Coming from a "broken home," I do miss having a father figure in my life. It really gives a boy a great way of learning what it is to be a man and a father. But I think it is FAR more destructive to have an abusive father in your life than anything else. Although I rarely met my father, he was always kind to us when he was around, he just followed his own path. I'm only grateful that I had such a loving and supportive mother in my life, for many unfortunate children have neither. P.S. That said, I also believe that so many boys grow up without a father today that it does have a detrimental effect years on. In "the good old days" divorce was very rare, but today it's the norm.

Quality of the fathering matters. They are a role model.
Absolutely.
Is it possible that the feminist movement injured families? It seems it has.
