The MMA fighter known as Rampage Jackson probably has the best KO by slamming a guy who was going for a triangle choke on him (basically wrapping your legs around someone's neck while you're on your back, on the ground, while they are in your "guard"), and that was a case where his opponent, who's in the same weight class unlike this soldier vs Eli, was actually on the ground when Jackson picked him up while his opponent was trying to choke him out. Matt Hughes did a similar thing to Newton when he won his title. Eli would have got his shit pushed in real good if these fights were realistic at all. If anything, his use of a knife evens the odds but the soldier skillfully deflected that, you'd think with reactions like those he would have simply slammed Eli, but maybe he was holding back since Eli's just a kid in his eyes. I'm going to choose to believe the solider was just holding back and being super defensive.

He mainly learned it by watching big boss, as shown where in the end he and Boss fight to a stand still. So it makes sense some punk kid wouldn't be much of a threat to him if he could handle the best operative in the world in a fight.
It looks like he's going to counter Eli in some fancy way and just slams him into the ground, there's also so few frames between him being upright and on the ground.

The reason Diamond Dogs soldiers aren’t trained in CQC like MSF were is due to how different Diamond Dogs is to MSF. MSF was supposed to be a unit, a mixture of infantry and spec-ops. At the time of MSF’s destruction we know they numbered at 300, the size of a battalion so they could easily be taught CQC by Big Boss and by what we see in TPP they each went on their own missions alone or in a squad of 2-4. It’s very different with Diamond Dogs and later Outer Heaven as they were the size of a division or corps, and Zanzibar Land was easily the size of a field army. These soldiers can no longer be trained personally by big boss or venom snake so they probably get trained in the basics of CQC so they are better than your usual infantry but worse than MSF.
Still, it actually serves as an interesting comparison. Considering you can play as your higher ranking soldiers on missions, and considering how there's at least 1 side-op where you need to whoop Eli's ass again, it also acts as a way to show the difference in skill between the higher ranked and lower ranked soldiers. That D class was good, but definitely needed more practice in cqc.

I always got a kick when eli got his ass kick but to be fair I think eli is suffering he's aware of what he is. Knowing he is not even considered a human but a weapon. There was most likely a lot of struggles in that young man life. I think if venom tried to talk to him and bond with him and help him overcome the hate. He would've been saved.
Probably didn't have a normal childhood. Snake was raised by multiple people so it can be assumed that they were good people. And he never left the states as ocelot said.

+M 5thSon Ocelot is a badass in all the games. Well in Snake Eater he's kind of a pussy, but he has his moments. His merit in Phantom Pain is being less quirky IMO.

I am so mad you cannot properly train d dog soldiers at firing ranges and how to properly use CSC, like there should be an alternate one where Eli gets his ass handed to him by that random soldier (and training soldiers would have been better than them just going "ermahgerd boss-kun ur back :o)

The reason Diamond Dogs soldiers aren’t trained in CQC like MSF were is due to how different Diamond Dogs is to MSF. MSF was supposed to be a unit, a mixture of infantry and spec-ops. At the time of MSF’s destruction we know they numbered at 300, the size of a battalion so they could easily be taught CQC by Big Boss and by what we see in TPP they each went on their own missions alone or in a squad of 2-4. It’s very different with Diamond Dogs and later Outer Heaven as they were the size of a division or corps, and Zanzibar Land was easily the size of a field army. These soldiers can no longer be trained personally by big boss or venom snake so they probably get trained in the basics of CQC so they are better than your usual infantry but worse than MSF.
Still, it actually serves as an interesting comparison. Considering you can play as your higher ranking soldiers on missions, and considering how there's at least 1 side-op where you need to whoop Eli's ass again, it also acts as a way to show the difference in skill between the higher ranked and lower ranked soldiers. That D class was good, but definitely needed more practice in cqc.

I always got a kick when eli got his ass kick but to be fair I think eli is suffering he's aware of what he is. Knowing he is not even considered a human but a weapon. There was most likely a lot of struggles in that young man life. I think if venom tried to talk to him and bond with him and help him overcome the hate. He would've been saved.
Probably didn't have a normal childhood. Snake was raised by multiple people so it can be assumed that they were good people. And he never left the states as ocelot said.
I’m surprised Eli never tired to team up with Quiet since they were the only people on mother base who attacked staff and tired to kill snake.
What I like about this cutscene is that the soldier that he attacks is completely random. In my game it was some redheaded guy with facial hair.

You know, as disappointed as I am by the lack of an ending for this game, (by which I mean everything post-50 and subsequent chapters, not "The Truth," which I'm actually fine with as an idea, it just failed to be properly built up due to the cut content), I still say that it was all worth it just so I could see Ocelot push down little punk-ass Liquid.

Huh? I never saw this scene. It feels really weird how this game already has less cutscenes than the other MGS games, and still about half of them are optional/missable.
And I don't like how Ocelot says that in mother base, they like to call eacother by there real name, even though they call John Big Boss, and Adamska Ocelot.

This scene really shows how Eli aka liquid snake is the superior twin with the supersoldier gene even thought he took big boss recessive traits. The way he handle that soldier was almost natural to him whereas solid Snake had to be trained and coach to become a soldier. he probably would have beaten ocelot too if he had more experience
