Yes weather sealed and corner sharpness is impressive for 10mm. A little soft at 2.8 but as expected for full frame extreme ultra wide. Sharpens up as stops down. There aren't many 10mm full frame lenses on the market and I can tell you that others don't perform as well and cost more.
I love my little Laowa 7.5mm 2.0 for my micro four thirds cameras, this one looks awesome for my Sony cameras! I've also got a couple of their macro lenses. Laowa is a great company!
Really? What happens when you put the camera into an underwater housing and do not have a way to manually focus the lens? Not useful to you does not mean not useful to other people. Today being an expert does not come with qualifications I guess.
At 700? Maybe? I'm not sure how much I'll put it to use. I'm really into the 28mm focal length right now for street. I have been looking at a 14mm manual from Rokinon. But the 10mm AF looks pretty sweet.
Hi Jimmy. I own an Olympus EM10 Mark IV. On Saturday I want to shoot an ice canoe race with my Photo Club. It will not be snowing and lots of sunshine is predicted. Because the EM10 is not weather sealed do you think I will be okay using the camera outdoors for a couple of hours?? Thanks in advance for your reply.
I would say light drizzles is definitely ok. just make sure you use something to cover it in between shoots and also, dry it as soon as get a chance. Get a good micro fibre cloth that sucks water well. I would also recommend getting an electric blower in the future so you can quickly dry the camera if needs be.
I wonder how this Laowa would compare to the 10mm end of Sigma's (considerably less expensive) 10-18 f/2.8 for APS-C. For that matter, how would the Laowa do against the considerably faster (and again less expensive) Sony 11mm f/1.8?
@@sbeckmesser The Sigma has a bit of a fisheye look, no straight lines. But it has a zoom range so whatever you prefer. 10mm aps-c/full frame lens will be 15mm on a aps-c camera so in that regard they're identical
Kinda disappointed by the sharpness, definitely not great on a 60MP A7RV I guess. And that's even from judging a 4k RUclips video on a 1440p screen which should just look sharp. Still hope I win the contest, but probably won't buy it myself.
Yeah don't judge a lenses sharpness from footage on RUclips. RUclips compression can really affect an image. Reviewers and people who have actually used the lens are saying it's very sharp, especially stopped down.
Nice news and review !
Looking forward for a Laowa m4/3 lens with AF.
I’m glad they finally came out with something like this for Nikon. This is going to stay on my z8 when I do landscapes and walking downtown.
Easy on the processing of the audio
Thanks, I have already ordered one in the USA for my Sony A1, A9III, A7RV. Cheers
Nice 👍
Why is nobody reviewing the 14 BLADE manual version?? Too many vids of the 5 blade!!!
Because it's not available yet. Laowa made the announcement but no actual review samples available.
Is this lens weather sealed? How's the corner sharpness at f/2.8? I'm on the fence on ordering one, but I'm interested since it looks good on paper.

I'm planning to buy one soon
Nikon Z6ii/7ii have a 4K60 cropped, I would like to see this on how this looks like while shooting
Alas, the Canon RF mount is *not* AF - but costs the same for some reason.

Are you sure it won‘t be available for l-mount?
Currently AF is only available on Nikon Z and Sony E. Other mounts are available as MF only.
Is this lens by any means LOUD?
No, very quiet.
Am I correct that this lens for L mount is not an autofocus lens? It appears to be priced the same.
AF is only available for Nikon Z and Sony E currently.
I'm waiting for xt5 :)
coming soon :)
👍😎
for 10mm in 24*36, AF is not realy usefull...
For close focus, street photography, and Vlogging, AF is pretty crucial.
Yes I plan to do all of the above with this lens.

Clients - wow it looks huge
Estate Agents - about that!

Looking at pre-ordering one of these. Deciding between manual focus with 14-blade aperture vs auto with 5-blade.
14 blades is more for keeping the aesthetics in video, you won't get the sunstar when stop down.
Did I hear you correctly, this lens has an 'AM/FM' switch rather than an 'AF/MF' switch???
May be I did hahaha ... I still love my radios.
nice
I would like to see more auto aperture glas for mft. 14mm compact or a tele portrait 100mm.
Something I am definitely waiting for, auto MFT lenses!

Full frame make a big difference though, neither of those lenses are full frame
Yes, full frame 10mm is a very different thing to cropped sensor lenses.
@@jacobhorton761 I would be using the Laowa on an APS-C camera so the comparisons I mention are apt.

@@jeroenvdw Thx for info on the Sigma. Will investigate it. It may be removed from my short list.
The problem is that they are pricing this at a very high price of $800+
High is relative. High to you, based on what? What lens are you comparing it to, to reach this assessment?
