Good question. I committed 10% of my bankroll from my day job every month for a year. I worked in sales too so I had a lot of commission/bonus money which sped the process up a lot.
Once I knew I had an edge and was making profit consistently for 6 months I was confident enough to add some money from other investments that I had but now I am strict about keeping these completely separate.
It takes time to build a bankroll that gives you a decent return. A lot of top sports bettors only make a very small ROI but as they have such a huge bankroll 5% can be a huge amount of money. That’s why you must be careful as 5% for me isn’t a lot of profit so I need to be making more.
