes it was the last interview he gave
Wondering why there was no more interviews.
Doesn't sound like Bowie?
It is David being David Jones - not so much of the 'Bowie' is all.
