I've been in El Paso for 20 years now and it's the only place I've ever seen where a middle-aged white guy like me can walk down any Street at any time of the night and not have a problem. It's also the only place where someone like me can walk up to one of these gangsters and just strike up a normal conversation without having to worry about any type of problems. You won't find trouble in El Paso unless you're looking for it and I hope it stays that way.
If you're not from El Paso, please don't be scared. If you're treating people with respect there is no reason for you to get in trouble. The city is very peaceful, if you look for problems you can for sure find them.
@@My_daddy I wouldn't go as far as to say it isn't dangerous. Ohh it is dangerous... If you're looking for it. It's a different vibe out there. If you go there tryin to be hard, like so many here in LA try to be, you'll "mysteriously" end up on that other side of the border. But for the most part if you're minding your own business El Paso is chill than a mofo. I go back to visit at least once a year. I love Los Angeles, but sometimes it's nice to get out of LA and be around regular people. I love driving over there by east Bliss and looking at the newly built homes. Out here in LA those homes would run at least 800k.
My cousin grew out there and says it's hella chill. The biggest problem was probly getting caught with weed. Yet through the years they are getting more cool about having it in small bulk of course.
@@My_daddy what part of EP 🤣? There's a difference. I've known people that lived I'm EP their whole life and don't know lots of part of the city and usually those parts are the dangerous ones. I grew up in one

I used spend summers as a young cat in El Paso. Had a heroin addict Unc who used to drive us around as he took down a tall can. As we got older and my cousins started slanging dope and bricks of Mex weed. I started to notice the city got ugly in my eyes. I stop going and now all my cousins are either dead or locked up. My unc took a hot shot 1 day and I sent flowers but didnt take the flight. They called me square b/c I want a good job and a wife and kids and a nice 2 story home. Now I look back and I got it and never sold a pebble or killed anyone.
Not carrying no matter what does not make them great moms or grandmas. A good mom and grandma will want to tell their kids the truth. Yes they will love their children no matter what, and all parents not matter what ethnicity they are love their children no matter what. But a good parent will always show their kids where they are wrong and try to put them in the right path and not just turn a blind eye.
I grew up in El Paso, so I clicked on the video. Crazy to see family members in the video. Were aint that close to that side but when we do hang out, they come with respect and love. I didn't know they were that deep in the gang life. Stay safe cousins! We love you all.
I’m from El Chuco too. Ysleta. I joined the Army after graduating high school in 1995 and just retired. While I miss my familia and occasionally come back to visit, NC is now my home.
Regardless of how violent the gangs were in the 80s and 90s, I was always protected by them involved when I was a kid. Chuco people is all about respect... I remember living in Downtown by Segundo Barrio, then Sunset Heights, Lower Valley, and East Side. Was never in a gang but always respected what they did and I turned out good. Going 16 yrs in the Marines.
I grew up around Blacks and Mexicans when I was a kid and i've always felt at home being around them.Though im not Mexican being a blonde haired blue eye White boy but because of the way I grew up and my familia being mostly Mexican I've always claimed that. The Mexican people have always showed me love and respect and I have nothin but the same love and respect for them. Amazing peeps both Black and Mexican.
I was raised in NE El paso off of maxel devil triangle. I absolutely loooove it there. It was a culture shock I'm black, but let me tell you. I had more issues witth my own kind. And pancho's and chico tacos are classic!! Love it!!!
I love everything about EP but the occasional spring dust storm. Other than that, the food, the people, and the culture are all about racial tolerance and love for other people. I love living in the MexiPlex. "Somos, El Paso."
I've been to ELP to visit my kids several times and the vibes was always good and I got nothin but love for my Latino family from NorCal all the way to TX! Much respect from Oakland, CA!
Born and raised in the nawf. I’ve had my fair share of craziness. Outsiders won’t understand how fast you can lose your life out here until it’s to late. Don’t let the false statistics fool you. Even though there are SOME racists out here. He’s right, we mostly get along no matter the color. It’s a beautiful city. S/o the edgetown🔥915💙
Shout out "CENTRAL SIDE", "THE DIRTY THIRTY"... I remember the 90's in El, Paso and everyone was banging, that was the trend back then. The way people wear skinny jeans, and others have dress like hipsters. In the 90's being hard was the trend. Gangster rap was a BIG influence, and movies were a HUGE influence. Boys in the Hood, Menace to Society, American ME, Bound by Honor (the original name of the film), Belly. I had PTSD from growing up in El, Paso in the 90's, no joke. I remember doing something dumb, and not wanting to leave my room for days. Then my mom would send my brother and I to the store, and I would be so afraid, because I knew it was coming, and it would come. Maybe its not the first time, or the third time you go to the store, but it would come. First you hear the engine REV, then you hit the floor, shielded by a car hopefully.....pop pop pop. The SCARIEST shhh ever... This was a recurring theme for five years, and at 17 I moved away. I am the only one of my friends who I grew up with, who didn't go to prison or rehab. My brother stayed and earned himself a Federal Vacation. Now El, Paso is super chill and my hood is so nice, it's called The Historic District now.

Yeah as upstate New Yorker, I have learned one thing about different coast in the states. If a mass migration forced these people towards the north east, no way can these people who live in the sun belt states make it. The weather, the lack of Mexican heritage, scenery, food etc etc would drive them insane. I don't even think they could handle NYC or central NY. The only type of Spanish are from the West Indies like Dominicans or else a shit ton of Puetricans. The Native Americans are even a 180 difference compared to out west. It's insane what kind of weather will attract a group of people. While Mexicans or people from Latin America are probably more common to see down there crossing back and forth from the border. Canadians, especially French speaking one's are more common obviously with the northern border vs the southern border. It's like Western Europe or Eastern Europe, at the end of the day both worlds are wayyyyy different. I guess you can say the same for just about any continent like north or south Africa. Amazing tho
@@mateesaavedra401 Good point, but I always saw it as us Mexicans are instilled with the family 1st mentality from a young age. That's what we're told is the most important thing (rightfully so), so I feel like we apply that mentality to our hoods/gangs and that's why so many vatos go hardcore repping their shlt. I'm in my 30's now, but I walked that life here in NE TeXas too back in the day... stay up and peace to all...

Especially since all my family still live there. I appreciate the culture as I lived it too. Show me love and I will reciprocate.
I lived in El Paso, Texas for 5 years. I've been on 6th street many times. The downtown area was where I stayed pretty much. I recognized every area of El Paso shown in this videos. Yet I never saw any of these people anywhere. And I'm a black dude. I never encountered these people. Very rarely did I encounter gang members anywhere in El Paso.
I’ve been in the Army for over 20 years and EP is the best city that I’ve been stationed in. I grew up around every culture and proudly have brothers from damn near every ethnic background. EP is the most welcoming city by far. No simple minded racist idiots here, show respect get respect. Just like any other city, show disrespect, well….

I've been living in El Paso for almost 5 years now, and have to admit it is the best experience when it comes to peace. You can walk around at any time of the day and nothing will happen to you. Of course, there are always some that want to cause problems, though it might be because they think they know who they dealing with. Don't test EP though. Anyways, the whole vibe this video has with the calm peaceful instrumental on the background makes you wanna rethink on how one grew up in a place where things were always dangerous like i did. Some may say this place is boring cause it is a city in the making, but shit, I love the peace I can always experience in this city.

New to El Paso and living on the West side where we are shielded from gang life. But my debutante upbringing in San Francisco still didn't keep me from liking the gangsters of Oakland and East Palo Alto and leading me to a marriage to a Crip. But THIS story is intriguing, fascinating, intimate and something that I have been needing to hear and glad to have discovered this opportunity to learn more about this city that I accidentally came to live in. Keep up the genuine and creative storytelling. This female mortician loves you.
I’m from Oakland California, but been in El Paso since 2008. It’s hella safe out here. Just a few murders a year. And most are domestic violence related. I don’t understand why they trying to portray ep as something that it’s not. It’s a chill drinking town. That’s all.

I miss Chicago too when I'm in EP, but honestly EP is chill asf compared to Chicago. I'm sure y'all get down when it comes down to it, and you can hold your own just like the gangs out here, but I feel the gangs in general are more respectful than here in Chicago. Here I always tell whoever I'm walking with on the sidewalk to walk on the side closer to the home's while I walk closer to the street this way I can just get the bullet first if anything, and pretty much shield my friend's, or family with my body. I don't have to think like that when I'm in EP, and obviously that's a huge plus. Don't even get me started on colors, or what side you clock your cap. Anyway EP's pretty dope, and I hope to be back by the summer of 2023.

Some of my homies moved to the Westside Los Jackies apts. We beefed hard with Diablo & Sherman. Once time we seen 2 vatos walking by our varrio & we recognized them from being from Too Black Trece. They were strapped & my homie got shot in the arm. Another time we did a drive by on L×Ls & we got chased by the police, got pulled out 1 by 1 while the La Mosca the helicopter was up above with his light. My big homie doing state time now shot 2 vatos De Los Manors. An old homie MR. PONCE got killed in a bond fire in the late 80s by Los Wanderers.

Amazing tho
