No lie, his performance and accent usage was so on point that he could actually follow the formula and potentially make a hit country song in todays standards. Which is what really nails his point of the parody, Bo doesn't have a country bone in his body just like some of todays artists.
Fun fact: This song was inspired by a character Bo played when he guest starred on an episode of Parks and Recreation a couple years prior. The character was a caricature of the kind of country singer he’s satirizing in this song, named Chip McCapp.
I just caught the meaning of “Like Mike’s Evandering/ Fuck your ears, I’m pandering.” Mike Tyson bit off Evander Holyfield’s ear. That’s such a clever and underrated line.
As soon as you said "I don't like the cookie cutter nature of mainstream country songs", I knew this song is exactly what you wanted to hear and what you meant by it
Yet to be fair i not sure for american field hands but most british field hand/labourers do splash out for top notch boots such as da walts as unwould rather pay 150 sheets for boots that will last.
I love "Hunting deer, chasing trout. A Bud Lite with the logo facing out." Not enough to write cliché music, gotta get that product placement, advertising shill money too.
Finally! Someone who understood and was able to incorporate the key change line into their reaction! No one gets that and everyone else skips over that part.... Great job. Your Bo reactions are my Fav!
I’m loving your bo reactions so much, but you definitely need to take the time to watch the entirety of Inside (if you haven’t already) including the talking bits, songs, visuals, etc the whole thing. i think since you’ve seen quite a bit of him from his old specials and then watching inside now will really give you a crazy new perspective of how he was feeling behind the scenes, and opposed to going in watching inside blind without any prior knowledge of him. you can really see how hes grown since. knowing his past and the songs he wrote really open so many doors to some deeper meanings of what his new special was about. realizing he wrote "Cant Handle This" then disappeared for 5 years and came back to the internet with inside especially with the song "All Eyes On Me" gives me goosebumps. id sit through an hour long video of you reacting to inside 100%. Keep the videos coming. I’m loving it
I'd love to see that too, but I think the trouble with reacting to the special in its entirety is that RUclips/Netflix is a lot more likely to block the video. Chopping up little bits here and there isn't as much of an issue, especially if it's content that they've already put up on RUclips anyway and if you pause occasionally or mess with the video. I don't think I've seen anyone react to Inside in its entirety without cutting most of each song/bit out. He'd probably have to submit his reaction without the video embedded and then tell people to watch the video separately, but that makes is awkward AF to have any pauses. I wish RUclips would figure out a better solution for this sort of thing, maybe some kind of deal with Netflix to verify subscriptions before allowing people to view it.

I am rediscovering what it felt like listening to Bo Burnham for the first time all over again through you and these videos. Thank you for your genuine, wholehearted reactions! This is a really cool and fun phenomenon.
I completely agree with everything you said, man. The one line in this song that stands out most to me and pretty much sums up a lot of country music today is "I write songs for the people who do jobs in the towns that I'd never move to"

I'm so so glad you're still vibing with Bo Burnham. Other reactors have moved on after doing the "trendy" part because of his special 'Inside' and TikTok viral ones. His catalogue of content is huge. Loving your reactions and analysis like always!
Fantastic, when you were talking about country songs in the Repeat stuff reaction I knew this was gonna be great but man, the fact that you started talking about the adjective stuff right before Bo mentioned it was absolute perfection! Can't wait for the next video. It would be quite fun to hear your thoughts on Bo's songs "Kill Yourself" or "Straight White Male".
I loved your country rant and I'm glad you reacted to this song. I'm from a tiny tiny farmtown in the midwest and this parody song kinda sums up why I don't like mainstream country that much. The line "I write songs for the people who do jobs in the towns that I'd never move to" really hits the nail on the head most for me. A lot of people just inherently look down on what it's like to live a rural lifestyle, yet still rake in the money from the farms and blue collar jobs that people depend on. As always, thank you for the video. I love your interpretations and thoughts :)
That line and the ""I write songs about riding tractors from the comfort of a private jet" are like the biggest slap in the face to certain country artists.
I love how you really deep dive into every video you react to and try to actually analyze the words and take note of the subtle things that enhance the story being told (little movements and gestures, how the music itself melds with whatever's being said.) I find very few reaction channels take the chance to do so, so its very refreshing. If you're taking suggestions other than Bo's music, id be curious to see your view on the song Self by Robert Grace. If you're still looking for suggestions on Bo's music, I'd recommend Nerds or Channel 5 News. Although i dont think they have any performances of the songs, so maybe not something you could react to, but none the less id be curious to hear your take on them. Edit: Also i know its a really weird thing to comment on, you have great posture and im very impressed.
Well thank you, I am glad to hear that cause that is exactly what I try to do, I didn't want to just be another reaction channel that bobs along, says three words, and then ends the video. I wanted to add to the song or give a new perspective, so I am glad to hear that I am doing that :) Hahaha my posture is actually something I am trying to work on, part of the reason why I am standing instead of sitting. And my hands behind my back help remind me to keep my shoulders back
Ahhhh Suffi ILY!!! Putting on the rant in the beginning and then Bo just sings EXACTLY the same clichés you mentioned.. Priceless! You're bu far my favourite reactor atm.

Any time I hear *Somethin Bout A Truck* on the radio at work, all I can think about is this song. Like, it's literally a real country song taking the parody to the extreme when it's not even trying to. Like it's not even trying, the song itself is literally saying "something about (country trope)" every single line. It hurts me to hear anymore now that I've listened to Pandering again now since Inside came out

It’d be nice to see you listen to Channel 5: The Musical. It’s a really underrated Bo Burnham song and it’s also cool in that even though its part of his what. album, it wasn’t actually performed live in his show which means there isn’t a live performance of it (I’m pretty sure).

Where you talk about how you're "guilty" for liking basic modulations, well, there's a reason they're basic. They just sound the best. They're not as creative as others are now, but they work
Luke Bryan actually does come from a farm town, Leesburg, Georgia. It’s a really small town where my grandparents live and my grandpa (supposedly) goes fishing with Luke Bryan’s dad cause they’ve been friends for a long time.
So, no shit, when I moved to the high mountains and started working as a hydrodynamic pump tech, I listened to classic rock and talked like a college educated guy, and the customers HATED me. So I switched to a soft oiled leather cowboy hat, slowed down my speech and added in the Southern drawl I'd learned from my relatives, and the old country songs I used to listen to, made those my work playlist, all Marty Robbins and Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash, and the complaints stopped. Even if I occasionally tossed in an old Irish or Scots folk song
Small detail lol. George Srait doesn't write his songs he picks them. There is one or two exceptions to that I'm sure. But every time he is asked his opinion on why he has more number 1 hit songs than ANY ARTIST EVER. In all genres. He always replies that he guesses he just has a good ear for songs, and tries to pick the best song he can.

@@SuffiReax It's Kenny Chesney. Take your general feelings for Kenny Chesney and apply them to a song about someone who is sexually attracted to heavy machinery.
ngl i rock out to that key chain every time too. music is music man! even animals respond to music. i know 100% pop songs are cheap pricks manipulating me with certain catchy beats humans just can't help but jam to. [if you haven't seen bo's "Repeat Stuff" video, it is 🔥!] but in the end what can you do you? if a key chain gives your spirit a caffeine kick, ride that wave brother! humans are meant to rock out! ...the killers were right; we're dancers.
Jokes aside, if you guys want to hear some real good country music i highly suggest Lucero's self titled album... The one from 2001. Now that's the good shit right there.
I think you could say this about HipHop, too. Guys singing about how they have to hustle every day, get "bitches" and "booty" even though they have been happily married for 10 years and live in a mansion.
While I understand this song's premise and will agree on some level. It's also important to keep in mind that as time passes, styles change. If you think back there was once a time when other country artists and country fans used to criticize Garth Brooks when he was on his way up, for having the kind of concerts he would have which were much more showy and more of a spectacle then what was typically done by most country performers at the time. But eventually thoughts, ideas and expectations changed. Maybe because Garth's concerts were some of the most entertaining shows you could see. And people would be flocking to his concerts in record numbers. And if we are being fair, performers pandering to a particular audience is what they all do. That is how they build up a fan base. It doesn't necessarily mean they aren't being genuine, at least not in all cases. Giving the audience the show that they want to see and saying the words they want to hear is the name of the game, is it not?
Hey Suffi, you should check out "4 Chords" by Axis of Awesome on YT ... It basically shows how so many songs (a ton of genres) over the years use the exact same 4 Chords because it is so well liked by our brains. I know we only have so many combination of chords, but it's absolutely INSANE. 44M views on YT, so you've probably seen it. Came out in 2011 and it's really worth a watch either on your channel or on your own if you have never seen it. There is also the live version with 68M views
I have actually never seen that video but it makes perfect sense and I always kinda thought there had to be something behind what melody or chord progression people responded to most or best. So that is very interesting to hear there is actually a whole video on it!
@@SuffiReax It's literally them just performing, but it just going on and on and on ... so you start thinking how ridiculous it is and kind of start laughing to yourself not realizing that all these songs you have heard in your life have the same type of chord progression. I go back and listen to it every so often, because it still just blows my mind lol
I live about 15 minutes away from Leesburg, GA where Luke Bryan is from and am old enough to know a little bit about him before he got famous. To address your comment about you don't know if he came from a farm or not, the truth is this area is very farm/agriculture heavy. I don't doubt that at some point in his life he was driving a tractor or working on a farm, but him and Cole Swindell another country singer (who went to my high school) have assimilated into the cookie cutter pop/country genre. I'm pretty diverse with my music tastes, but their music is just a recycled cash grab just like Bo describes, the people here eat it up though, it's just not for me.
I grew up in a small ranch town in BC. I agree the radio country music was atrocious and prevalent everywhere. If I had a dime for every time I heard about a 'man's dog divorcing him in his ford truck over a cold beer' I'd be dead under a pile of dimes.
No lie, his performance and accent usage was so on point that he could actually follow the formula and potentially make a hit country song in todays standards. Which is what really nails his point of the parody, Bo doesn't have a country bone in his body just like some of todays artists.
Exactly! He proved his point so well because this literally could be a hit on the radio, he nailed the formula.
He actually played a satirical country star in Parks and Rec, and it's essentially taking the concept of this song and playing it up even more.
Not gonna lie this is one of my fav songs from this special. It's just very catchy.
It's sad that you are right, the absolute state of modern country music.

Great reaction and review! I recommend Are you Happy? From the end of make happy.
just yesterday I was wondering why I hadn't reacted to this song, thank you! XD
Damn man I've been waiting 3 weeks for you to do "rant." Low hey one of his best and realist songs out.
Best line was at the end “I’m a total fucking cunt-ry boy” 😂
Wasaaa duuuddeee, back atcha. Also Garth brooks, I heard you say george straight, hes great too.
Great reaction as always
When you started ranting about why you dislike mainstream country I was like yesssssss he’s gonna love the song
You get a sub simply for the Barbara Mandrell poster. Good on ya.
Just noticed on the left, the 8 next to the disk looks like Bo.
Chip McCapp in all his glory
Check out "80 miles from Sante Fe" same concept of how modern country works.
I thought it was pretty funny that you pointed out the issues he was literally about to talk about in your intro.
This has to be my favorite one from Bo
Good stuff man
Finally!! Love to see it!
I was hoping you'd do this!
the key change is a big prove we came from monkeys haha , even tho he pointed it out, i still jumped in with both legs lol
😂😂
Hell yeah! I've seen Cody Jinks, Whiskey Myers and Jason Boland live! Great red dirt music! F that pop nashville noise!

...ry boy.
Id swallow that key change!
"I write songs about riding tractors from the comfort of a private jet" always makes me think of She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy. An awful song my downstairs neighbor freaking loves.
Such an unfortunately true line and though I have never heard that song, I can only imagine how painful it is to listen to
@@SuffiReax It's Kenny Chesney. Take your general feelings for Kenny Chesney and apply them to a song about someone who is sexually attracted to heavy machinery.
😂😂
I love country music but from the 90s and before
The only thing missing from the song is the fucking snaps for percussion. For the last few years that's like 4 out of every 5 songs with the snaps
Gotta love the key change though dammit xD
Gets me every time I hear one
ngl i rock out to that key chain every time too. music is music man! even animals respond to music. i know 100% pop songs are cheap pricks manipulating me with certain catchy beats humans just can't help but jam to. [if you haven't seen bo's "Repeat Stuff" video, it is 🔥!]
but in the end what can you do you? if a key chain gives your spirit a caffeine kick, ride that wave brother! humans are meant to rock out! ...the killers were right; we're dancers.
This could definitely applied to probably every genre
this is my fav song by him
Yeah, I can’t resist a key change either 😅
Yes! I’m glad that you are watching this
😁Yay😁I'm here first
Thanks for this reaction!🌼
Haha I love that this is like for real a sensitive subject for you hahhahahaha
I fucking love this guy
I go back and listen to it every so often, because it still just blows my mind lol
i coulda sworn you said you were gonna do rant next in the last burnham video but i'm not complainin
Check out "Parked out by the Lake", by Dean Summerwind.
I'm not from the crountry of america so this is quite intersting. thank you.
