ILYUSHIN IL-76 DEPARTURE with FULL ENGINE START UP sound (Volume up!, 4K)

- The Ilyushin IL-76 is one of my favorite airplanes and yesterday I was able to film an IL76TD of Ruby Star at Eindhoven. Don´ t mistake this IL76TD and its classic engines with the Airbus IL76-90TDs with the modern engines. I added almost the entire engine start up sound for you so you can enjoy the classic engines.
Ruby Star is a company from Belarus and the airframe EW-383TH was built in 1991. 7 years ago I already saw this airplane at Sharjah while it still operated for Par Air.

Classic is still a classic. Nothing beats the shrill of the IL76TD's classic engines.

I lost some frequency from my hearing watching this beast from the fence at EBOS as a child. Especially the resonance of the 4 engines destroys your ears. Totally worth it.

Shared many ramps with 76's over my career. Mostly on joint military bases in the middle east and eastern europe. Like most russian designs they have an aviation mystique about them.
Russian jet engines. Violating noise regulations from the very start up sequence since the 1950s!!
They sound beautiful though...
No this is wrong answer . they are actually entering the inside waves of the sound by passing them in the Air . more sound more waves in the Air .
25 year ago when one took of from Rotterdam The Hague Airport it flew over so low the ground was shaking luckily the horses did not react to any of it. Never seen a airliner with a glass nose it was very impressive.

With D30KP engines you need to stay 1 min on the runaway with 70% from take off power, till engines will achieve needed temperature
Ye, but they didn` t do it. That` s why I was surprised and almost missed the first seconds of the take-off run. I think they did the 70% engine run on the position, at 02:30

Thanks for sharing this! Nice catch. One question: at 9:09 reverse thrust is applied on all four engines? That isn't normal....
For shorter runways and fully loaded plane, this should actually make sense.

Pshew! Those Soviet-era jets with Soviet-era engines are not for kids! The ones that are left are still doing all that is asked of them, and more. It's sad to see so many of them being retired, especially before I have the chance to fly on one!
Many have retired into humanitarian operations around the world. One flew over my mom's home yesterday on its way to the airport.

IL-76TD, where TD means Turbo Diesel
Ил-76ТД - "Транспортный дальний", it means "long-haul cargo" (civil variant)
This is the sound of real jet aircraft. Modern engines are more like vacuum cleaners.

Why did the pilot come back? Did he forget his Slurpee? I love this aircraft. It looks like something from Flash Gordon, is so completely underpowered, takes 4 hours to warm-up, and about 14,000ft of runway just to get airborne. Oh and it's the only jet that has to dive bomb its landings. Lol cold war era Russian tech.
It doesn't actually have to dive bomb its landing. It's a maneuver to avoid being hit by an AA missile
