If this was the real promotional video for The Wire so many more people would watch it, they'd coming looking for all these sweet action shots but then bam, they'd get drawn into the slow moving genius that is the wire.
A powerful, gripping tribute to easily one of the greatest, if not the greatest show ever in the history of television. Excellent work. Great choice in clips and dialogue. You essentially captured in 5 minutes what the show did in 5 seasons. A collection of amazing characters with a profound meaning. Well done.

Love it! As per usual awesome work and worthy of one the best shows ever put on tv. Sometimes I enjoy just listening to the audio of this video. The Wire quotes mixed with great music is just badass (same thing goes for your Breaking Bad video).
One of the best vids i've ever seen , and for sure the best tribute .. the choice of the scenes , the quotes , the music and the mix between all of them it just makes you love the show more and more ! Keep on good work , and please try to do a sopranos tribute :)

Haha, I love that you ended with Omar's whistle and then sheeeeeit. I thought the old version was fantastic and I still do (the way it flows, and all those things you crammed in to the beat so well), but I think I prefer this one as a tribute. The quotes are great and give more context to the scenes you're showing so that you can feel the weight of those stories a little more. There's also more variety to your cuts, which works well, I think. Great work.
Thanks. There is another, the LAST one The Wire tribute coming. I fixed some issues it had (mostly audio and a few cuts) and it's as good as it can possibly be (with my skills). I'm going to upload it at 5th series finale anniversary in 2013.
Glad I found this channel, this was quite good and inspiring to me as an editor looking to get into this style of music video/tribute with dialog added in. What is your process when you make these? Do you have a set idea of what you want to do and find clips of characters doing specifics things?
older version + no voiceover = better to be honest your voiceover obsession has gotten out of control, in some parts it's great, but most of the time it stands in the way of the beauty of the music
