      use regedit
local machine -> system -> currentcontrolset -> services -> search the name of the service there, click the folder icon and change the hexadecimal value of "start" to 4 (disabled).

Adobe's updater service gets around ALL of these fixes by Re-installing and Re-activating the Genuine Software Monitor services back onto your computer no matter what you do. Every time you completely close and re-launch Adobe this update and re-install happens and you have to re-do all of the above steps so unfortunately this tutorial is not helpful. So first you have to find a way to STOP the update service from running automatically.

@@kinstar Wow- if only Id have thought of that! Oh wait, I did. You can disable the Updater service from Automatic to Disabled in your Services until you are blue in the face, somehow it resets puts it back to Run Automatically again. YOU CANNOT REMOVE IT OR CHANGE IT PERMANENTLY! The only way is to completely uninstall Adobe and use a different PDF software.

@@georgex231 To make it happen LESS at least, Open Task Manager, Open Adobe Genuine Services in File Location, then once you can see where it is, stop it all in Task Manager. Then Delete the GC folder on your Computer. Then: Type Services into your Search Bar, Look for Adobe Updater Services and Adobe Genuine Software Monitor Services. Stop them running, and then also change the settings from Automatic to Disabled. From here, try to never close Adobe completely. Try to keep one PDF open at all times so that it never has to relaunch from scratch. Thats the only way Ive managed to work around it.
