What Frank Skinner said was spot on. Viz took a style of humor that was very much confined to social groups and friends and turned it into purchasable media. That's how my friends and I felt when we first started reading it in the early 80's. It was the kind of humor we enjoyed between friends, published for the first time.
I really love my persona joke as one of the viz comics rude kid because when I was younger I used to be ruder than a toxic modern warfare lobby from 2009
@@oscargrainger2962 I still find it hilarious. Simon Thorp, Graham Dury and Davey Jones were, from the late 80's onward, very much the spirit of Viz as much as the Donald brothers. And they still draw the comic.

The "three chords" thing was not in Sniffin' Glue but in a fanzine called "Sideburns" which was a Stranglers fanzine.

Havent bought a Viz in years...must get one to see what's changed - hopefully not much
I still buy it but it’s shite now. Since the Donald brothers left.

Tank girl appeared in 1988...years after Viz..
Viz - available in all good newsagents and some crap ones.
The video was good but the constant punk music in the background started to annoy me. It wasn't needed the WHOLE video.
Yeah it probably was.
What’s punk got to do with Viz.
Punk was "do it yourself". Viz was "do it yourself". Read the book "Rude Kids" by Chris Donald to get the full story.
Everything
@@Couchtripper Rude Kids is a fucking good read, as is Simon Donald's book "Him Off The Viz"
