Tbh I understand how that's how it seems, but since it's based on a novel, the point of it is that our version of attractive doesn't exist in their society. Beauty is taken to an extreme to the point where the characters find an old magazine from "our time" and can't believe that those models were considered beautiful with their "flaws". Their concept of beauty is artificial and unattainable naturally, which is how the population is controlled. It was a story warning the readers about the evolving and unattainable beauty standards of the 2000 (and now tbh), and the dangers of the beauty industry.
@jeffrey.p.thornton oh I 100% agree with that lol but then again, Hollywood cannot seem to be able to cast people that actually look like they aren't supposed to be in magazines. Even the movie DUFF which has Fat in the title had Mae Whitman who is 1000% not fat as the titled fat friend. Katniss in Hunger Games was supposed to have suffered from malnutrition her entire life like most people in her district, and almost none of them actually looked like that.
@theyearwas1473 Tbh, I didn't notice the Burker King promo, but yeah, I'm not surprised. While I love the book, the movie adaptation is a bit late, and ads in movies are way too common nowadays (like in tv shows). It's a bit sad honestly.
