I´m an engine builder from Germany...working on classic car and truck engines plus OM engines like in the vid. If this guy and me would work parallel on the same motor there wouldn´t be any difference in the work you do. Spent 5 years in 3.world countries, building engines, learnd so much from people like him. Summary: They know better! Thanks for fixing things we invented and one day YOU guys tell US how to fix it properly! Much respect and love! BEST EVER!
Absolutely! With their incredible skills and dedication, imagine what they could achieve with top-notch tools and equipment. They'd be like mechanics on steroids-unstoppable! Here's to them reaching new heights of greatness! 🔧🚀💪
Their ruling class is corrupt beyond measure and has a death grip on all of their economic and natural resources, policies and national planning. As long as the ruling class remains in power, they will remain without many options.
Building this engine reminds me of my mechanic overhauling my Ford Escort 1.6 engine. There are no more this kind of guy who are masters in engine building and repairing. Salute this Afghan mechanics.
this people are so workaholic in all aspects in life , the respects and caring each other is there even how busy they are , the Muslim ways of greetings ...
Absolutely! Their work ethic is off the charts, and it's not just about the engines-they bring that same dedication and respect to every aspect of life. It's inspiring to see how they uphold values like respect and caring, even in the busiest of times. Plus, those Muslim greetings? A true mark of their warmth and hospitality! 🔧🤝😊
Geht also doch nicht schneller😂😂😂😂😂
Not sure what you mean by classic Mercedes, but the mercedes benz cars are not that common in Afghanistan hence it is hard to find the parts. More 90% of the cars are Toyota corolla. Apparently Corrollas are good for the unpaved roads of Afghanistan
Theses guys are 100 time's better than any technicians at all the dealerships in the whole usa...it would take our guy's a month and 100 thousand dollars
Whenever you have a problem anywhere in the world with an old truck, engine, gearbox or car made by Mercedes-Benz, people always will help you…never saw that with another brand…
Brown aviation gasket maker on the head gasket so old school, i though i was the only one still doing that. Good job. The two young guys will good mechanics in the future.
I second that, at 4:09 the speed that the young man retrieved the rag and put it back on his boss's shoulder is amazing, talking about paying attention to details .. Great job
Probably these people didn't go to a technical college. All they learn from as a helper to his boss , who they call ," Ustad". These people are amazing, look at the exhaust , so clean. And the engine sound so nice.
the excellent hands on frm Afghanistan & Pakistan...there're many more repairs, modifications of almost anything that u'll never see anywhere else in the world
Impresionante, el conocimiento de los motores que tenéis, trabajáis limpia y metódicamente, da gusto veros trabajar. No quiero ni pensar lo que haríais en un taller en condiciones y con herramienta en condiciones. Perfecto.
Excellent job with the minimum of tools and equipment ---- the only noticeable hickup is the fact that the Engine was rebuilt but its still barking out black smoke from the exhaust ----- not normal ---- must be residual oil when the pistons was lubricated in the re-assembling process ----- definitely oil burning --- not diesel --- if it was the injector pump or injectors there would be white smoke billowing out
It is quite normal after rebuild..the stucked engine oil in turbo or engine tubings will be burned out ...first 50 km may be there after that no more smoke
Excellent work, I wouldn't hesitate to use their services having seen how capable they are. Same conditions and equipment, but much cleaner and more careful than their counterparts in Pakistan.
lol. This particular place is hub for vehicle repairs for most of the country. This part is close to Pakistan and for long time the currency used was Pakistani currency and since Afghan currency is four times more higher, for most people their service seemed pretty cheap and thats how they become the hub for repair
A bit selective with using it though, and new big end bolts, pushrod stored in a piece of cardboard in their original order etc would be good practice. And the original cracked crankshaft damper rubber seemed to have been sent out for another 400,000 miles.
É muito satisfatório pra mim como motorista ver uma montagem de um motor ainda mais um Mercedes v8 impressionante o trabalho de vcs que coisa linda parabéns pelo trabalho
Ive noticed the Paks, Indians and Afgans all have large amounts of random broken parts scatered everywhere, there no attempt to be organized. However I do appreciate their marvelous abilities rebuilding engines and transmissions.
Even though many mechanics from Germany underestimate their work, I'm sure those of you from Germany can't work with limited tools like them, they can fix damaged parts without having to buy new ones, the brains of German mechanics haven't reached there yet.
These guys know what they are doing. It is a harsh work environment, but they make the best of it. I wonder why someone doesn't pick up the litter scattered around the general area?
That guy would have learnt from a young age, like the lads he has assisting. They do not have the latest tools/machinery, but can do a top job. They are also excellent gunsmiths ; friendly & open but not to be on the wrong side of... as foreign govts have found out.. Same work ethic is in Pakistan & India.

In my country when engine fails, we throw truck or car in garbage and buy new one.
After he torques the rod caps it seems like a lot of play?!
Great watching these industrious Jawas working
At a Mercedes dealership in Germany there would be no one who could repair this like it is nowadays.
Don't be silly...is that why Germany is a top 5 economy?
They actually had a torque wrench, that shows they are being serious about doing engine rebuilds !
A bit selective with using it though, and new big end bolts, pushrod stored in a piece of cardboard in their original order etc would be good practice. And the original cracked crankshaft damper rubber seemed to have been sent out for another 400,000 miles.
