Really good list! Good job Janis and also Janis this time! I loved to see Horrified and Catch Sketch so high on the top, really love both of those games. A bit surprised that you didn't put Ticket to Ride, I think it's one of the safest bets for families - it's fun for almost everyone. But it has been on tons of top 10s already so kind of understandable. What about Cascadia? I think it's the new Carcassonne for families.
My favorite family game is First Rat! Others are 2. Ticket to Ride 3. Karuba 4. Carcassonne 5. The Quest for El Dorado 6. Just One 7. Telestrations 8. Barenpark 9. King of Tokyo 10. The Crew From your list I would like to play Planet Unknown and 7W: Architects.
Challengers, Foundations of Rome, Ticket to Ride, Downforce, Marvel United, Castle Panic, Point Salad, Push...all games I would want to play that my kids and wife also play. But Quacks, 7W Architects, King of Tokyo and Klask! would be on my list too.
I saw Keep the Heroes Out back there! That game is absolutely fantastic and one of my recent favorites. Probably Family+ at the lowest though, it can be legitimately challenging and is weightier. I’m assuming that’s why it didn’t make the list. If your family plays a lot of games, it could work. I would recommend you have your least experienced gamer play the Dragon, it was made to be an easier character.
I noticed Catch Sketch on your lists a lot and would love to try it. Does anyone know where we can find it? Or does it go by a different name in North America? Thank you :)
For that age range, something with simple rules where the kids aren't in direct conflict with one another has worked best for us. When we did high conflict games, the younger kid would often get stomped, and that was no fun for anyone. From their list, Quacks or Horrified would be great. I especially like Horrified since it's a cooperative game and it's to everyone's advantage to share good strategies with one another. If I'm picking from off their list, most kids like Machi Koro since you're rolling dice and get money on almost every turn. Good players usually beat bad players, but it's possible for worse players to have fun up until the game ends. We also liked Sherriff of Nottingham, because every kid enjoys tricking their parents, and the game is essentially figuring out how to effectively lie to one another.
Lol, I really disliked Quacks of Qu.. whatever you write it in english. You basically just put some stuff in your bag and hope you pull the right stuff out and it's only push your luck. Nah.. not for me. Family games top 3: 3. Cascadia 2. Trekking through history 1. The quest for el dorado.
Thank you for this list! I’m a board-gaming Grandma, just getting into the hobby and building my collection. Can’t wait to check these games out. And your animal noises…too cute! Ha ha.
I love your videos but I thought this one was slightly off the mark, or maybe my kids are a bit too young (7 & 10). Only saw 2-3 in the list that I think they'd like, the rest is a bit too brainy I think 🤔
Love you Guys, fund to watch. Keep it up. Could you help us with our NEW BOARD GAME on Kick Starter? We have developed a board game and everything is ready for printing - TABERNACLE OF YAHWEH - THE BOARD GAME. We would love your feedback and review and when it is completed, we would love to send you a copy to review. We're more than happy to answer any questions.
Hei! Send a small pitch to boardgamehangover@gmail.com . We have a pretty packed schedule because we publish just once a week so can't promise anything, but we'll consider it.
Please make (1) solo and (2) travel-sized games of all time!
Second this
Yes, definitely a travel size games list please!
Yes please!
Please do a family plus list!!
We love your videos keep up the great work guys 👍🏻
Will add it to the schedule. Makes as happy that you enjoy our work! Thank you!
Definitely would want a Family+ list, because that's kinda where my group range is haha
Yes, please!

My favorite family game is First Rat!
Others are
2. Ticket to Ride
3. Karuba
4. Carcassonne
5. The Quest for El Dorado
6. Just One
7. Telestrations
8. Barenpark
9. King of Tokyo
10. The Crew
From your list I would like to play Planet Unknown and 7W: Architects.
Agreed. Love First Rat.
Also love Port Royal. It gets to the table all the time
Challengers, Foundations of Rome, Ticket to Ride, Downforce, Marvel United, Castle Panic, Point Salad, Push...all games I would want to play that my kids and wife also play. But Quacks, 7W Architects, King of Tokyo and Klask! would be on my list too.
I‘m wondering if you‘ve ever played „Tempel des Schreckens“? (Don‘t know the english title)
It‘s one of my all time fav party games

Yes make a family + video please. Great vid!
I love 7 Wonders Architects, just wish it lasted a little longer, feels like it's stops just as you get going.
Pretty solid List!!! would love to see Family+, Solo, maybe Coop
Will be working on it!
I would have actually guessed Horrified would be more complex than Pandemic as well.... haha!
1. King of Tokyo
2. Living Forest
3. Dungeon Fighters
4. Planet Unknown
I noticed Catch Sketch on your lists a lot and would love to try it. Does anyone know where we can find it? Or does it go by a different name in North America? Thank you :)
Merci pour ces recommandations !!
Number one and number 10 - I really need to try it. Great list for me. 😁
I would argue cubitos could be tied right next to quacks which surprisingly is missing from the list
Family + games, please!
Just got dungeon fighter but not enough time to play it :')
Can I please buy your copy of Catch Sketch?! Looks amazing.
Junk Art? Camel Up? Karak? Guys, your games are for families, where kids could and can play alone.
Family+ LESSGO!!!
What about Azul ?
Always objective opinions!
I have an 12 year old boy and a 6 year old girl. It’s hard to find a game that they would both enjoy. Do you recommend a couple?

Whats the page they used to check the pandemic weight? :O
Board game geek.
These guys should be a couple
Living forest it looks good so let's tested zeb of course night night pepper zeb can body is wearing out tried my name is Heather ha
None of those games interested me
This is so sad. These are supposed to be family games. Nearly all of them have occult themes and or symbols involved. Thumbs down
Survive didn't make the list...
Thank you for this list! I’m a board-gaming Grandma, just getting into the hobby and building my collection. Can’t wait to check these games out. And your animal noises…too cute! Ha ha.
Just got dungeon fighter but not enough time to play it :')
This might be the most useful video you’ve ever made. Nice one! I feel like the length / shots of gameplay / script / pace was perfect on this one
Glad you liked it! Will try to strive for this in the future
Trekking thru history or jaipur for a 2 player are also great and light family games.
Do a family +!!!
I would include quest for el Dorado, century golem, & blue lagoon in my family list. Great picks all around.
I love your videos but I thought this one was slightly off the mark, or maybe my kids are a bit too young (7 & 10). Only saw 2-3 in the list that I think they'd like, the rest is a bit too brainy I think 🤔
I like Horrified better than Quacks.
You have great taste in games my friend! :D
I can't think of anything these two games share. I like basketball more than gloomhaven.
I still Don't understand where these guys are from. I think from Latvia, although I'm not sure.
So sifi, im not even into any of these
I would add Catan Junior, Raptor and The Pirates Flag. But as you said this is mine objective humble opinions)
Catch Sketch seems exactly like Doodle Dash
We've heard the comparison, but have never played Doodle Dash
I love 7 Wonders Architects, just wish it lasted a little longer, feels like it's stops just as you get going.
Is Long Shot better than Camel Up? My family loves and now mostly only plays Camel Up
thanks for this, just needed to reconnect with my FAM!
family + too!!!!!!
Will schedule it for the future!
Clank?
None of those games interested me
That's alright! Not everyone likes the same games. :) What would be on your list?
