Mellie's pitches for new shows in Viz eg Celebrity Bumhole, Celebrity Shitbucket etc forecast the rise of low grade bilge like Big Brother, Love Island and Naked Attraction. He was ahead of his time!
Bobby Turkalino Too fucking right, mate. Derek and Clive made me the filthy fucker I became. His best performance in my opinion was as Mr Jolly in The Comic Strip Presents Mr Jolly Lives next door. "Just because my names Jolly, doesn't mean I have to be jolly all the fucking time". Classic Cook.
Pat Kenny is the real-life Irish version.... with the added spice of him constantly being involved in court battles with his neighbours in South Dublin.
They're filming Celebrity Bumhole now in a castle in North Wales. So Roger's producer is an Alan Bennett sound alike. Bet he loves his chocolate digestives and custard creams.
I watched this again a couple of days ago, and noticed for the first time at 16:11 that Roger has a pic of him throwing up over Brucie on the wall of his office. Fell about 🤣
I found my father's old VHS of this well over a decade ago. It was one of the funniest things I had ever seen then, and remains to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen!
I remember getting my own telly in my bedroom and watching this late on TV, think it was Channel 4 around Christmas time?! Still got this on VHS but great to see it on here too!
i was 19 when i first read the viz, honestly the pronannisaurus and ludicrous adverts had me in bits. I'm 51 and still laugh like a loon at these. i can't pick a favourite but Roger is high rank
This is a precious record of comedy greats separated by a generation, working together. Unfortunately it also has a niche audience because of its content, so many will miss out on the fun. Sad lol But you have made the effort to put it out there, and it will survive. Boomshanka
I'm a married mum of 3 and I love Viz. Roger is genius and I own the Profannisaurus....great for reading in the bath. I have the maturity of a 12 year old boy and Viz makes me giggle like a total tit. Love this programme!
Melissa, I know your comment is 3yrs old, but I've just read it-good on ya! I'm from Australia & buy Viz. It costs us $12.95, I think I'll Steal the next one, Haa Haa.
It's universally agreed that this is the funniest shit ever. Viz could easily create a 10 episode series. Each one hour with different characters from the comic. Forget Spitting Image.
cant believe i was allowed to watch this as a kid haha this still has me laughing :D miss peter cook :( R.I.P would have loved them to have done more of these :)
@@ShadSimm It took me about five minutes to realize this was actually Cook, rather than someone who sounded amazingly like him. Wonder if Robert Webb would do Mellie well -- in Mitchell & Webb's early sci-fi comedy pilot they sounded uncannily like Cook & Moore...
Bernard Manning's unfulfilled dream was to appear on the Antiques Roadshow, just so he could say, "See what you've got there, do you know much it's worth?" "Er, no." "F**k all, now f**k off with it."
I miss the Viz. Young me, full of vigour earning when a pound was worth a damn and having a not so secret side that bought the Viz and introduced it to my mother. Anyone remember "Jump Jack Fanny And Her Hawka Diddly Twat" character? Or "Cockney Wanker" and " Victorian Dad"?
It's heartwarming to see that people are still bidding on Roger's Profanisaurus on eBay. Can't remember if Ive got it stashed away somewhere,so went looking .
One of the very occasions where a comic gets made into an animation and is much better than the comic, all of which is due to the genius of Peter Cook. Ever see when Steve Coogan tried to do Roger Mellie...christ what a crock of shite. RIP Peter Cook and RIP Roger on TV.
This is certainly not children I'm seething! My wife has just chased me round the garden swinging a Vic Reeves size Frying Pan at me!! All because I watched this...
The fact Peter Cook voiced this shouldn't have surprised me as much as it did hahaha
Mellie's pitches for new shows in Viz eg Celebrity Bumhole, Celebrity Shitbucket etc forecast the rise of low grade bilge like Big Brother, Love Island and Naked Attraction. He was ahead of his time!
RIP Peter Cook. True comedic genius.

Goddamn right.
Bobby Turkalino, was that really peter cook doing the voice over? Australia.
lol & ZERO tributes to Bruce 4syth...
Peter Cook was truly amazing 👏 😂.
R.I.P Peter Cook... no one else could do a better Roger Mellie than him.
I love that Peter Cook proper goes for it and makes this a pure masterpiece......even though he probably only got paid £2.50.
I see Jeremy Clarkson has found mannerism inspiration from Peter, hopefully not Roger Mellie.
£2.49 8♠️

Really? Wow. I wonder how much Harry Enfield got? Ve
I saw this way back in 1997 on VHS. So great to be able to watch it again.
Absolute genius, I still spit my tea out at the Paul Daniels scene!
My mum and dad used to let me watch this wen I was a kid I fucking loved it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
....and 30 years later, Roger is now the British Prime Minister, only less likeable....
fucking hilarious mate
Pat Kenny is the real-life Irish version.... with the added spice of him constantly being involved in court battles with his neighbours in South Dublin.
Harry Enfield does great voices in this. Brilliant
This should have a billion views!
40 years old and this still cracks me up
Fakiiiiin nolzeeee
Jeremy Clarkson has basically turned into Roger Mellie!
'Due to a serious administrative error at the BBC...' - that line always cracks me up 🤣
voiced by Harry Enfield
Blue Roger should be a cartoon all by itself.
Then again, there is always an error of some sorts at the BBC. There is at least one every day.
They're filming Celebrity Bumhole now in a castle in North Wales. So Roger's producer is an Alan Bennett sound alike. Bet he loves his chocolate digestives and custard creams.
"Hello, Good Evening & Bollocks"
Roger Mellie's producer Tom sounds exactly like Alan Bennett.
It does and thanks for posting it has been bugging the life out of me who it sounded like
Ant p uk teacher
It’s Harry Enfield doing another brilliant voice… imagine him and Cook in a room together !
My thoughts exactly.
I watched this again a couple of days ago, and noticed for the first time at 16:11 that Roger has a pic of him throwing up over Brucie on the wall of his office. Fell about 🤣
Laughed till there were tears running down my legs, puts a Viz into your day

This should have been a whole series in its own right. Way ahead of its time.
You said it kid what a series it would've been

Roger Mellie is total brilliance, should be made into a proper movie.
live action :D
this show needs to be made into a movie.
@Thomas Farrell
Dont know maybe a unknown actor
Would play Roger has for tom the same.
@@Dim4323 Nobody can beat Peter Cook. I was thinking of Jeremy Clarkson.
I loved VIZ back in the 80's. I often sent in my suggestions for the 'Viz Top Tips' section... They were always a frickin good laugh!! hahaha
"Celebrity Bum Hole" sounds like something ITV would do today.
Peter Cook and Harry Enfield
Quality. The cartoon has not aged one bit over the years. You know I always hear more than a touch of Our Rog whenever Piers Morgan is on the sofa!
Tom has the patience of a Saint. Roger must be Impossible to work with
* patience !
"heh, you wanna take that one back - its fucked"
Roger Mellie. The Man on the Telly. Anything on Paul Wicker the Tall Vicar? Equally hilarious. God. Those were the days...
RIP Peter Cook
Still has me laughing out loud 30 years later
Same

I only ever saw this once on TV years and it was one of the funniest things ever. Bollocks to that tom
I was 12 years old and I agree with you that I can not pick a favourite because I have lots of favourites.
Biffa Bacon was one of my faves lol.
Finbarr Saunders and his double entaundres is a firm favourite. Spawney Gitt, Mrs Bradey, Old Lady, (we all know one of those).
it was on channel 4. very late when they used to do cutting edge comedy like the 11 0 clock show in the early 2000s
I have just been crying with laughter watching this, especially to bit where Roger whips Paul Daniels rug off👍👍👏😭
That’s magic 😂
Wee hee.

My hometown is mentioned in the Profanisaurus 🤣🤣
This is absolutely brilliant, funny as f**k and I never tire of watching it. 🤣😂
Even though you know Roger’s going to vomit on Brucie it’s still bloody hilarious when it happens.
And I loved how Roger had a framed photo of the moment on his office wall .
'I'll make sure you never work in TV again, TV again, I'll make sure you'll never work in'.
One of my favourite Viz characters with celebrity shit bucket cartoon one of the gems. Newcastle Brown forever!
Only Peter Cook could do Roger justice…
Boris is getting pretty close... ;)

Roger mellie the man on the telly.

Bruce Fivesyth & Jimmy Tarbrush.

I’d watch it
….as well as the other quiz show involving a pack of playing cards, a box of laxatives and a bird with big hooters!
