  • Cheap Trick is one of those bands, at least for us, that are just solid rock n' roll - they know exactly what they're doing, what rock music can do, and they have fun doing it.
Listening to Cheap Trick is pure joy - exhilarating songs, sweet melodies, hard rockers when you want them, ballads when it makes sense, superior vocal performances - what else could you want?
Cheap Trick released Dream Police in 1979 and it was a smash, and obviously so - with songs this catchy and good, of course it was their most successful album. Only nine songs, but two of them pack an 8-ish minute punch. Still you're left wanting more.
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching!

You two are great, very personable. I view your videos and I almost feel as if I'm in the room with you listening to a casual conversation. I agree with all of the points mentioned...Cheap Trick's pinnacle, just a fun rocking record. Gonna Raise Hell (the song that is playing now as I listen to the album) is a fine song but does go on too long, it should be 5 minutes tops.

So this album promoted them into the world of legitimate rock in terms of recognition. However, those of us who followed them from their earliest years view Heaven Tonight as the masterpiece. Nevertheless, Dream Police is a masterwork of sonic brilliance. In the late 70s and early 80s there were two ways to view Cheap Trick: love em or hate em--no inbetween. They were a bit like KISS and Rush in that regard. In St. Louis we loved them.

Great album, but I think it suffered coming after the classic Live album.
