I'm afraid of heights too. Went to a climbing gym for the first time last month. One of the boulders had one of those protrusions from the wall so couldn't climb halfway down to jump off. I was petrified and could feel my arms getting weaker. I finally jumped after what felt like eternity. I'd think I'd be fine over the water, but it does look pretty damn high so maybe not

I am also afraid of heights but i seek that thrill. I have a bit of a theory, i think people that have a bit of that fear and learn to overcome it likely gets a bigger adrenline rush then those who don't. in fact i think you need a little fear to drive you to keep going back. If you had no fear, you would not find it thrilling, and you would likely not find it as enjoyable. At least that's my theory. I not super duper afraid of heights but i am, but i've climbed anyway ever since i was a kid, and i love roller coasters and other things that bring back that fear. I used to work in roofing/construction and everytime i'd get on that roof it would take me 10-15 minutes to acclimate and not feel like world is spinning around me, getting back on the ladder back down is even worst for me then going up, but i dealt with it, and honestly that fear also helps keep you in check, make sure you respect the danger and make sure to stay safe.

So for people watching, if you ever jump off of a ledge like the slip he shows throughout the video into water:
A: Do NOT put your arms out to your side- they're gonna slam into the water and it's not gonna feel good. Keep them flat on your body either to the side, folded over your chest, or reaching straight above your head. You want your body to be as slim/pencil-like as possible to easier break the surface tension of the water.
B: Do NOT bend your legs at the hip or at the knees. I know there may be temptation to do a cannonball, but at that speed water is just going to shoot up your bum with the force of a thousand Sunny Ds and right out your mouth.

It has nothing to do with surface tension.
Surface tension is a totally neglegible force on this scale. It is BARELY strong enough to hold up a paperclip. So what hurts when you fall on water is the water being dense and inelastic, so when you fall on it you have to displace it, accelerate it, and that way forces act on your body.
The reason is what BobMarley said.
